This story starts with a bus riding through the town of Wickerbranch, driving slowly, and taking caution to the cold rainy weather. On one of the seats was a young Husky about twelve covered in a warm hood raised over her head as she held onto her backpack containing a few belongings for her journey.
"Okay, this is the last stop kid, you need to get off here," the bus driver said, parking the bus at the stop as he pulled a lever, opening the door as the girl stood up, walking off the bus, her backpack slung around as she watched the bus drive off. The weather was cold but nothing she wasn't used to. it was more of an inconvenience as she rubbed herself.
Fleida had just run away from her exchange family out of fear of being sent back and beginning to realize she had not thought everything through. From what she understood her father got in trouble with the government for something they believe he did, on instinct she ran away out of fear of being sent out when the school year was over.
Fledia counted the money she had which wasn't much and had to make every purchase count. she looked around seeing a cheap motel walking around, knowing she did not even have enough for one night. she hoped that the owner would be charitable to let her stay the night as she knocked on the door. a much older panther opened the door, looking down at the young husky.
"What," he asked looking at Fleida who asked if he could lend her a room for the night. he gave her the prices as she told him that she did not have that much money but was asking if she could stay the night, it was a dark and cold evening.
The panther scratched his chin weighing the options. The girl did not have the money for a room but he wasn't completely heartless as he looked at the girl.
"You can spend the night but you have to leave in the morning," he said, welcoming her in the motel. the two walked down the side of the building as they came to one of the doors. putting in a key and unlocking the door and opening it.
Fleida thanked the older panther and he left, leaving the young girl alone. After getting some time alone she took her soaking clothes off and headed to the shower to warm up. throwing her wet clothes on the floor as she entered the shower, putting her hand on the water knob, turning it.
A stream of hot water poured down on the young girl as she placed her hands on the shower wall, feeling the nice warm shower. it was probably the first one she had since leaving. she was so dirty that the grime in her fur was rinsing off turning the water a dark hue.
Fleida reached for the shampoo, squirting a glob in her palm and rubbing it into her fur, creating a sud covered mess as the hot water rinsed down on the suds. she rubbed her cheek with her arm, enjoying her hot shower.
after washing off she turned off the water stepping up, using the towel on the nearby rack to dry off. since Fleida's clothes were wet she took no problem walking around the motel room naked, plopping on the comfy bed, the comfortable mattress pressing against her back as she looked up the ceiling of the small room.
She found it strange that when being given something you seem to value it more. a comfortable bed and a hot shower was something most people her age take for granted. her usual sleeping spot was behind a building with her clothes doubling as her blankets. she looked at the money in her pocket, thinking the best way to spend it.
"I'll leave tomorrow's problem's to tomorrow's me" Fledia decided as she turned on her side, hugging the pillow next to her. she decided she was gonna pamper herself tonight. considering she would be back on the street tomorrow she wanted to enjoy herself.
"Fledia reached for the motel remote, flicking on the Television as she looked for something to watch. the quality was crap but she didn't care, she flicked through the few channels they had and eventually stopped on an old cowboy show.
"If only I could stay like this forever," Fleida said, pulling the covers over herself getting ready for sleep. she leaned into the pillow closing her eyes and waiting for sleep. The sounds coming from the room next door weren't helping. Fleida wasn't paying attention but it sounded like two people arguing.
"Well, the quiet was nice while it lasted," she told herself trying to shut out the sounds coming from the next room. Considering the scenario, a few people were screaming in exchange for a warm bed, a good trade and for the first night in a while, the young husky slept like a log.
The next morning she stretched, getting up from the best night of sleep she had in awhile, she honestly did not even want to leave the soft bed knowing she had to be gone. she reluctantly left the soft and comfy bed walking to clothes, getting dressed.
Fleida headed into the office to thank the nice old panther for letting her stay, telling him how much it meant to her as she smiled, saying he was glad to help but if she wanted to come back she needed money. the young husky felt the morning sun on her fur and this felt like a nice day which she smiled.
"At least I don't have to beg out in the rain today," Fleida said, pulling a cardboard sign from her book bag, it had some rain damage but it was still usable.it was a folded piece of cardboard that read "Homeless but Anything helps. God Bless" which she sat beside.
"Excuse me, spare some change," Fledia asked, smiling to come off as more appealing
She earned a few weird glances but once in a while someone stopped by and tossed a few coins into her bookbag. Fleida took the time to thank each mammal personally. Despite her scenario she tried to have a positive attitude, seeing she was more likely to get money when she was smiling.
"Thank you, sir," Fledia said, smiling to the passerby as he walked away. Fleida did this for a few hours earning a small amount. she was sitting beside her backpack as her stomach growled fiercely. Fledia decided to get a bite to eat, folding up her sign and putting it in her backpack.
Fledia walked down the street heading to the local fast-food restaurant, she opened the door entering the restaurant as she walked up to the desk as the cashier, a teenage pig asked the young husky what she wanted. Fleida counted the money saying she wanted a burger with a side of small fries and a drink.
The cashier rang her up as she placed the money on the counter as the cashier put a plastic tray with a wrapped burger, a bag of fries and a paper cup. Fleida thanked him as she carried the tray to one of the tables, sitting down as she unwrapped the burger taking a bite out the sandwich.
Since being homeless fast food has become a staple of Fleida's diet with how cheap it was, while she would rather enjoy a homemade meal she was not picky with her food.
Fledia enjoyed the lunch, munching her sandwich as she swallowed the burger, taking a sip of her soft drink. After enjoying her lunch she got up carrying her tray to the trash can, brushing the remains of the tray, a few fries, and a couple of crumbs.
After stacking the empty tray Fleida walked out of the restaurant sipping the straw in her drink, the ice clattering against the paper cup as she sat back on the curbside. She finished her drink and decided she may go to the town park for a while to kill some time.
The walk to the park was brisk and enjoyed as Fleida placed her backpack down by the swing set and sat down on the swingset moving back as she let herself move back and forward on the set, she enjoyed swinging for a while, the wind blowing by the young husky as she swung back and forth.
The park was somewhat empty and only had a few kids walking around so she had the time to think to herself, she was given a bad hand but for now, she was just trying to make the best of it.
She spent a good while on the swing, the quiet sound of the park was soothing to her. The only noise that could be considered annoying was the metal scraping of the swing as she moved back and forth. Fledia kept swinging.
