SYNOPSIS:
We are introduced to Jonah Jahirah Chipmunk who seems to be holed up in his room, extremely depressed, seems to be under the impression he's a pervert for some reason (um ... show me a guy who isn't at least a little "perverted"), and appears to be lamenting the loss of a friend and his inability to stop caring. Outside his room his parents (presumably) discuss Jonah's strange reclusive behavior.
TRANSCRIPT:

how sorry I am for what I have done ...
*????: I'm worried about him Marten ...
*????: I am too, but you can't force a boy to share his feelings ...
he'll tell us what he needs to tell us when he decides to tell us …

COMMENTARY:
What's possessed me to make this?! A little inspiration from another IB member and a whole lot of things on my mind. The fact is, squirrely squirrels might be easier to execute but right now I'm not in the right headspace for it. It's much more cartoony and light-hearted, and I just wasn't feeling it right now. (Don't worry though I haven't abandoned it, but it's going to be on the back burner for a bit). I am going through some rough stuff emotionally. For many reasons this story (that I have an actual plan for) resonates with me far more at the moment than any other of my planned stories. I was a little conflicted about even making it, but it feels too relevant to how I'm feeling not to.
So what's it about? It's a new comic series I'm calling "Better Than Best Friends" (commonly abbreviated BTBF) about two childhood friends (both boys) who share a special connection. They've been best friends for as long as they've known each other. But what happens when one of them begins to realize he's fallen in love with the other? And at the onset of puberty no less! Does his friend love him back?! Determined to find out, everything culminates in one fateful night. This is the story of their childhood friendship, the fateful night, and the aftermath that follows.
