I used to draw airplanes all the time as a kid, now I get to incorporate it into my furry art. It was nice finishing this as quick as I did, considering all the detail.

I'm trying to be somewhat technically accurate with these airplanes so they're believable, but there will most likely be mistakes. I always found it interesting that a lot of airplanes' designs are anything but sleek and cool, depending on what you find sleek and cool. But most aircraft have some goofy, 'in your face', caricature-like feature that defines their main purpose. And the more you ask of an aircraft, the goofier and ganglier it's going to look. The Luna V-11 here in the last panel has to handle huge weight and center of gravity ranges to perform. Right now it's parked and empty with a huge rearward center of gravity that would cause it to fall on its ass immediately. I realized this after I drew it, so I added that extra set of gear extending out the back of the fuselage. Not aesthetically pleasing, but essential.

I could go on forever about this stuff, I enjoy babbling about it as much as I like drawing furries.

If they ever rode on our airliners, they'd wonder how we can stand to be packed in together so tightly.

Chucky

There area  few that are bigger. But for the most part their society keeps things ergonomic and comfortable.

Yeah. But not cheap, but then not as expensive either.

Nice page. I always liked the airplanes from the 1920s-1930's interwar years. They always had such interesting and striking designs, for good or bad.
Chucky

Yeah that's very true, they did. The Ford Tri-Motor, and all those float-planes were really something.

I love your attention to details in your creation of new types of aircraft.  IT really seperates your comic from all the others.

Mt. KATAHDIN?!?
If that's the reference I'm thinking of you're more
awesome than ever! If not it's still a neat name. :D
Also NICE transition panel at the bottom..giving just
a bit of info then having Chucky's word balloon move
you into the next panel. You're making the storyteller / comic writing
geek in me very happy. :D

The tallest mountain in Maine, Ian is from Bangor. Of course it's not called Maine in their time, but Mt. Katahdin is still there. Thanks, I seem to be making you happy without trying very hard, happy to do it. :D
KNIFE

You do!
And I forgot that it's a real Mt.
The reference I was referring to was this : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_%28film%29
I won't give it away here but if you read the description you'll know. :D
Chucky

Wow, that sounds like a cool movie. I bet the creature Katahdin really is from Native American folklore and that's what the mountain is named after.
KNIFE
It is. The monster in the movie is believed to be the incarnation of a protective
spirit. I don't want to give too much away if you want to see it but I think it
must be a real myth to those people since that's where the film is based. The
scenery is well filmed in it too. :)  I should warn you though it's a cheezy movie
but worth the watch strictly for the fun factor. :)

I'm loving your airplanes designs they really are super cool and believable! =3

Thanks. What do you mean by EDFs?

Electric Ducted Fan, It's a Type of engine for RC Planes, specially used in Jets made with Electric Motors.

Ah okay, I've seen those, just didn't know them by their acronym. A model of this thing would be wicked cool.

Awesome stuff.  Wouldn't having the V-11's exposed props that low to the ground be particularly hazazrdous?
Chucky
The wings are pretty high up and hinged at the back, so even at their closest point, the props will still clear the ground by a few feet.

Is there a reason i immediately thought SU-47? :P
Chucky

I'm not sure, lemme look up the SU-47.
Chucky

Hmm, I guess it looks kinda similar but....well, not really. Maybe it just has that Russian look to it, I dunno.

Hehe, not everyone!
I love this comic as it offers a lighter side of 'everyday' life (for some of us).
It is imaginative enough to be believable and interesting enough to be captivating!

Thanks! That's true, there are a few here who will get it.

You ought to do what David Hopkins did with Jack where the story's in arcs, so you could do like getting to college, first time in class, the weekend where the French guy got the hot chick's number etc. That way we'd be easily able to find the, for lack of a better term, chapter we're looking for.
Chucky
Actually that's a really good idea. I still have the comic divided up into 'issues' on my computer, since I was originally planning on printing it. I just might do that, thanks!

I really like that Search and Rescue plane that's cool. It really puts me in mind of an Osprey.
Chucky
That's certainly one of the planes I had in mind when I designed it. But I wanted something that could take off and land like a normal airplane if it needed too, so I gave it much smaller props. Of course that means they have to spin much faster to achieve enough vertical thrust.

One error, an Interceptor isn't likely to be used for ground attack.

Interceptors are all about speed and shooting down airplanes.  Mostly catch and kill bombers before they get anywhere near their targets.

Ground attack you need moderate speed and a stable gun and rocket platform.

F-16 is an interceptor.  A-10 is a ground attack plane.

Yes F-16s have been used for ground attack but they aren't that good at it.  2-3 seconds to get off a cannon shot or fire one missile per pass.
Chucky
My idea was a multi-use fighter, of course it might be a little better at one use than the other. It has two cannons just under the canards, you can barely see one of them in Chucky's thought cloud. The wings can also be swung outward somewhat for slower flight speeds. It's no A-10, but in their current time, it's all Siberia has.

Would you be willing to share a 'world map' at some point to show the areas in the world as it is? There's been a variety of interesting region names, makes me wonder if there was a chance to learn more of them. Of course, that probably would mean more work to you so completely understandable if you'd rather not, but its just a curious thought from a fan of the series, it would be interesting to learn more of the world as a whole. Chucky and his journeys does give a nice little by little feel of things but still, seeing a big picture like a map for instance might help integrate to the mentality of how different world it really has become, and not just in terms of fur.
Chucky
Dude I'd so love to share one with you, but I haven't even made one yet myself. It all still exists as a mental picture I have. Someday I will get around to doing it, possibly after I get these character sheets done.
