Character Sheet for Ignatius
Nickname(s)
Orestes (former name), Leader, Chief,
Character Description
Height: 3' 1"
Weight: 75 lbs
A light blue tenrec who specializes in hunting and negotiation. Born into royalty, he fled the castle walls to live in the forest. With his special spear, he was soon made the leader of a small woodland tribe.
Skilled in fire-based magic that he attributes to the spear, he can start fires without needing material like flint, and adapts well to the rather chilly winter.
Personality
Likeable, strict but soft-spoken. A bit emotionally stunted from his father's influence, which he's trying to overcome. Prone to bouts of irrational and immature behavior as he's still rather young. Tries to act independent but can be a bit clueless despite all his training. Not super trusting, but will confide much in those he does trust.
When angry he tends to rant, mostly to himself, not really one to speak loudly or scream, unlike his father, though can get a bit crazy with throwing punches and kicks, not too unlike a toddler with a temper tantrum.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes: Winter, dancing, devising hunting traps, weapons training, studying magic
Dislikes: his father, the state of the nearby town, being hungry, being alone for too long
Background/History
Born to a powerful royal family and named Orestes, he was served hand and foot by servants of the castle. His studies were vigorous but helpful, teaching the young prince all he needed to know about the geography and history of their land, as well as skills in negotiation. He was also trained in Close Quarter Combat and survival, as his father was a paranoid man who always wanted to be prepared for the worst.
However, as he grew into his teens and started seeing more of the town and how it operated, he became disgusted by the way the populace was treated. The kingdom was a tyrannical regime, with his father dealing out far too harsh of punishments for the simplest of issues. The people lived in depression and fear of falling out of line. But being young, he had no thoughts on how to help, and instead devised a means of his own escape.
He was set to be 'crowned' on his 18th birthday, of which he would then officially be a part of all matters of the kingdom. The coronation involved the use of a secret, supposedly powerful magic staff that was used in times of war, as a knighting tool. Out of spite, the eve of the coronation, he enlisted his most trusted servant to help him retrieve the staff. It was only that servant who was let in on the plan, watching as Orestes shed his royal clothing and took off into the night. Sadly, the servant would not live as he was a victim of the king's outrage the morning after, not even given a chance to say what he saw.
Fleeing into the forest, Orestes took shelter as best as he knew how, relying on a small book of notes he always keeps with him. He began to hunt for his food, throwing together furs to keep himself warm. A few isolated months would pass, leaving him somewhat lonesome. But as luck would have it, he had been eyed constantly by a woodland tribe, who knew of the spear and had at first been concerned the kingdom was advancing.
During a profound moment of emotional instability, he was caught in his rant against his father by a scout, who then promptly invited him to join them, as any enemy of the crown was a friend of theirs. It wouldn't be long before he was crowned their new leader thanks to the power from his spear and his vast knowledge.
Upon realizing he no longer wished to be called by his birthname, the tribe settled on the name Ignatius, for his skill with using fire. His clothes were refined by the more skilled workers, being adapted into a vest and sets of arm and leg warmers.
From afar, Ignatius can only hear rumors of the town's status, though he knows fully well there may come a time where his father may send troops into the forest, whether it be to search for him or to expand the empire. And should that time come, he is nervous, but willing, to fight for his true home.
Relatives/Family
Ignatius' only living relative is his father, the current ruler of the town he grew up in.
World/Setting
Ignatius lives in the forest outside of a sprawling castle town, located in the heart of Eurish. Despite still being in the present era, the kingdom is largely behind by centuries due to forbidding external resources such as satellite television and internet.
