On the left we have Margarita Pratchett, a raccoon girl, better known as Peggy Pratchett. Almost everyone calls her Peggy, and she is often teasingly called "Peggy Prattle", because of her well known tendency to go on and on with idle talk and gossip especially with her best friend Mable Macintyre, a mouse girl (as shown on the right). The two are inseparable and are analogous in some ways to Jonah&Jonathan. Mable is a delicate, lithe and petite girl, with a gentle demeanor, a softspoken voice, and very soft, very thin, very long hazel colored hair. She's known for wearing several spherical shaped baubles, namely two earrings, a ankle and a tail braclet. For this reason she is sometimes jokingly called "Marble" (in reference to the round shape). She is the sort of girl that inspires a lot of dreamy love from boys. So much so that she gets both a lot of shy attention and teasing. Peggy finds this all incredibly annoying. She wants nothing more than to have "sophisicated" conversation with her intelligent best friend over some tea, than have to deal with this parade of annoying rambunctious and troublesome boys. Most of the boys that have the guts to speak to Mable, invariably do so by making complete nuisances of themselves. Peggy acts as Mable's self-appointed bodyguard, swatting away all would-be suitors. In addition to Peggy just generally being a prickly and unpleasant sort of a person, this keeping Mable all to herself has made her very unpopular among the boys. As such she often gets the brunt of the teasing despite the fact that Mable is in fact the object of affection. Boys typically show off to Mable by giving her friend a hard time. Mable for herself seems to just find the whole thing mildly amusing. Mable does however genuinely enjoy Peggy's company and find her an equal in conversation. Mable herself has her own deep thoughts and feelings about things and Peggy is one of the few that would actually take the time to listen and understand. Peggy does have a soft and loving side which only Mable knows about. Peggy has her own struggles and her friend Mable helps to encourage her. They have a very close bond much like that of J&J.
This is not the first time these characters have been introduced, believe it or not. They can be seen drawn for the first time in BTBF 3 in the upperleft corner. I had created them on the fly as a pair of girls for J&J to tease. The idea of a "raccoon girl" was intended for another character for another part of the story, but I needed two random girls and I ended up creating this raccoon girl that is very loosely based on the original idea I had, just with the added trait of being pouty. Later on I developed these characters further to fulfill another important role in the story (originally I had no real major plan with these two other than being a one off example of J&Js exploits). We will be getting to see Peggy&Mable in one of the early chapters of BTBF, most likely either Chapter 2 or 3. As for the original raccoon girl, Peggy has caused a bit of a problem since it feels redundant to have two similar looking raccoon girls. Given that Peggy has already been seen in the comic I feel that she is canonically established and so I cant change her species now. As such I've had to rework the other character and am not quite settled on a design yet. In the near future though I will probably settle on art for this character as well.
All-in-All up to this point we have now been introduced to 15 of the 25 characters:
