Grandparents
It was a usual day at the Field's house, Lily was sitting on the couch, watching television with Daisy, Tinker, and Vicky. They were watching a movie about a masked killer stalking a bunch of teens around the woodland area. The film was a total cliché but they were enjoying it, Vicky picking up a piece of candy from the bowl, placing it in Daisy's mouth as she sucked on the fox's fingers.
Lily knew about Daisy and Vicky being a couple so they did not bother hiding it from her, Rosa on the other hand did not know about their more naughty sides and kept up the innocent act when she was around. The group continued watching as Lily's phone began ringing. The older bunny paused the movie answering her phone.
"Hello, yeah they are here, Vicky is here too, okay I'll tell them," Lily said, having her conversation on the phone as she talked with the voice on the other end. Lily smiled looking at the kids.
"Daisy, it's your mom, she said your grandparents invited us back to Terrabella for Halloween," Lily said as Daisy smiled, putting her hands up, she loved visiting her grandparents, they were so sweet and good to her. Her mother would always take her up to celebrate Halloween with them.
"Terrabella Halloween is the best Halloween, the people there give out king-size candy bars and the kids actually have fun," Daisy said remembering her friends back at Terrabella, asking if Tinker and Vicky could come and celebrate Halloween with them. Terrabella was in driving distance.
"She said that Tinker was coming with her, since she doesn't have anyone to stay with but she did not say anything about Vicky, I'll ask," Lily said speaking into the phone, asking Rosa if Vicky could come along. The two adults talked as Lily nodded as she turned to the kids, telling Vicky Rosa would have her dad. the two continued their call as Daisy clung to Vicky, telling her that she would love meeting her grandparents.
"Every year Grandpa sets up the best hayride in Terrabella, with all the interesting horror characters he and his dad created, they've been doing it since he was a kid. the townspeople love it" Daisy praised her grandpa as Vicky looked at her, admitting a hayride did not seem that interesting.
"Sitting on a bale of hay and being pulled by a truck though a horror decorated trail is better than it sounds, trust me the first time Daisy saw Dr. Bonesaw, She pee'd herself, yeah she was that scared"
"I was 5 and that costume is terrifying" Daisy admitted as Vicky looked at her, asking who Dr. Bonesaw was as Lily smiled, looking at the young Fox, telling the kids that Dr. Bonesaw was a character her grandaddy came up with. The whole thing about Dr. Bonesaw was that he was a doctor who went insane and began abducting and cutting up people, performing vile experiments on them.
"Sounds scary" Vicky admitted as Lily nodded, saying he sounded scary but seeing him work was another story. Tinker asked what she meant as Lily explained that on the hayride the truck often broke down so the passengers had to walk through the rest of the trail through an ensemble of horrific scenarios as Daisy looked at Lily asking what part of the hayride she always found the scariest.
"Honestly when I was your age, I used to have nightmares of going through Sackhead's corn maze, Once I got lost in there and Grandpa had to come in and get me out" Lily admitted laughing it off as Vicky looked at them.
"So, this family Hayride is really scary huh?" Vicky asked a bit nervously as Lily laughed, telling it was all fake and if she could not handle it there was always the kiddie trail. Lily teased Vicky who simply crossed her arms as Daisy leaned to her.
"Don't worry Vicky, I'll hold your hand through the scary parts" Daisy offered as the vixen smiled. Eventually, Rosa came back, carrying some groceries as she greeted the kids looking at Vicky.
"Vicky, I spoke with your dad. He said he'd bring you and your brother along, It was his idea to make it a trip" Rosa explained as Vicky smiled, thanking Mrs. Fields for letting her come along. Rosa told Daisy and Tinker to pack their bags because tomorrow they would drive up to Terrabella and Mr. Robinson would be behind them with Vicky and Todd.
Vicky waved to the group heading off as she headed home to pack her stuff for a few days in the country. Tinker and Daisy went upstairs as Lily and Rosa were downstairs alone as Lily looked at her older sister.
"So, how do you feel about heading back home? It'll be your first time since... you know Jack passed" Lily asked as Rosa simply huffed, losing her husband really affected her. they had been together since childhood. Rosa had a lot of memories of Terrabella and going back would be a bit hard on her.
"It's best I move on, that's what Jack would want, It's not good to mourn over him forever" Rosa admitted as Lily gently punched her shoulder, stating that she was acting like the big sister she remembered as she sat down with her, asking if she was planning on moving on.
"Define moving on," Rosa asked reaching at the bowl of candies the kids left from their movie as Lily looked at her, saying it was obvious to her that Rosa had a thing for Michael Robinson, and Daisy got along great with his kids, saying it seemed the two of them could work well together.
"Really, Me and Michael together, you see that happening?" Rosa asked clearly red with embarrassment for the fact of being found out for her feelings for Michael as Lily looked at her.
"Listen, Rosie, you're a very beautiful woman and I think Michael has feelings for you too so It's best to just jump in and tell him you like him, you're both single, but have experience with kids, I'll be honest I could see you two ending up together," Lily said as Rosa smiled.
"Ok I'll try to make a move on Michael this trip, but I honestly don't know If I'm ready to marry again" Rosa defended as Lily smiled saying there was shame in taking it slow.
"Your kids are close so obviously you two will spend a lot of together, there's no harm in taking it slow, romantic dinner here, a movie there, maybe a game of 'hide the sausage' and maybe after a while he'll slip you a ring and pop the question," Lily said as Rosa blushed at the mention of her being sexually active.
"Lily, I didn't really even do that, even with Jack, after we were married our sex life was on the back burner, then I had Daisy and after Jack died I haven't really done anything" Rosa admitted as Lily nodded.
"I Get it you got married and had a kid, but let me ask you something, do you remember our childhood, how we used to walk around Terrabella, hooking up with guys much older than us, they'd buy us candy and sometimes beer, we did not have a care in the world, a part of me wishes we could just go back to that, You, Me and Juniper, the Terrible Trio stomping around our home grounds because we owned it" Lily admitted as Rosa chuckled.
"I can't believe the stuff we got away with as cubs, remember that high school dance, we were about Daisy's age and all the local boys wanted to dance with us, they actually fought over who got to take us home that night" Rosa smiled, honestly missing her childhood as Lily looked at her.
"So, your family was obviously the reason you stopped. It makes sense, you were married then popped out a kid, you could not really afford to bring men home, but be honest do you miss it?" Lily asked as Rosa nodded, explaining that sometimes she wished she was still a little girl, back when her world was carefree.
"But when I look at Daisy, I feel comfortable with my choices, they led me here, so I can't complain, wait, you don't think it'll come up, back home?" Rosa asked, admitting she'd be beyond embarrassed if Daisy ever knew what she was like in her childhood.
"How many times have you been home, I'm sure those who do remember to keep their mouth shut, I mean, it's not the kind of thing you tell people" Lily stated as Rosa nodded, telling she did not know what she would do if Daisy ever found out. Lily assured her, she knew it was the past and knew that even if Daisy did find out, she'd probably understand, being an escort herself.
Lily found it a bit ironic that they both ended in the same route of selling themselves.
