"The mouse with the red fur, yellow eyes and a green and black tail in the [1989] film ['The BFG'], was not in the book, and was added into the film to provide comic relief"
-IMDB (as of 10/08/2020)
In other words, this character (again) wasn't in the book, the 2016 Disney theatrical remake, or (that I could determine) the comic strip (by Bill Asprey). 'The mouse' exists only in the 1989 movie, 'The BFG'.
The rodent has no name (not even in the film's end credits), hence my reference to it simply as 'the mouse'.
Of course, I'm not without reservations in referring to this Chuck-Jones-wannabe character as a 'mouse'. Notwithstanding its palette, the animal has ginormous eyes, a mongrel's nose, a long neck, and pikachu toes (hey, that rhymed!).
And you can't know how bad I wanted to draw ears on this character! XD ...so I did, on this (my only) practice/warm-up sketch (and it's in 'Ferret style', as I had no intention of uploading this when I made it): https://sta.sh/0ghrbpdjisy
Anyway...
'The BFG' story came from the mind of author Roald Dahl (the same guy who wrote 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory').
'BFG', incidentally, stands for 'big friendly giant' ...which is a bit of a redundancy, and also misleading once one notices the BFG is the smallest giant in the movie.
The movie ...is a bit slow, but it has some good 1980's 'darkness' to it---a boy is eaten alive in this movie, and supposedly, his bones are spat out on the street ...and (it seems) a full 'newspaper article' was written about it, for the movie: https://sta.sh/0mynzvhimew
I can read PARTS of it... I'll cite what I can read, from the printing on the right.
(second paragraph): "The killer or killers would have had to..." "...the risk of ??? ??? of the house would be great" (third paragraph): "If the murder theory is ??? ??? (possible?), could the killers have..." (fourth paragraph): "The autopsy (would/could?) not help ???" "...the cause of death ???" "...but because of the (heat?) from the ??? the time of death was impossible to determine"
Seems the boy's name was 'Peter', but I could be misreading. The text is intentionally blurred. Someone with image enhancing software could probably make it readable.
There's also some (benign) underage nudity and some crude humor here and there in the film.
...and I must say, 'The BFG' (1989) has one of the best '*fart jokes' I have ever witnessed ...this is coming from someone who doesn't find these funny, in general. ^^
To see it (and presuming the link to the movie still works), FFwd to the 58:37 mark. ;)
*the term used to describe flatulence in the movie is 'whizzpopping'. Among giants, it's considered a compliment/a sign of happiness/contentment.
