I loved walking around airports as a kid, and I still like it. Except now it's all about the airplanes that USED to be built. For any of my watchers who are unfamiliar with general aviation, most small airplanes you see overhead or parked at your local small airport were built prior to the early 1980s, with a few exceptions. So a stroll around a small airport is a view into a time when small airplanes were built by the masses. General Aviation aircraft are still built, but they're very expensive($175,000 at the low end). A 50-year-old airplane that's perfectly airworthy can be bought for the price of an expensive car.

A supersonic business jet is a cool idea. There are some designs out there for 'em, but no one wants to pay the money for something like this. There are some furs in Chucky's society with deep pockets.

Oh, and the term 'touch-and go's' refers to take-off and landing practice in where the pilot lands the plane and immediately takes off again.

FIRST!!!!  Couldn't resist as I so rarely get the chance!!

Great to see another page again.  I love the way you keep inventing aircraft, complete with their designs.  It's what sets your comic apart from others.

Yours R.o.P.

I grew up on a series of air force bases.  Rather similar to airports, except more stuff is off limits.

I can understand things being off limits, but there would be so many neat things to see otherwise.

A RAM SPIKE!? Really? ooooooooooooo please tell me
that they get to fly / ride in that one!!  :D

Also Chucky...PLEASE don't go emo on us..you're way too cool for that. :)

Heh heh, I'm sure he could get a quick ride in it, maybe a half hour or so if he had $20,000 to pay for the fuel.

LOL Worth it at double the price! ...er..that is..if you HAD it it would be. :D
Seriously that is a BEAUTIFUL plane. I do hope it plays some part in the story. Even
if just for the students to drool over and get all rusty and stuff. :D

That's almost 3.5 times the C-17's fuel cost. Whoever owns that thing certainly has cash to spare!
Chucky

Heh, don't quote me directly on that fuel cost. But it IS unreal how much money some people have.

Aww, Ian is such a nice guy, trying to keep Chucky's spirits up!

Airport walking is awesome, although it was a lot better pre 9/11, an airside pass is like gold now!  Even better is flying into airports you have never been to before, you never know what you can find out on the ramp, or hidden away in some old lean-to..  Its so exciting cause you know you might never be back to the same airport again and planes being planes may not be there the next time, so ya just GOTTA look!  I remember poring over the first Citation X ( Almost supersonic..) in Canada, when it spent the weekend at our little airport, I think I knew more about it then they did when the crew came back on Sunday!!

Lovin' the comic as usu!!

The Citation X inspired me a little in drawing this. I went for the Citation X's big engines, letting everyone know that if you wanna go fast, you need big engines. The new Citation Ten looks like a significant improvement over the original.

I see a little Burt Rutan mixed in there too, kool!!

What I like about the Citation X was that it was very svelte, certainly big for a Cessna, but it lacked the sheer bulk of the other fast biz jets out there, a G5 or a Global Express are BIG aircraft for their catagory!!

I always liked Rutan's designs. He thought a good ways outside the box.

My understanding is that the new Ten will have a 3600 nautical mile range. Even though that doesn't quite compare to how far a Global or G-V can go, that still gives it the ability to fly nonstop from the Eastern US to Europe. And it'll be doing it at mach .9.

Correction, 3200 nautical mile range.

Heh, you got me wondering how to go about building a model of that jet now!

I like the designs you come up with.  I have an idea of what that's like when I'm at OshKosh.

Thanks. I went to Oshkosh once, it was really neat.

Love the supersonic business jet! The air museum near here has a Concorde on display, though I've never taken the tour. But if you ever make it to Seattle, drop me a line and I'll make sure you make it to the museum; going there for the first time since age 14 (I'm 33) would be a hundred times better if I went with someone who'd educate me about airplanes!

Wasn't there some chatter a while ago about putting a Concorde back in service? It'd cost a LOT. I had thought it already happened, but I'm probably wrong.

I certainly will, I'd love to see the Boeing Air Museum. ! I'm not in Seattle that often unfortunately, I love it up there. I believe Richard Branson offered to buy the remaining Concordes and put them in the Virgin Atlantic fleet, but he was turned down.

If I may ask, with all this knowledge on general aviation are you going for being a pilot? Sounds like something up your alley.

I've actually been one for 12 years. It just took the drawing skills a lot longer to catch up. Even then, I didn't start work on the comic until 6 years ago.

Looking good as usual. I really like the amount of detail in the world and the planes are pretty much amazing. I find myself wondering a lot about the world itself and the planes present, it has a nice feel when not everything is a clone copy of the next thing over, there's fun detailing and often you have a good logic for things shown. Its a fantasy, but at the same time it feels it is an educational fantasy for the terms and manners present in the airfields and airplanes.

Thank you. I want there to be some logic to the world they live in and a believable purpose to what's around them.
