's story "Clarence Coyote and Project Courier". It's nighttime in the little community of Duran, NM, and the families are settling down to watch a new show "in living color on NBC". Except not all families are lucky to have color TV's like Frank and Wanda Coyote's RCA. Some of them have to settle for black-and-white ones like Al and Marge Coyote's Zenith. For those who don't know, the NBC Peacock logo and animation were designed in 1956 by John J. Graham and produced through Elektra Films in New York. The original animation http://youtu.be/kPP4qfcEYUk first premiered on the show Your Hit Parade in 1957 and was used for the next five years. In 1962, the animation was changed to a more colorful version http://youtu.be/VE_oHJt_V5M . This version was first seen on the show Laramie, thus earning it the nickname "The Laramie Peacock". The logo turned out to be a great marketing tool. Local television dealers held Peacock promotions to publicize the NBC color schedule. NBC affiliates used the Peacock as promotional giveaways on items such as ashtrays, coffee mugs, playing cards, puzzles, and cufflinks. There was even an NBC Peacock board game produced in the mid-60's. I know the object was to be the first to complete the Peacock's tail, though I'm not sure about the details. While making this artwork, I was doing a Wikipedia search for the NBC affiliate in that area. Looks like "moyo" had the right one all along: KSWS, channel 8. Meanwhile, "moyo" is working on a modification of this artwork I made for him earlier:
You might want to think of this as an "art trade". In any case, I hope he likes it.
