A stroll around paradise.
Better late than never.
This page was a lot of fun, but frustrating. After a new hard drive and a new tablet later, it's finally done. Just to avoid any confusion, in panel two, the view of the windsock and the view of Chucky and Ian are from opposite directions, so the windsock and Chucky's tail are blowing opposite each other.

Thunderstorms are pretty bad news, but they are flying away from it, just in time.

why dose they LOOK so happy about thunderstorms in the last panal?

Long muzzles don't lend themselves to frowns very easily.

They think thunderstorms are neat. Despite the ominous look of it being right behind them, they are flying away from it.

Thunderstorms coming over the mountains are one of the most beautiful things in the world..
UNLESS you're in a light aircraft and they're chasing you over them! Love the weather report and the
expressions on their faces in the last panel. And just out of curiosity, is anyone in your group a 'barometer head"?
Someone who can feel the changes in air pressure hours or sometimes even days before the storm arrives? :D
Chucky
12 years, 9 months ago
Nobody is, I never thought about that. But then, I've never known anyone who was a barometer head.

It can be both cool and annoying as both myself and @Lotamo can attest. In MY case I get sinus headaches that border on migraine lvl pain, sometimes so bad I can't do anything except close myself in a dark room and lay down until the pressure balances out or the pain goes away.  But on the other side if it's an advancing front I can usually for SURE know it's gonna be a hell of a storm, same if it's a slow lingering pain it's usually a long gentle rain that lasts for hours.  If someone in your group has that it would make their desire to fly all the more "interesting" as when the go up in the air they'd not be able to handle the plane if it was severe enough.  It's one of the reason's I could never be a pilot, one bad day and I'd crash the plane. :)

I think that would make flying very unpleasant.  My ears have always been sensitive, but not that bad unless I have a cold.
Lotamo
12 years, 9 months ago
I'm like that, in a weird way. I've always had strange blood pressure and dry sinus issues. when the weather changes, and/or air pressure, I always get nosebleeds or feel light headed.

I totally know where you're coming from this one.

*nods* I don't get the nose bleeds but the lightheartedness and severe headaches oh yeah.

They're not, they're observing at a safe distance.

I've flown through several thunderstorms as a passenger in commercial planes, and some of those planes were commuters, and on the small side. While it can get rough, it can also be a pretty awesome experience. Like a fireworks show and roller coaster ride at the same time. And if you get to a 'safe' position to observe them from the air, it's quite a show. So I think I understand why they seem excited, in a positive way.

The airlines, and all pilots for that matter, really aren't supposed to fly through thunderstorms. But it happens sometimes. It's scary, but very neat.

O god! XDDDDD
Poor Chucky, he's in for the Ride of his life! XDDD
Maybe for Good of for Bad, Some people prefer Flying on Clear Skies But, i like Playing more on Thunderstorms! XDDD
It's Beautiful and more Challenging!
Well.. lets see how the Little Plane Handles in these Harsh Weathers! =3

Ohhh no, they're safely going away from it. That little thing would get chewed up and spit out the bottom in multiple pieces.

I love thunderstorms below a commercial jet. A sea of clouds with a crystal-clear night sky above and flickers of light below. Surreal stuff.

I have a strong desire to hug Chucky's tail.

Chucky

It certainly isn't, good thing they're flying away from it. But, they did wait until the last minute.

"Whooooaaa!" love that panel!
Ian's smart (and cute), taking his jacket off, one can get pretty hot when things get heavy!!
I love the way you drew their headsets, how they fit the anthro's heads, really cool!  And the last panel, great job on the lightning, it looks awesome! Great job, as always!

We live close to and operate out of the mountains, it can be a real rush in all seasons!!  We took a trip once in the company's brand new Cirrus, with full glass panels, auto-pilot, balistic chute and synthetic vision, the works! It was a heavy mountain wave activity day complete with lenticular and rotor clouds...  We were alternating between full throttle and still showing decent to idle power and climbing, the VSI was like a yo-yo, it was very 'exciting'!!
=^.^=

Thank! fucking hate mountain wave, and the Rockies seem to deliver the worst of it. I'd love to take a Cirrus for a ride.

The Air Force has pretty stringent regulations on thunderstorms. 20 miles separation at or above FL230, 10 miles below, 5 miles in the terminal area. Of course, we also have a weather radar to help us in avoiding thunderstorm cells. That way we can go into weather, be in IMC, but still avoid the bad stuff. Without a weather radar, you'd never want to go into it!

Even a big plane like a C-17 or airliner can be severely damaged, destroyed, or suffer flameouts in severe thunderstorms.
Chucky
12 years, 9 months ago
Sounds like 20 miles being the Air Force regulation made its way into the civilian sector as the recommendation.

Damn, have to say I'm looking forward to the next part again. The first reaction to the last image was the song "Riders of the Storm" starting in my head, just somehow a powerful scene shift there. It was coming, and hinted at earlier, but then seeing it starting to take its full shape, figure the two of them are both excited and glad its behind them at least.

"Riders of the Storm / One with the wind, defenders of creation..."
Chucky
12 years, 9 months ago
*headbangs*!! A fellow Hammerfall fan, welcome! I doubt Chucky and Ian are defenders of creation, but they are riding the front of the storm. There are lots of little details and hints in the comic that I bring up later. The storm of course was more obvious, and is playing a part in their day.
