~
It was the beginning of another weekend, something Ion always looked forward to, as he would go out adventuring with his two best friends. After getting dressed in his gear, he grabbed his trusty sword and headed downstairs to be greeted by his father and mother. After some small talk, Ion's parents told him to be careful on his adventure, but he was too excited to head their caution, as he quickly ran out the door, across the gardens of the family estate and down the main street. Ion quickly got to the city square, where Zephyr was usually waiting for him, but this time Ion seamed to have gotten there first. Waiting around for a bit, getting annoyed about and antsy about Zephyr not being there yet, Ion's mood changed when he could see Zephyr finally coming towards him, scythe in hand. Zephyr apologized for being late after he could sense Ion's annoyance, as the two boys set off to the city gate. Crossing the threshold, they entered the outer lands, continuing down the road and arriving at their other friend Flint's tribe's grounds. Getting closer to the small tribal village, Flint surprised them by jumping down from a small patch of trees, quietly sneaking up behind them, catching them off guard and giving them a small scare. Flint just laughed at Ion's and Zephyr's reactions, before the two boys playfully chased him, trying to get a bit of revenge but Flint was just to dexterous. Giving up, Ion and Zephyr called out a truce with Flint, with Zephyr giving him a playful punch on the shoulder when he got close and Ion coming up behind him and pulling him to the ground. Seeing their truce was a lie, Ion and Flint had a playful little tussle before Flint gave in and called defeat. Satisfied with their revenge, the three boys now headed out into the woods to finally start their adventure.

Heading in, the three boys decided to go in a different direction then they normally would, as they had not explored this part of the forest yet and they were eager to cover new grounds. They have been told not to go that way, but exploring the same old area was starting to get boring and with the three of them together, outfitted they way they were, they thought there would be no issue. This lead them on a path up and around a tall ridge in the forest, where the trees looked very dense below, kind of unsettling, as they nicknamed that part the dark forest. Not wanting to go down there, the three of them decided to continue up the ridge, the path was getting smaller and the ground was crumbling a bit but they decided to solder on. The came to a part where the path became so narrow, that they had to cross it one at a time, the ground looked a bit unstable, but they were confident they could get across. Flint went first, getting across rater easily, Ion was going to go next but Zephyr was a bit apprehensive about going last, so Ion let him go ahead of him, where he would follow not far behind. Zephyr took it slow, from his body language, you could tell he was not overly comfortable in crossing, but didn't want to let his friends down. He got to the mid point, where his confidence boosted a bit but after he took his next step, part of the ground gave way, causing him to slide down the ridge but thinking quickly he reached out his hand, being able to grab a part of the ledge that was still in tact. Ion rushed over to help from one side, with Flint rushing over form the other, with Ion getting there first, grabbing Zephyr's hand with his own, as he tried to pull him up. But the ground fully gave way, causing Ion and Zephyr to slide down the ledge, Ion tried to keep an eye on Zephyr but he started to go in a different direction, tumbling over where he could not tell what was going on around him. As Ion continued to fall, he could feel small pains in his body from hitting a couple of protruding rocks on the ledge, before he felt a sudden larger pain in his head causing him to black out entirely.

Light started to enter his eyes again after who knows how long, as Ion could feel a small headache but other then that he could not feel anything broken. He was able to get to his feet, looking around he could not see any sign of Zephyr or Flint, as the area around him was fairly dark with all the dense forest around him. Looking up though, he could make out the angled ridge he tumbled down from, the path up top was fairly high up with no way to scale back up. Not knowing whether it would be best to stay put or try and find his friends, Ion decided on that latter and continued on deeper into the forest, keeping his guard up and prepared to draw his sword at a moment's notice. Walking through the trees, a strange scent started to fill his nostrils, as Ion looked around he could see peculiar stuff glistening between the trees, with it getting thicker the farther he traveled. Ion could make out it was spider webbing, but a lot different from what he had seen before as his mind telling him not to go any further. Ion turned around to go back the way he came, but he saw that was not possible as he was cornered by quite a few spiders, most of them almost as big as he was. Forced to continue forward as the spiders started creeping closer to him, Ion had to go deeper into the thick woods, the webbing getting thicker and thicker as it was becoming clear he had entered the spider's nest. Ion hoped he could out smart them and get around them to go back the way he came, but as luck would have it more spiders started coming towards him from the front, with even more coming around the sides, through every part of the dense forest fully surrounding him. Ion could see this must be the centre of their nest, knowing now the only option was to fight his way out, Ion drew his sword, taking glance around at his surroundings, readying to defend himself. Trying to attune himself to the spider's movements, Ion could sense them moving one by one, as the spiders began to come at him, some fiercely running at him on the ground while others tried to jump at him. Ion started cutting them down, it was easier then he thought it was going as he let his senses take over, reacting to the motion of each spider coming his way with skill and finesse as he was able to thin their number quite quickly and effectively until there was only one left. Ion readied a stance, looking intensely back at the large spider as it had him it it's gaze, fangs ready to pierce. Ion steadied himself, slowly breathing as he watched the spider carefully, as it suddenly jumped up and lunged at him but Ion was prepared, quickly slashing his sword upwards with a powerful two handed strike, cutting the spider in two. Looking around at the bodies of the dead spiders around him, Ion took a deep breath before placing his sword on his back and started walking back out the direction he came. As he was about to leave the main part of the nest, a thick shadow appeared over Ion, as a spider suddenly fell onto him from above, it seamed to be waiting for him to leave to make it move, catching Ion off guard. The spider had him pinned down, as Ion tried to kick it off him to no avail and on his back, he could not draw his sword.

Cursing at the fact he didn't recheck his surroundings after the fight, Ion could feel the spider dig it's legs harder into different parts of his body making sure he could not move his arms or legs anymore. The Spider then lifted it's fangs up, readying for a bite into Ion's neck, which caused Ion to have a look of fear in his eyes. Struggling to move, feeling the sense of urgency as the spider's fangs lowered, feeling them touch the fur on his neck, Ion fought back enough to break free one of his arms, pushing the spider's face away with his hand, as one of the fangs pierced his paw. Ion cried out in pain as he tried to grit his teeth but at that moment it happened again, a sudden surge of electricity flowed through him, causing a bolt of lightning to appear from the sky, striking down and hitting them both. While Ion could not feel any pain from the lightning, actually it was quite refreshing for him, dulling the pain in his hand, the spider spazzed violently as it red markings started turning dark black, with it curling up into a ball and rolling off Ion. Taking a couple of deep breaths as he was a little stunned, Ion looked to his side to see the spider not moving, as it seamed to be fried to a crisp from the lightning he summoned, it was a power Ion hoped he would understand more and learn to fully control but at the moment, it seamed to only come out when he was in great distress. Getting back to his feet Ion looked around again, this time more aggressively to see if there was any spiders left before moving on and once he was satisfied that there were none, he decided it was now time to get out. But as he tried to take a step, Ion felt weakness in his knees, as a sharp pain began to pulse from his hand again. Looking at his hand he could see where the spider had bitten him, but then he came to the sudden realization that the spider was probably venomous, that he was probably poisoned. This is bad he thought, as Ion tried to move forward only for his legs to buckle, falling to his knees, he was now having trouble breathing and his mind was starting to race as the panic set in. Ion tried to stand back up but to no avail, as he kept stumbling and shaking uncontrollably, feeling extremely nauseous. Ion vision was now getting blurry as tears started running down his face, he didn't want to die here but there was no help around, he felt hopeless as he laid face down on the ground, barely being able to move. Then suddenly Ion thought he could hear a familiar voice, he tried to turn his head towards the direction it came from, but his body could take it anymore, as darkness overfilled his eyes, with the world around him vanishing from sight.....

Ion's part is complete, so to continue the story, next up would be Zephyr's part https://inkbunny.net/s/2485147

If you haven't read anything since the last time you commented, then you have missed a lot, though all story stuff is compiled in my pools "Fantasy Stories" and "Artwork with Stories" depending if they belong in the full fantasy category or are just character building stuff. Tikki-Hiko is a really great artist, which is why I am commissioning this set from him, unfortunately his commissions are closed for the moment so the other parts will have to wait a bit. I love that style of hat as well, which is why I have young Ion wear it, the boots have a small story to them as well (which is found in "young adventurers") and their connection to a certian someone is why he still wears them even in adulthood

Oh do not worry, i'll find a way ^^

That's the time of the day when i think too much and i was wondering, is it normal that the sword seem backward ?
I have seen that in a lot of drawing a little everywhere that the blade of the sword that should be "toward" the enemy feel "toward" the wielder. Like in here the longer part of the blade seems the more effective to hit someone for exemple.

I'm definitely thinking to much....*fall asleep* XP

While that is probably true fr a image it looks better if the sword is facing the viewer, just get to see more of the detail
