Cub Squad
When most people think of superheroes, they envision massive titans that everybody knows and loves, who save the universe on a weekly basis. But the truth of the matter is only a handful of them have that demigod status, most of them are just local. These are the adventures of a D-list hero team known as The Cub Squad, from a small town named Green Hill,
A small group of cubs was hanging around their treehouse, which they called their Tree of Fortitude.
The team consisted of
Rebecca Loch/Discharge, a female Dobermann, about 10 years old, with electric powers. The team's de-facto leader, being the oldest, she has a sense of justice, her father being an officer, her uniform consists of a dark blue colored one-piece with a lightning bolt on the front and a full mask.
Kent Buckley/Camo, a male Deer about 10 years old with camouflage powers, he is pretty patient and uses his powers for stealth, often acting as the teams second in command, a bit of a loner and prefers going on jobs alone. His uniform is a camo colored shirt and pants and a full mask with only eye holes cut in
Madeline Belle/Miss Multiplication AKA Missy, a female rabbit about 9 with the power to make copies of herself, always one to help and have her copies help too, she never has to worry about going in alone, her Uniform is a red leotard with a white X on the front, complete with hood and cape.
Robert Green/Deadeye, a male brown fox about 9, he has an impeccable aim and incredible reflexes, unbeatable on the paintball field, and a master with his slingshot, he's a bit cocky of his skills but knows his powers aren't as cool as most of the A-listers. his uniform consisted of a dark one-piece and a cloth face mask.
Jenny Dawson/Power Pussy, a female cat about 8, with enhanced speed, strength, and energy, she always has a lot of energy and is always playing like she is on an endless sugar high. She is very sweet but gets distracted easily, having almost no attention span. Her uniform is a pink tracksuit with goggles.
They were playing a board game as Discharge rolled the dice, moving her piece along the board, pulling a card as she read it.
"Move ahead two spaces," Rebecca read, clattering her piece on the extra two spaces as she handed the dice to Kent, we blew on them before rolling, praying for double sixes, shaking the dice in his hand, clattering on the board as he moved the piece.
“Me next" Jenny called, reaching for the dice as one of Missy's copies grabbed them, tossing the dice to the original Missy before vanishing, only for the dice to be caught in midair by Robert.
"Robbie, it's my Turn," Missy said as he argued saying it went Becca, Kent, Him then Missy as the two were arguing and some garbling was heard in the background. Becca told them that was the police radio scanner she had installed.
"We got a situation downtown, a gunman has isolated himself in an apartment," the voice on the radio said, informing the officers on the situation as the kids were eavesdropping and Rebecca folded the game board up, getting ready to suit up for their chance to make an impression, climbing down the Tree ladder, coming to a pull cart, with the words 'Cub Cart' painted on it.
All the cubs except Jenny got in the pull cart as Jenny grabbed the two handles, running down the street, due to her powers it was fairly easy for her to pull the cart with four older kids in it. Robbie looked through his binoculars as the cart traveled along the roads of Green Hill, pointing out the building.
Outside the cops were planning their strategy as the Cub Cart pulled into the apartment parking lot as the cops looked at the 5 kids climbing out with a dumbfounded look on their faces.
"Not these kids again," one of the cops said as Rebecca walked up the officers, asking what the scenario was as one of them decided to humor the superpowered youngsters, not really taking the Cub Squad seriously. they were just children and far from the best superhero team.
"Well Discharge, if you must know, we have news of a dangerous gunman who has taken up in the apartment buildings, he said he has hostages and will start shooting if we try to enter," he said as Discharge looked at Kent, ordering Camo to sneak into the building and get the drop on the gunman.
"We can not trust the safety of hostages to a handful of cubs," the officer said as Rebecca pouted, telling Camo to ignore the order. The cops were talking about plans as the door to the apartment was kicked off the hinges, earning a look of surprise from everyone.
From inside the building walked out an adult wolf wearing a suit of advanced armor which somewhat resembled a knight with a helmet and a teenage wolf beside him, dressed in similar attire.
"We got the shooter," The wolf said, placing the culprit in the police car, Now identified as the C-List Supervillain 'Gunfire' as the cops smiled, thanking the hero for helping. The wolves were A-lister 'Knight' and his teenage sidekick 'Squire'. they lived in a city right outside of the town, meaning they had to drive to get here, considering they did not have powers.
Despite not having superpowers, Knight was an A-List hero, using weapons and gadgets to do his crime-fighting. Knight had a spot on the A-List team 'Valor' and Squire acting as his sidekick and as a member of the teenage hero team 'Kickback' when he wasn't working with Knight
Knight bowed formally and Squire followed suit as a car drove to the curb, opening its doors as Knight and Squire got in, closing the doors as they drove off. Rebecca was somewhat annoyed, every time something happened, some high ranked heroes would show up and take care of things.
"Come on team, let's go back to the Tree of Fortitude" Rebecca sighed in defeat getting back in the cart as the team followed suit, most of their hero activities, centered around helping people with yard work, picking off after litterbugs, helping elderly people cross the street.
"It's not your fault Discharge, we're D-listers, we'll never have statues erected of us, plus be honest have you ever seen a cub A-lister," Robbie asked as Rebecca sighed, holding out her palm, seeing sparks of electricity crackling on her palms.
It just wasn't fair, they had these powers and rarely got to ever use them as Missy put her hand on Rebecca's shoulder.
"It's okay Becky, even if we're not the best heroes in Green Hill, we still do good work and you should just be proud of that, remember when you started Mr. Neuman's car so he wouldn't miss his job interview, and when Jenny helped those construction workers move their bricks, we're still heroes," Missy said as Rebecca sighed ending up back at the Tree of Fortitude, changing out of their costumes and into their regular clothes, Becky wearing a striped shirt and denim shorts, carrying her uniform in her backpack as she walked through the town, looking at the comic book store.
With real-life superheroes, it was a given that comics would be doing well, based on the heroes and their adventures, looking at the posters that lined the wall featuring heroes like ‘Goldstar’, A lion wearing a golden suit with a red flowing cape, the greatest hero who ever lived, he formed 'Valor' and considered by many to be the perfect superhero, He is caring and selfless. and 'Devine', a female horse in a suit of old armor who was a symbol of strength and beauty, and expert in combat and incredibly strong, a role model for a lot of young girls Even 'The Blitz', a cheetah in a black tracksuit with flame decals on the side, considered the fastest hero in the world and head of the athletic scene. Rebecca decided to pick up a comic, even if she couldn’t experience the amazing life of a superhero first hand, she could experience it in a comic book, walking up as she looked through the new issue as the cashier an old billy goat, snapped out of his daze, looking at the young Dobermann.
"Oh, Rebecca, sorry I dozed off, what can I help you with" The old goat said as Rebecca put some credits on the desk, saying she wanted the new issue of Goldstar, as Billy set a comic down in a plastic bag, as they continued their transaction as Rebecca nodded leaving with the comic, partially eager to read it when she got home, putting her in a good mood.
A/N I wanted to take a break from BFC and I've slept on this idea for a D-list superhero Cub team, I went through many hero ideas. all the A-listers are based on real Comic Book heroes.
Knight and Squire- Batman and Robin,
Goldstar- Superman
Devine- Wonder Woman
The Blitz-The Flash
