Chapter 14: The Aftermath- Adam?s Goodbye
Dateline December 30, 2000 C.E.
Blaze had never seen the side of Adam she saw that day and was horrified. "I made babies with that guy I loved him.... But that thing it is not my Adam it is not!" she sobbed in what would be the denial and sadness phases of the Keebler Ross Model of Grief. Vanilla was trying her best to comfort her but was scared of what she had seen. It did not take long for the news to reach Mobius as well. Classic Sonic said "I told you he was no good we are just lucky he did not kill us."
Sally did not share the sentiments of Sonic at all and said "Sonic! If we are to believe the reports are true although he killed his enemies brutally and with excessive force and prejudice the important thing is he did not turn on his own friends. If he truly wanted to be the most evil thing in the world why not just kill everyone else too?"
Classic Tails replied "She is right as usual. As long as we do not try to hurt him and stay away from those who do we probably will not be killed by him."
Antoine nodded and said "Yes and besides panicking about it and fearing him will not stop whatever he does from happening."
Rooter said "What is more he lost his castle and everything in it. My guess is he will either leave our world or at the very least he has been significantly weakened. If there were ever a good time to try and attack him this would be it."
Sally said "I-it is just s-so sad I mean I know in my heart he could not be pleased with himself I mean we have already established his book has a weird way of playing with the heads of others. Not only that but he has kittens now. If we were to kill him how would we ever explain that to them?
There would be no way in hell they could understand or forgive us. And worse still what if a side effect of being born to a necromancer is to each carry equivalent dark powers to Adam? Then we would have to fend off not one but 8 Adam equivalents. Unless we killed them in cold blood but then we would be worse than Adam morally. Its just so hard being good when faced with the impossible."
Neko appeared randomly as he is known to conveniently teleport to places at just the right moment. "Now you know exactly how Adam feels. It was this fear you have now that he carried that lead him to seek out the dark powers in the first place. He desperately wanted to be good but felt like there was nothing he could do as he felt like he was weak dumb and insignificant and helpless to do anything in life."
Classic Tails was in tears and said "My other self knows exactly what you are talking about. This is why he did not run after hearing what Adam did. He knows what it is to be helpless and alone." Neko replied "Except for one thing genius, he could not make cool gadgets and friends."
"I mean I stand by him but he is far from what I consider a friend. To put it simply without this necromancy and what not Adam sees himself as a useless waste of flesh. All he ever wanted was to be loved but he was not and neither was I. My own mom and dad never appreciated me for the genius I was. They already had one until the Sechs Empire killed both he and my parents. It almost made me vomit to see death beget death even if I did not like them at all."
Sally Acorn grabbed the inventive cat boy tightly in a huge hug. Classic Sonic did not seem amused in the least but kept his mouth shut. The Inventive cat boy purred in her arms "Hey Classic Sonic if you need a place to be alone I built you an angry dome. Sonic stomped to the angry dome muttering under his breath about how much love these cat people are getting from his lover."
Meanwhile Adam was rock skipping at a lake with more frustration than usual. "Everything I had to my name is gone and worse still that inner urge to kill overtook me once again... I-I cannot live like this anymore!" he said. "I cannot say I blame Blaze if she is scared of me now... you would have to be insane not to be after seeing that. Worse still even if I let out all the evil I have taken on I would risk not just any respect anyone had for me here but it could very well be the end of all worlds. I really am between a rock and a hard place..."
Shadow came in "Hey... are you doing ok out here?" he asked. Adam replied "Please just go and leave me all alone... I am a monster we both know it! Everyone knows it now and I deserve nothing less than a slow and painful death for all I have done."
Shadow replied "you really are very hard on yourself you know..."
Adam said "What is it to you?"
Shadow sighed and said "how do I put it... It is... not your fault..."
Adam asked in disbelief "what?"
Shadow said "You wanted a place that accepted you so you ran away and just so happened to get your hands on powers beyond your comprehension. There was no way you could have predicted things would have turned out as they did."
Adam said "You are wrong everything I ever did it was all an elaborate plan to get back at those who wronged me I wanted it more than anything else and the monsters within the book granted my wish... But it came at a cost greater than I had wished for."
Shadow sighed and said "I will not pretend to know what kind of control that book might have on you or influence and yes people may be walking on eggshells around you but..." he slammed his fists into the ground. "You have a family now damn it! You are a father! Start acting like it and go apologize to your wife and kids for scaring them or whatever it takes to snap them out of it!" He finished then stormed off.
Adam sighed and walked through station square to seek out his children and Blaze. As he roamed the place scared children threw garbage at him then begged not to be killed. Adults called him a monster a "freak of nature" and joined their children in throwing stuff at him only the adults threw things like dumb bells, wrenches and other tools. Adam was in tears from the physical and mental attacks knowing how right they were. Under normal circumstances he would have exterminated them but he knew it would only make the situation and his guilt worse. He wanted to stop living that life which was why he came to another world. But what could he do? Suddenly rain began to fall people locked up their homes around him.
"A-Adam?" a feminine voice called.
Adam replied "Please just leave me alone have I not and the worlds I have been in not done enough to torment me? All I wanted was for this never ending nightmare to cease but still it continues ad infinitum!"
The voice called out again "It is me Vanilla come on your wife is at my house crying her eyes out. Please tell me the demons within have not consumed the last of your compassion!"
Adam replied "Alright... but I might not remain in your world much longer it is clear that no one with any sanity left wants anything to do with me."
Adam returned to the house of Vanilla Rabbit. "Hey um Blaze... I am sorry for everything I have done to upset people... Really I am...."he said. There was no response. "I will be leaving your world soon I have done far more harm than good in the short time I have been here.... But before I go as a token of my appreciation for all you have done for me I want you to have this..." he continued. Adam handed over that glow in the dark teddy bear he had packed in chapter 9 of the novel he is from.
Blaze looked at him eyes full of tears and said "A-Adam... I..."she suddenly hugged him tightly "Do not leave!" she sobbed. "I-I do not care if you have a monster in you I-I do too it is why I am on fire and why our offspring are on fire. It may not compel me to do the kinds of things yours does but... it does make it difficult to live a regular life...." She said. "I cannot accept your precious treasure... it is not fire retardant just one touch and it would turn to ash..."She finished.
Adam was in tears "N-No one has ever cared this much about me." he said while smiling underneath his tears. "I-I just do not know what to say..." he finished. Blaze said "Please if you must leave this world take me with you and our children too."
Adam nodded and said "Alright... I know what I must do. This world would be better off without me anyway Neko and the others can handle things just fine without me. Assuming even they want to stay." Adam brought Blaze and their kittens to the other side of the portal where the Neko Hotel was and left it open but hidden when he reached the other side so the others could exit anytime they wanted and outsiders would have a hard time finding it on his side. Afterwards he opened a death gate back home after updating his supernatural map with the location of this place so he could return to it later. They entered his original Castle which he had left to wander the world in Chapter 1 of this Fanfiction. Adam was tired as can be and went to bed with the kittens and Blaze but not before making sure the bed was fire retardant and everything in the room as well.
