I don't know if many people are aware of this, but the squirrels you rescue from Badniks and Capsules actually have a name. The species are known as "Ricky" or "Rickies." When Sonic 1 was westernized, the animals were given American names. However, Ricky received the biggest change. He was depicted as female, given a pink bow, and renamed "Sally Acorn."
The Fleetway Comics ran with this idea. But unlike SATAM or Archie, Fleetway stayed true to the original design (for the most part). Sally Acorn was a background character and she had a brother named Tufftee, who made only one appearance. She wasn't a princess, but she would later become a news reporter.
However, I am focusing on the squirrel from the games that was given a pink bow in the west. I was curious to know what she would look if she was anthro like other Sonic characters.
For her head, I stayed true to the (female) Ricky design. Naturally, she would keep her pink bow, but feminine eyelashes were added. For the rest of her body, she has the same body figure as the chipmunk princess people are more familiar with, except she has a squirrel tail. Of course she wears no clothes. However, I knew people would enjoy seeing her wearing a vest and boots.
I also gave her a modern and classic design.
