I'm trying to reinvent Whomper right now in hopes of improving comic sales and appealing to a wider audience. I think the 3rd Whomper on the right is closest to what I was going for. I'm trying very hard to learn how to draw with more attention to detail but my brain is so hard wired into iconic simple art styles and old habits are hard to break. You can see more vulpine features here especially in the legs and hands.
Perhaps I should just give up on Whomper and draw something else like a Macropod Madness revival comic. I think that comic may have had more relatability for readers.

For straight up cuteness, I like the one on the left bestest. ^.^

First one looks kinda evil. Second too fat-faced. I think the third looks like an overly-confident jock, but that was my impression of Whomper as well, so it seems like it'd work out . . .

I'm glad you have decided to upgrade your art style.  Of these, I would pick the one on the right, but I just saw your new Jenna Grape, and I have to say honestly, that if you want a wider audience you need thinner characters.

In the USA, fat is generally seen as ugly, and even though some real people have successful careers in the limelight despite their weight, they are shown on screen surrounded by thin people.  Your comics however, often show several large bodied characters (whether fat or just big) in a scene, which makes it difficult to absorb the scene as art due to, what seems to be, a binary method of shading/detail  (which is also the reason Gothic font fell out of the common place).

Concerning the thought of Whomper or Macropod Madness for revival, my vote has to be for MM.  I haven't read much of Whomper, but I did read MM all the way through, and liked the way the story developed.

One thing you should keep in mind more than any thing else is: even if you use a retelling of the original, make sure to change the name in some way to let everyone know they are not the same ex- "Jewel Pet" and it's non-continuing successor "Jewel Pet Tinkle".
