"Rome, 64 AD. The emperor Nero has unleashed his fury against the Christians. Their crime: proclaiming a king higher than Caesar. Setting fire to the city, Nero places the blame on the Christians, and launches a new champagne to wipe them out! Families are separated; children left homeless as thousands are sold into slavery or thrown to the lions! Escaping the panic of the fire, and dodging the advancing soldiers, a group of children find shelter in the gentle care of Ben and Helena: a local baker and his wife. Here, the children discover an amazing, secret network of daring men and women who risk their lives to help one another, and to tell the stories of the great storyteller: the one called 'Jesus'.
...This is their story. They are: The Story Keepers!" :3
'The Story Keepers' (TSK) is among the better animated Christian shows (I've binge-watched most of the episodes available online). ^^
TSK is best watched in sequence, as the entire series is mostly one long arc.
...I should warn you, the art and animation are VERY rough, though they improve as the series progresses.
TSK is fairly unique in that it's less about Jesus and more about the Christian underground ...which was a real thing, albeit, I'm sure many artistic liberties were taken here. The series isn't without some continuity/logical issues. For one, the year is 64 AD, yet Ben claims to have seen Jesus in person ...which would make Ben pretty old---much more so than he's presented here. ^^
This card shows most of the main cast of kids, as well Ben and Helena. Alas, I'm one kid shy (the card is missing Justin---I just didn't have enough space). :p From top left to right, the card shows: Ben, Helena, Zac, Marcus, Anna and Cyrus.
The card was drawn via a Wallace 'Zephyr' 3H pencil, and delineated via this scriptural pencil by Broadman Supplies. The pencil reads,
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16)"
As a Christian, I believe that as best I can. I'll not go too deep into my beliefs, as the last time I did, it resulted in a long, fruitless quibble over semantics. :P
Thank you! The show does look rather familiar. I might have seen an episode when I was very young. The show is certainly old enough to have been aired in my childhood.
