Background: In the Gryphon Kingdom of the WoodBlood Tribe, a Gryphon was born under the name Zephyrus. He was born with Red and Beige fur, a Black Beak and Horns, and light neon-Green Eyes. Zephyrus was also born with tough skinned arms. Zephyrus was the Prince and Son to King Achelous and Queen Sativa.
Zephyrus was born in the WoodBlood Kingdom which was one of Five Tribal Kingdoms in a region of the realm Southkala. The Tribal kingdoms each had one unique species living under them and each was ruled by a King. The WoodBlood Tribe had only Gryphons. The WaterWell Tribe was filled with Lizards. The DeepForest Tribe was made entirely of Gorillas. The DesertMountain Tribe was filled with Wolves and the SnowBone Tribe had Snow-Leopards. The Tribes had their own customs, traditions and ways of life, but they all traded with one another and came together during times of strife and War.
When Zephyrus was only a few years old, the Realm was at war with a ruthless kingdom in the Far East that was attempting to conquer the entire realm and claim it for their own. After about a year, King Achelous sent his son and wife to Skyspire, a Tribal temple deep in the mountains that acted as a Safe Haven for centuries to the Tribes. Zephyrus and the princes from the other Tribes were sent to Skyspire until the war came to an end.
Zephyrus studied the traditions and history of the WoodBlood tribe, as well as the other tribes. He and the other princes studied and trained together and became good friends. After 5 long years of living in the temple, the War came to an end with the one kingdom being defeated and the princes were able to return home. Zephyrus was more than happy to see his father again. After returning home from war, Achelous began training his son.
Zephyrus was trained how to use a spear, fighting hand-to-hand and flying. His tough armed skin gave him a serious edge in combat, granting him the title of Strong Arms and his skill with a spear named him The Great Spear. Zephyrus was given both titles by the time he was 15. Ever since he was little, Zephyrus had a habit of rubbing his horns when he woke up.
Zephyrus loved hearing tales about the Tribe and war stories from his father. When he was just 16, his father King Achelous went to battle with a group of highly dangerous bandits and was Killed in battle. The WoodBlood Kings council immediately proceeded to crown Zephyrus. The day after the funeral of Achelous, Zephyrus was crowned as the new WoodBlood King. He was gowned in the royal families armored trousers and placed around his neck was the Ruby Beak, which acted as the WoodBlood Crown. Then necklace was made entirely of wood, imbued with a Beak shaped Ruby and stringed wooden talons.
During the first year of his rule, Zephyrus was well advised by his councilors as they had Council’d his father before. Zephyrus liked to walk and fly around the kingdom, see his tribesmen thrive and greet them. Just two years after becoming King, Zephyrus led battle after battle against bandits, mercenaries and foreign invaders. His bravery, skill and combat during battle earned him the title Red Warrior.
Zephyrus did visit the other tribal princes from time to time, who eventually became kings themselves. Zephyrus was young when he became King, But he was going to be the greatest King the WoodBloods had ever seen.
