Yes the inspiration for this idea was from Fullmatal Alchemist when the automail is reconnected to the person's nerves
~ A faint light started piercing Ion's eyes as he started to awake from the darkness of a deep sleep, a pain started to radiate in the centre of his chest as he started to let out a painful moan. Ion could see some movement around him in his still hazy vision as a moment latter a warm feeling could be felt radiating around his arm as the pain in his chest slowly dulled to a more bearable level. With his vision returning and remembering the events that took place, Ion turned his head and looked to his left side and there it was, the thing he had fought long and hard to have grafted to him, no longer his scared stub stared him in the face but a brand new mechanical arm replacement for the flesh arm he had lost over a year ago. A small smile appeared on Ion's face as he continued to look at his new arm, concentrating hard trying to move it but no matter how hard he tried nothing happened. "Sorry, the arm is not turned on yet and probably won't be for a few days" a voice could be heard saying, Ion turned his head to his right to see Meeka there as she was fiddling around with the intravenous bag that was attached to his arm, "your chest and especially your heart needs to heal a bit more before I am comfortable with it taking on the extra stress of the powering device" she continued. Ion started to pout but Meeka leaned over him placing a finger on his nose, with a stern look in her face "look you are lucky to even have that thing grafted to you in your condition, so I don't want to hear any fuss, it will be turned on when you are good and ready so for now just relax and get some sleep, Zephyr will be in a bit latter to keep you company so you have that to look forward to, ok" she said with the last bit in her more cheery tone. Ion leaned his head back in defeat before letting out a small sigh as Meeka started to rub one of his ears, she started to hum a sweet melody and before he knew it, Ion was back out asleep.
A while latter Ion was awakened when he heard some sounds and movement around him, as the gurney he was laying on started to be moved through the halls of the hospital. He felt a hand being placed on his head as he looked to to see Meeka's smiling face, "just relax, we are moving you a regular hospital room as you are improving quite well and no longer need to be resting in the ICU" she started to say as Ion started to open his mouth before he was cut off "and no this does not mean your arm will be turned on quite yet" Meeka continued. Ion looked annoyed as he was taken into a private room and lifted off the gurney and on to a more comfortable hospital bed, his vitals hooked up to the room's monitor as Meeka ushered the other nurses who helped move Ion to this room out as Zephyr walked in. Ion's face lit up seeing his mate there as Meeka finished her checkup on him, bidding the both of them goodnight before leaving the room herself. Alone now the two mates chatted for a bit before Ion dozed off again, as Zephyr just watched over the peaceful sleeping Ion, not wanting to disturb him from his rest. The next couple of days were touch and go as the pain in Ion's chest fluctuated, as did Ion's patience with his arm still not being turned on, it was basically a dead weight on one side of his body, preventing him from doing almost anything but rest in bed and he was getting agitated with not being able to do anything. His body was getting use to the new devices implanted inside of him, the arm powering device grafted near his heart was what was probably causing the fluctuating pain in his chest, an issue Ion kept pressing Meeka with as he thought the pain would subside more if it was aloud to do it's work and let him use his new arm but Meeka didn't want it to happen just yet as she wanted to make sure Ion's heart was fully ready to take on this extra stress but also knew that it would have to happen eventually. With Ion's results coming back positive every time, Meeka knew she could not delay any longer, Ion was ready to have his arm turned on whether she liked it or not but deep down she did know this was the best for him both physically and mentally.
Matias was called in that afternoon, as the engineer of Ion's new mechanical arm, he was the one with the know how on getting the thing to work and could solve any complications with it that arrived. Ion was ecstatic and with Matias seeing his older cousin decently fit, he himself wondered why he was not called in earlier to do this as it had been a few days since Ion's surgery though he did know about his sister's temperament. Matias walked over to the excited Ion, taking his mechanical left arm and spreading it out on the side of the bed, he popped off the bottom cover exposing the many wires and mechanics inside. Zephyr and Meeka went to the other side of Ion's bed as they gave Matias room to work, taking out one of his specialized tools, Matias told Ion to take a deep breath as there might be a bit of pain when his nerves would connect to the mechanical arm's circuit before starting his work. And pain there was, Ion almost right away felt like a million sharp knives stabbing into his stump, radiating all the way to his chest and down his body. At first Ion tried to do as Matias said, take deep breaths and endure the pain but it quickly became impossible, this was unlike any physical pain he had ever felt in his life before. Ion's eyes widen as he started screaming out in unbearable torment, his body started thrashing around and his heartrate skyrocketed, "Zephyr! Quickly grabs a hold of his legs!" Meeka called out as Zephyr rushed to the end of the bed and quickly did as told. Meeka herself placed a hand on Ion's chest to restrain him as she did not want him to hurt himself and the fact his thrashing had started to pop open a few of the staples keeping his chest incision closed, she didn't want to have him deal with an opening wound as well. Ion's screams kept on coming with the pain continuing to intensify, as Zephyr and Meeka were keeping Ion held down, as difficult as it was, "deep breath Ion, deep breaths... just try to relax" Meeka started calling out in a calming voice, "hey Matias, can't you go any faster?" "I am trying, but with him moving around, it is getting difficult getting everything all aligned" Matias responded, " but once I do the pain he feels should fully subside." he continued giving Meeka some hope as she continued to try and comfort Ion. "There just one more nerve and it is all..." Matias started to say before Ion's mechanical arm suddenly jolted up, catching him in the face with a hard punch of metal as Matias got knocked to the ground.
Ion started to settle down but was still hyperventilating a bit as Meeka rand around the bed to attend to her little brother who had quite the nose bleed, Zephyr was able to let go of Ion's legs as his thrashing had stopped, Meeka telling him to grab the oxygen mask on the side of the bed and hold it to Ion's face to help him breathe. Zephyr did just that as Matias got up off the ground with Meeka's help, tissue placed in his nostrils to help with the nose bleed, he went back over to Ion's side and looked him in the eyes "I must say, I was not expecting that, most people take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to get any movement out of their new mechanical limb" Matias started saying, "Ion can you try moving your fingers form me if you can?" Ion, with his breathing starting to relax, motion Zephyr to remove the oxygen mask as he looked over to his mechanical arm, Ion tried doing what he would normally do in moving fingers and before long, his metal digits started moving along with the brain impulses he was giving them. "Fascinating!" Matias exclaimed, "I have never seen someone take to their mechanical limb so quickly before" he continued as he place the bottom cover back onto Ion's mechanical arm. With the mechanical arm now closed up, Ion was able to lift it over his head like putting a fist in the air, the intense pain was now all gone as he look on at his new limb in amazement, for the first time in a while he felt whole again, he felt like he could move forward, he had been re-completed. Ion tried to sit up but Meeka held him down again, she needed to replace the torn staples in Ion's chest before they got infected which took only a few minutes and was a lot less painful for Ion then switching his arm on. With his wound all closed up and his heart rate back to normal, Meeka helped Ion sit up on the side of the bed, with Zephyr taking a seat next to him, Ion continued moving his new fingers around, seeing the light now at the end of the dark tunnel he was in, there was now nothing stopping him from continuing on his dream. ~
The first thing i have think was "Ah, nerve re connection, i know that !" then i look at the description XP I'm gonna read that later ! ^^ (i have buy hades...i'm hooked XD)

Yep, that searing pain of having your nerves interact with the mechanics of a mechanical limb, very painful the first time it happens (well every time but at least you know what to expect the next time), this is also why during Ion;s future surgeries, he is put out before they reattach the arm, well most of them. Well now, that is two stories you still have to read 😛
