Encounter
Rebecca made her way home, her father must have been doing overtime at work as he wasn't there. Her teenage brother, Brett, was laying on the sofa watching TV with a bag of chips by his side, turning to face his little sister.
"Hey Becky, how was your day?" Brett asked, popping a chip into his mouth, watching a horror movie as she let out a deep breath, plopping on the couch beside him, saying that she felt unappreciated and that she rarely got a chance to show what she could do.
Brett was one of the few who knew about Rebecca's secret identity, when she was starting out as a superhero, Brett caught her changing into her Discharge costume, but promised he would not tell anyone as he somewhat knew what she was feeling.
"I Still can't believe you were the one who got superpowers," Brett said partially impressed that his little sis was technically a superhero, but a splash jealous that he was perfectly normal as Rebecca sighed, asking him if he heard about the gunman in town as Brett nodded, saying it was on the news.
"Yeah, Knight and Squire came to town and apprehended Gunfire, I Can't believe a known supervillain was in out town, I mean it wasn't an A-Lister like Armageddon or Darkstar, or even a B-Lister but still, Gunfire is a known name," Brett said as Rebecca sighed telling him that she and her team were there.
"Dad didn't even want our help, just because we aren't known. I bet if we were popular he'd have been begging us to help" Rebecca stated as Brett shook his head, telling her it probably was for the best, the news said that Gunfire had hostages and the Cub Squad had never dealt with a hostage scenario.
"If you got them killed, it would be on your hands, try doing small heroic deeds and work your way up, you're still just a kid Becky," Brett said, jiggling the bag in front of Rebecca who took a handful of chips, sitting beside her brother to catch the end of the movie, asking what he was watching.
"Slaughter Camp 7, are you really okay with watching this, I could put something else on as Rebecca smirked, saying she could handle the adult subject matter. Brett told her that he had ordered a pizza that was on the coffee table if she wanted some dinner.
"Dad let you order a pizza?" Rebecca asked a bit surprised as Brett told her that he bought it with his own money, saying he got a part-time job at the local record store. Rebecca reached towards the box, picking up a slice, eating the pizza her brother had bought.
"The crust is a bit soggy," Rebecca said, holding the slice by the bottom, her paw cracking as the slice got darker. Rebecca took a second bite of the now crispy pizza, watching the movie. Rebecca finished her slice, dusting the crumbs off her paws, saying she was gonna get ready for her evening patrol.
"The Cub Squad takes turns doing night patrol and it's my turn," Rebecca said getting off the couch as Brett glanced at her, saying he would tell their Dad she was staying at Missy's house as she got up.
"I wish I knew that Dad was working overtime, I changed out of my costume for no reason," Rebecca said, patting her backpack as Brett smirked, saying that at least no one saw he entering the house in costume as the young canine walked up to her bedroom, closing the door behind her.
Rebecca closed her bedroom door, pulling off her shirt, and tossing it on her bed as she undid the snaps on her denim shorts, sliding them down and kicking them aside, standing in front of the mirror, wearing only basic white panties. Rebecca zipped open her backpack, pulling out the blue uniform, putting her legs and arms through the holes, zipping it up as the tight rubber-like material clung to her from, she then reached for her mask, made of the same material, sliding it over her head, only her eyes and muzzle showing as she looked in the mirror.
Rebecca admired her costume, looking at herself as Discharge, the only bit of concern she had was since the rubber material was stretchy it fit exactly to her body shape, as she turned around looking in the mirror, getting a view of her butt before sighing. Rebecca opened the window, climbing out as he got her method of transportation. a cheap foldable electric scooter, running her palm over it, recharging the toy as she stood up, grabbing the handlebars as the blue scooter rolled along the block.
"There is always something going on, I just got to find it," Rebecca told herself as she drove her scooter around the town, looking for something, not planning on finding a supervillain in her small town, but even something like a robbery or a mugging, anything to do. Rebecca drove her scooter along the sidewalk, the dark sky shining over her.
The streetlights came on as Rebecca's scooter traveled along the evening street, mostly devoid of life as the sidewalks were empty, it was a quiet night, which was good because it meant no one was out committing crimes, but it was a double-edged sword because there was no crime to stop.
"Hey, you're Discharge Right" a voice called as the Dobermann cub stopped her scooter and turned seeing an adult zebra standing near a car as she looked at him, a bit happy that she was recognized as she struck a heroic-looking pose, asking if there was anything she could do to help.
"Yeah, My car battery died, could you give me a jumpstart?" he asked as Rebecca huffed under her breath, looking at him, walking to his sports car as he popped the hood open.
"Yeah, I left my cables at home but if you could run a current through here and here it should start, directing her hands on the engine as he said he would get behind the wheel and try to start the engine, climbing into the driving seat, telling her to start with the juice as he began turning the key. Rebecca followed the instructions sending a current through her hands as the engine started.
"Thanks, Kid, you just saved my hide, if I was late to work my boss would have killed me," he said, fumbling through the dashboard as he held a few bills up to Rebecca, saying he wanted to pay her for her service.
"I'm sorry sir but I can't accept that money, I'm a superhero," Rebecca said as he withdrew the money thanking Discharge for her heroic deed, driving off as she watched the car roll along the road and out of sight
"Come on, give me something" Rebecca pleaded to the forces that be, all she wanted was the chance to feel needed, to be a real hero. Yeah, she just helped a citizen get to work on time but a mechanic could have done that, at least he knew who she was, but Green Hill was a small town so that wasn't much. Walking down the sidewalk as she noticed one of the doors in the alley opening as a figure stepped into the alley, pointing at the door alarm as it exploded, he was walking with a small sack, it was a wolf about 10 wearing a black hooded leather jacket with metal spikes.
Rebecca nearly shrieked with excitement, it was an actual robber as she thanked the forces that be, pointing at the figure who was walking away as he stopped when she called out.
"You, stop where you are, vile fiend!" Discharge called out as the figure slowly turned around, the black wolf's face obscured by his hood as he scoffed.
"Well, this looks fun," a boy wolf teased, dropping the bag and holding out his hands, gesturing for the hero to come at him. Discharge got off her scooter and pounded her knuckles together, her gloves having metal spots to dispel her energy as she ran to the criminal, releasing her electricity through her fist, charging at the wolf who simply caught her hand as nothing happened, he wasn't being shocked.
"What gives?" Discharge asked as the boy smirked, looking at the blue costumed hero, seeing the lightning bolt on her chest as he chuckled.
"An electric type hero, same here, I absorb it and it makes me stronger" The kid replied holding out his palm summoning a ball of lightning, throwing it at Discharge as she managed to redirect it, hitting a trash can exploding as a mass of burning garbage shot out and the other electric user was gone. Rebecca analyzed what happened, she had her first tangle with a superpowered kid who used his powers for evil and he was an electric type.
"Oh my goodness, I have an enemy" Rebecca cheered, eager to tell her team about her new rival
A/N And now Discharge has met her new 'Rival' who is also an electric type, so it seems like her superhero life is about to get more interesting. I went through several concepts for a rival for Rebecca/Discharge, I decided on a bad boy wolf with a shock rocker theme, still haven't decided on a name.
