Since like 2003 I've been annoyed by the RPG fan community dwelling too much on flashy graphics and how "deep" their Saturday Morning cartoon tier storytelling is as the main draws of the genre.
To me, the fun of exploration and turn-based combat are the big draws, as well as a gradual sense of progression and power acquisition. In other words, going into dungeons, killing things, and gaining experience points and equipment.
So I'm making an RPG with minimum text, using simple icons. You play an anthro wolf, recruit a team of up to three humans, elves, and dwarves, fight monsters, and collect treasure.
Considering my main creative strengths lie in wordplay and character dialog, this is also a bit of a self-imposed challenge for me.
FEBRUARY 2021:
I've been making small and occasional tweaks to this game between working on other projects. I've added potential furbait party members and might add more; a Viking bear woman, a cat girl white mage, and a ferret girl. These in addition to the starting character being a wolf man.
