MONDAY, AUGUST 8th, 1960

Marge was already preparing breakfast before the cubs got out of bed that morning.
Al came to the boy's bedroom and said to Jed, Rex and Clarence, "Up an at 'em, boys. I know you don't want to miss breakfast".
"Oh, morning already?", Rex replied.
"Can we sleep a little longer?", Clarence asked.
"It's time to get up", Al said to the cubs. "And your mom is fixing up pancakes this morning.
"Awright! Pancakes!", Jed proclaimed as the cubs wasted no time getting out of bed.
"Pancakes! Gee wiz, I'm up for that", Rex proclaimed.
"Yea pancakes! I'm hip! I'm hip!", Clarence added as everyone laughed.
"I'm hip?", Jed asked Clarence.
Al then said to Clarence, "I realize you're trying to pick up on the phrases we use in this day and time, but that did come off a little awkward".
"That's beatnik talk", Rex chuckled.
"Looks like we got a little beatnik in our midst", Al jested as the cubs, including Clarence, laughed.
As the boys, still in their pajamas, then made their way to the dining room, Al went to Donna's bedroom to get Donna up.
"Time for Daddy's girl to rise an' shine", Al said to Donna.
"Just a few minutes more?", Donna asked in a still half sleepy tone.
"We're having pancakes this morning", Al said to Donna.
"Pancakes! Why didn't ya say so?! I'm up!", Donna exclaimed as Al got a laugh from that.
"I did say so", Al replied. "But I shouldn't have to say so. When it's time to get up, it's time to get up".
"Okay, Daddy. I'm up", Donna said as she, still in her night gown, got out of bed and made her way to the dining room.
As the cubs arrived to the dining table, it was just in time for pancakes to be served up with butter and honey, and orange juice for beverage.
"I see pancakes was the magic word for getting the cubs up this morning", Marge said to Al.
"I don't see how they could resist", Al replied as he turned on the TV in the living room to KSWS Channel 8 News.
"We like pancakes", Donna proclaimed.
"They're the best", Rex added.
"If making pancakes gets the cubs out of bed early, I should make them more often once school begins", Marge mentioned.
"Yea, school begins after the end of this month", Al said. "That will be September 5th. On a Monday".
Four weeks from today", Marge affirmed.
"Aw, I wish summer could be a little longer", Donna retorted.
"Yea, it seemed like it went by so quick", Rex added.
"Well, you should enjoy the time off while you have it", Marge said to the cubs.
"Maybe I might be starting the 4th grade in 2018?", Clarence asked.
"Depends on how soon we get the time machine operational", Al answered Clarence. "But on the bright side, if you do have to start 4th grade here in 1960, you'll be getting a better education than from what you told us school will be like in the 21st Century".
"You'll still be in the same class with me", Rex assured Clarence.
"And in the same class with Sheryl", Donna also assured, being that Sheryl and Clarence are cubhood lovers.
"Well just have to play the paw of fate that's dealt to us", Marge assured.
"It's just making a replacement for that osculation fluctuator that's holding us up now", Al mentioned. "Once Jamar Mongoose can make heads and tails of it, the time machine is as good as fixed".
There was then a KSWS News report on their Zenith black and white TV in the living room. It showed of a wrecked laundromat in the background with a news anchor at the scene...The TV can be seen from the dining room table.

On the TV, a cocker spaniel was receiving on the scene news coverage from a news anchor;

"On the scene we have Luis Mink...Luis, what can you tell us has happened where you are at?"
Luis Mink: "Yes, Phillip. I am here at the Clean Rite Laundromat in Albuquerque...Or what's left to it anyway after vandals had made a wreck of everything here during the night. As you can see, everything here has been damaged or completely destroyed. I've been told that none of the equipment is serviceable at this time, and much of it is even beyond repair".
Phillip Cocker Spaniel: "Wow. That's a shame. Have any suspects been identified in this so far?"
Luis Mink: "Sadly to say, Phillip, no. As of this time, no one but the perpetrators themselves know who committed this uncalled for and senseless act of destruction. The only thing to go on so far is that the police presume it was most likely done by teenagers out joy riding during the night, though that can not be ruled an affirmative assertion at present time".

Al mentioned, "The parents of any teenagers who done that should take a stap to them. And take it to them good and hard".
Marge added, "And any parent who lets that go unpunished should have a strap taken to them for not raising their cubs right".
"Couldn't agree more", Al agreed with Marge.
"Who done that was really stupid", Rex mentioned, not realizing the laundromat vandals were the pit bull bullies with their girl friends where he and his siblings attend school...Though one of the girl friends goes to school in a different county, and one is a high school drop out.
"That laundromat looks more like someone blew it up", Jed remarked.
News Anchor Luis Mink then interviewed the owner of the laundromat;

Luis Mink: "I have here with me the laundromat's owner, Ricardo Cougar. Ricardo, just how bad is this?".
Ricardo Cougar: "I don't know an exact figure right now. But I can tell you who ever done this has probably done over twenty thousand dollars in damages to my business property".
Luis Mink: "Twenty thousand dollars. That's a lot".

Over $20,000 in 1960 was like over $200,000 in the first two decades of the 21st Century.
"Boy oh boy", Donna exclaimed. "I sure don't wanna be the one of them who done that if they ever find out who did it."
"Who ever done it should be made to pay for every bit of it", Marge said.
And sure enough, after Luis Mink asked Ricardo Cougar if he plans to prosecute who ever is found out to have done it, he replied still on the air on TV:

Ricardo Cougar: "Oh absolutely. Absolutely. If they find out who did this, I plan to have those animals prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If they find out who it is, they're going to pay for every dollar and dime of damage they did to my business establishment".
Phillip Cocker Spaniel replied from the TV station: "Or their parents will pay for the damages if they're underage".
Luis Mink: "That's right, Phillip. Under state law, parents are responsible for what their cubs do".
Ricardo Cougar: "If I find out who did this, they better hope I don't get my paws on them first".
Luis Mink: "Well, let's not go that route".
Phillip Cocker Spaniel replying from the station: "Oh definitly not".

"I wish that cougar who has the laundromat lotsa luck if the law ain't gonna do anything about it", Clarence said.
"Well they have to find out who done it before they can charge anyone", Al advised Clarence.
"And don't use ain't", Marge corrected Clarence. "I've told you about that before".
"Okay, Mom", Clarence acknowledged, then continued, "I mean if the police do find out who did it, and they don't wanna do anything".
"What ever gave you a notion like that?", Marge retorted to Clarence.
"That's crazy", Jed said.
"Yea", said Rex.
"That would be a lawless society", Al retorted. "That doesn't happen in America".
"It don't?...I didn't know that about now days", Clarence replied. "But in the day and time I'm from, cops will let someone who they know does things like that walk away free".
"That's unbelievable", Marge replied, then corrected Clarence, "And it's police officers, not cops".
On the KSWS news report about the vandalized laundromat, Ricardo Cougar offered a reward;

Ricardo Cougar: "Luis, let tell me everyone out there...".
Luis Mink: "Go ahead, Ricardo".
Ricardo Cougar: "Are we still on the air?".
Luis Mink: "Yes we are".
Ricardo Cougar: "Good...I am offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the animals who did this. And you all out there hearing my voice on TV heard me make that offer...I mean what I say, and I say what I mean".
Luis Mink: "Well you heard it, folks. If you know who did this, you have a chance to get $500".
Phillip Cocker Spaniel from the TV station:"I know if someone can come forward with that information, Ricardo Cougar would appreciate it...So would we at KSWS TV".

A $500 reward in 1960 is like a $5,000 reward in the 21st Century.
"You mean to tell us that 50 years from now, the police will let someone get away with doing $20,000 worth damage to the property belonging to others?", Marge asked Clarence.
"Sometimes", Clarence answered. "Actually lotsof times. Like in California".
"Well, California's not like that now", Al said. "No place is".
"Except for in some 3rd world country where their government has collapsed", Marge added.
"Well, we're talking about here in America", Al replied.
"In my day and time, I also heard of animals being caught with stuff they stole and they were allowed to keep it", Clarence said.
"What!", Jed retorted. "Someone's property is not someone else's to take or break".
"It's not", Marge added.
Clarence then told the family about how police would stand down in the 21st Century and ignore vandalism, riots, looting, and attacks on other animals after the election of 2016.
"I remember seeing that on TV when I was 6 years old", Clarence said. "And my actual mom and dad would ask what is this country coming to".
"I'd be asking the same thing too", Marge said.
"If things got that dangerous, that's when I'd be ready with a shot gun to protect this family", Al proclaimed.
"Yea, but that's when the cops...I mean police, would leap into action and arrest you for having the shot gun", Clarence replied.
"The Hell! What kind of day and time did you come from, Clarence?", Al retorted.
"Al, your language in the presents of the cubs", Marge reminded Al.
"Sorry about that", Al replied to Marge, "What Clarence just told us is so wildly absurd, I couldn't help but to let that slip".
"Wouldn't the news stations on TV tell everyone that everything is messed up?", Jed asked Clarence.
"No no. The news stations in the future like it all being messed up", Clarence exclaimed. "My actual mom and dad where I'm from said so".
"I can't even comprehend that", Al retorted. "And I'm a scientist".
Clarence went on to say, "And there's this goofy looking rat who wears round glasses on a show called MSNBC. He's Morning Joe. And he would have been mad at that cougar on TV for offering the reward".
"Why?", Marge asked Clarence. "He has every right to offer that reward".
Clarence answered, "I guess because Morning Joe Rat would think who ever wrecked that laundromat were victims of a bad environment or something like that".
"Is that NBNCB, or what ever, suppose to be a comedy show", Rex asked Clarence.
"It's pretty crass satire if it is", Marge said.
"No, it's not", Clarence replied. "It's the actual news in the day and time I'm from".
"That would be propaganda", Al replied. "The Soviet Union has that. So did Nazi Germany 20 years ago".
"It's unbelievable what's coming in 50 years from now is what we taught Clarence the Pledge of Allegiance for", Marge mentioned.
"Hence why it won't be taught in school according to what Clarence told us back in February", Al said. "But it is still good we took the time to teach that pledge to Clarence".
Donna then asked Clarence, "Are you sure you don't want to just stay with us and grow up in the 1960s with the rest of us?"
"This wouldn't be Clarence's proper place in time though", Al promptly assured Donna.
"And I know that Clarence has his original family in the future he would want to be reunited with", Marge added.
"I realize now how much the day and time I'm from is messed up ever since I've seen what everything in this day and time is like", said Clarence. "But I still miss my original family".
"Even with Sheryl being in this day and time?", Donna asked Clarence.
"Even with Sheryl being in this day and time. Yes", Al interjected.
"I wonder if Sheryl would want to go with Clarence to 2018", Donna mentioned.
"Yea, that way, they can get married in...oh say...2028", Rex suggested.
Al then told Rex and Donna, "Sheryl's place in 2018 will be as a female Coyote in her 60s. Clarence's place in 2018 is as an 8 year old cub".
Al, Marge and their biological cubs could hardly believe how appalling Clarence had told them that politicians, police, mainstream media and the snowflakes in society would be after a half century later.
"I know things are not like that now", said Marge. "But our grand cubs and great grand cubs will have to deal with what Clarence had now told us"
"They'll have to make the best they can of it in that day and time", Al assured Marge.
There was some time for Al to spend with the family before going into work that morning. A repair team wouldn't be going out to the time machine landing site on Highway 54 that day being that the only hold up left was trying to back engineer and replicate that osculation fluctuator. That Monday morning, Al Coyote and Greg Otter would be on a project developing a special kind of radar jammer. There were some components needed to get the prototype working which were expected to arrive aboard a Hennis freight truck at the lab complex shortly before noon. Until those components arrived, there was no point in Al leaving for work just yet.
After breakfast, and after the cubs got dressed from their pajamas to their regular clothes, Al spent some time in the front yard with the cubs playing catch with a softball. As soon as Marge was finished cleaning the dishes, she too joined in playing catch with Al and the cubs. Not long thereafter, a few neighbor cubs came by, whom being Randy Fox with his brother Alvin, and Ryan Lynx with his sister Janice.
"Can we join in?", Randy fox asked.
After the family agreed, Al said to the neighbor cubs, "Sure. Come on".
What started out as 6 playing catch was now 10 playing catch, in which everyone had a great time enjoying each other's company.
Later in the morning, it was starting to get hot. Thus, everyone finished playing catch, as Randy and Alvin Fox, and Ryan and Janice Lynx went on through the neighborhood to explore other activities. As the Coyote Family went inside, the cubs went to the den that had been set up for their 027 gauge train board lay out (the kind with three rail tracks)... By the way, that lightning struck, Route 54 sign that Marge and the cubs had picked up south of Pastura was already hung up on a wall of the den.
As always, the cubs had lots of fun running the toy trains. Al and Marge even had a go at it.
Rex even pushed a toy die cast metal automobile up to a crossing and stopped it just short before a toy train would have hit it.
"Just like last Saturday", Al commented about Rex's reenactment with the toy car.
"They barely stopped in time too", Rex proclaimed.
"I won't forget that as long as I live", Marge said of the real life incident two days ago.
"I don't think any of us will", Al added.
It was shortly before noon when the phone rang. Marge was the one who went to the dining room to answer the call (their phone was a wall hung phone in the dining room).
Moments later, Marge came back to the den and said, "It's for you, Al. It's from the lab".
"Those parts we need probably came in", Al said as he left the den to go to the phone.
"Hello", Al Coyote greeted as he picked up on the phone in the dining room.
"Hello, Al. Those parts Greg and you need will be here any time now", Harold Wolf informed Al.
"Okay, great. I'm on my way", Al replied.
"We'll see you", Harold said.
"Okay, bye", Al signed off.
"Bye", Harold replied before they hung up.
"The parts we need for that project are arriving. I gotta run.", Al said to Marge as the cubs made their way into the dining room.
"I'll see you this evening Marge replied as she and Al gave each other the usual hug before Al leaves for work.
"Gee, Dad. What is it you're building?", Clarence asked.
"Classified information. Remember?", Al replied to Clarence.
"You know Dad isn't allowed to talk about that stuff", Jed said to Clarence.
"That's right", Al added.
"Remember, Clarence. Loose lips sink ships", Marge reminded Clarence.
"Oh...I guess I forgot", Clarence admitted.
"It's almost lunch time", Marge said to Al. "Do you want me to fix up something before you go?".
"I appreciate it. But I think they want me there as soon as I can", Al replied, then assured Marge, "I'll grab something on the way".
"Love you", Marge bid to Al as he began to head out for work.
"Love you", Al replied.
Al then got into the Chrysler 300 and he was on his way.

Upon arriving in Encino, Al stopped by at a fast food establishment franchised by A&W Root beer company to get something to go, then it was a short drive the rest of the way to the lab as Al ate his lunch while driving to there.
As Al arrived to the lab, there was already the Hennis Freight tractor trailer rig with the driver, a kinkajou, unloading the components needed for the project. Of course, the scientists there had to be the ones to let the truck driver into the lab, being that he didn't have a security code to get in.
As Al entered the lab, Greg Otter greeted him and mentioned, "I just got here ten minutes ago. I got the phone call about the parts we need arriving".
"I got that call a while ago too", Al replied. "Nothing holding us up now".
"Hello, Al", Harold Wolf greeted, then informed him, "As I had told Greg, we need to get this project on the way. Nathan Collie got a phone call from the Pentagon, and they're starting to get impatient for us to have a working prototype to contract out to a manufacturer for them".
"Yea, we all know how those military animals can be", Greg Otter said.
"Tell me about it", Harold jested.
"Those top brass always want something yesterday", Al jested.
"Sometimes they forget we actually invent things here, and how long that takes", Harold Wolf agreed, then admitted, "Although you can't blame them when they got senators and congressanimals breathing down their backs to have the latest technology to keep ahead of the Soviets and Red Chinese".
"And that technology comes from animals like us", Greg Otter added.
"That's so true" Harold Wolf agreed, then said, "Well, you guys need to get right to it. And if you need assitance, let me know and I can assign some assintants to help you".
The way this radar jammer Al and Greg were developing was planned to work is; When an eneny radar is jammed by conventional means, they know that you are out there jamming their radar, thus they go on high alert. However, this jammer isn't intended to jam a radar in the usual way. What it's suppose to do is give the enemy's radar a false shift in their signal that your bomber planes are as much as 200 miles off from where your planes actually are. Provided the project is successful, and when put into use, the enemy forces would have no idea that their radar is being messed with, and they send their fighter planes out assuming your bomber planes are 200 miles away from where an air raid is actually about to happen. Their fighter planes would be looking for your bomber planes that aren't their while a target in their country 200 miles away is getting bombed to pieces.... However, that project is highly classified information that Al Coyote, Greg Otter and others involved on the project are not allowed to reveal or discuss to anyone outside of Horizon Innovations Laboratories.
Later on, during an afternoon break, Al Coyote asked Jamar Mongoose how it was going with that osculation fluctuator.
"My team and I had made great strides on it to begin with", Jamar answered. "But now, we've run up against some real challenges with it".
"Challenges that now stand as obstacles, I take it", Al replied.
"Oh yes, it's become a tough nut to crack. Obstacles is an understatement with this now", Jamar admitted. "Even Ho Wang Panda and Woodrow Raccoon said they've never seen anything like it before".
"Woodrow and Ho Wang are among Horizon's top scientists too", Al mentioned.
"Clarence sure did one when he burnt that part up on his way to this day and time", Woodrow Raccoon said as he came walking over.
"Curious cub. He didn't know what he was doing", Al replied.
"Hence why he should have left that damn time machine alone in 2018", Lenard Wolverine remarked after overhearing the conversation.
"Well, bickering about it isn't going to fix anything", Jamar Mongoose interjected.
"Agreed", Al added.
Jamar Mongoose then discussed arrangements he already requested to Harold Wolf to have  Poindexter Fox's uncle, Professor Nickolas Fox, make the trip from Groom Lake at Area 51 to lend assistance in analyzing the damaged osculation fluctuator.
"I'm sure Lola Binturong and Daren Margay will accompany the professor like the previous times they've been here", Al said.
"I would agree being they've been doing experiments out there with sending small objects through several hours of time", Greg Otter mentioned.
"From what we know, they've constructed an apparatus on a table to send those objects through a time portal they've managed to create", said Woodrow Raccoon. "That's different from traveling through time in a vehicle".
"True. Though, while they might not be familiar with the how our time machine works, their time portal experiments out at Area 51 might use similar components", Jamar Mongoose surmized.
"Come to think of it, I'd have to say I'm on page with that", Woodrow agreed.
"Professor Nickolas Fox is among the most top revered in the scientific community", Al affirmed. "I don't think anyone in this lab complex would know of anyone else we could turn to".
"When should we expect them?", Greg Otter asked.
"From what Harold Wolf told me, Professor Fox is still making arrangements for some time away from Area 51 to come over", Jamar replied.
Before long, the break time was over. Thus, Al Coyote and Greg Otter got back to work on design, signal shifting experiments and development of the radar jammer... The project for the time being was to get a workable prototype on a small scale in operation. Once a full scale prototype was finally built, it would be tested in Nevada out at Area 51 as not to disrupt commercial air traffic control.
The afternoon proved to be productive as Al Coyote and Greg Otter gained headway on devising the groundwork to work several experimental design concepts from for the radar jammer. Harold Wolf later assigned Lenard Wolverine to assist on that project. Procuring help from a 3rd scientist was of great help to the project.
It was around 5:30 in the afternoon when everyone at the lab called it a day. Before heading home, Al placed a phone call to the house from the Lab... After Al heard the phone on the other end ring a few times, he heard Marge answer, "Hello".
"Hello, Hon. I'm getting off from work now", Al replied. "And I was wondering if you all would like to go to The Hop this evening".
"Hold on while I ask the cubs", Marge said to Al.
Al could hear in the background as Marge asked the cubs if they want to go to The Hop, followed by the cubs cheering.
"It's a definite hunky dory", Marge came back on and said to Al.
"I could hear the cubs cheering", Al replied as he and Marge chuckled.
"We should be ready to leave when you get home", Marge assured Al.
Al then asked, "You want to see if Frank and Wanda want to come along?... To have Sheryl come along with Clarence".
"Oh, Clarence would appreciate that", Marge replied. "I give them a call after we hang up".
"Okay. I'll see you when I get home", Al said to Marge.
"I'll see you", Marge replied before they hung up.
With the phone call made, and arrangements started for an evening out at The Hop, Al then headed on home.
When Al arrived home, Frank and Wanda's 1955 Chevy station wagon was parked on the street in front of the house. That in itself told Al that Frank and Wanda accepted the offer to accompany the family to The Hop.
Everyone greeted Al and the cubs cheered as he entered the house.
"We're ready to go", Marge said.
"We really appreciate Marge and you inviting us", Frank said to Al.
"It's our pleasure", Al replied.
"And it's for Clarence before he eventually goes back to the future", Marge mentioned.
"Oh yea, I know our little Sheryl and Clarence will miss each other once he goes back", Wanda affirmed.
"This is more things they can do be together while he's still with us", Frank said.
"Aw, that's oh so like one of those romantic ballads", Frank and Wanda's teenage daughter, Dotty, said.
"It is, now that you mentioned it", Frank replied to Dotty.
Marge then asked Frank and Wanda if their son Gerald and his wife Cindy would like to come over and join them for the evening out.
"Gerald and Cindy have other plans for the evening", Frank replied, "But we appreciate you asking".
"Well, the evening's not getting any younger", Al mentioned.
"We're all ready when you all are", Frank replied.
With that said, Al, Marge and the cubs, including Sheryl, got into their '60 Plymouth Fury station wagon...with Clarence and Sheryl sitting next to each other. And Frank, Wanda and Dotty got into their two door '55 Chevy station wagon. Then they were on their way, with Marge driving ahead as Frank followed behind. It was agreed to keep the speed down to 60 mph being that Frank and Wanda's Chevy wagon was a six cylinder with the "three on the tree", and wasn't made for the higher speeds.
From the neighborhood, they ran that short distance of Route 3 over the Southern Pacific Railroad crossing to Highway 54, then north on 54.
Along the way, they past by the time machine landing site where Clarence arrived to 1960 and where he would depart to return to 2018. They past by the vacant stretch of land that would some day be the home of Clarence's biological family. And they past through the town of Vaughn. Along a rural stretch of Highway 54, everyone noticed that Highway 54 sign that was struck by lightning had already been replaced.
In the Plymouth wagon, Al mentioned, "I see they replaced that Highway marker sign already".
"They sure didn't waste any time doing it", Marge affirmed.
"I'm glad we got the sign that was struck by lighting in time", Rex proclaimed.
"Yeah. If they got to it first, it would have gone to the dump", Jed added.
"Wow, that's so cool you got that sign", Sheryl said.
Before they left the house, Clarence had already showed Sheryl the lightning struck sign that hung on the wall where the train board is.
In the Chevy wagon, Frank said, "Jerald and the boys got the new sign up, I see".
"Lightning can make for job security", Wanda jested, knowing their son Jerald was on the highway department maintenance crew that put the replacement sign up.
Eventually they went through Pastura, then later arrived to Santa Rosa where they turned west on Route 66, then back over the Southern Pacific Railroad on the Route 66 crossing.
And several miles down Route 66, there it was on the right... The Hop... With it's neon lights lighting up into the night, and it's large nostalgic drive up canopy out front.

As the two station wagons pulled up under the drive in canopy, the following song could be heard playing on the outside speakers from the jukebox inside.

Also, there was a Chevy panel truck owned a KSWS Channel 8 News parked at the end of the parking lot.
"I wonder what that's about", Marge said of the news truck as she parked the car.
"Could be misappropriation of a company vehicle for personal use?". Al jested as Marge chuckled.
"Maybe The Hop got robbed", Rex jested.
"That's even more far fetched", Marge replied as everyone laughed...being that there were animals still inside having a good time.
The two car hop foxes in short skirts and on roller skates, Beth and Jane, greeted Al, Marge and the cubs, as well as Frank, Wanda and Dotty.
"What's with the news truck?", Al asked Jane Fox.
"Channel 8 is doing a short documentary of The Hop tonight", Jane answered.
"I think we picked a good night to come here", Marge replied.
Frank mentioned from the other car, "Maybe we'll be on TV tomorrow".
"I'm told it will be a short segment on the morning news", Jand said to Frank.
"Are Jerald and Cindy coming here tonight?" Beth asked Frank and Wanda.
"No. They have other plans for the evening", Frank said.
"Well tell them hello for me", Beth replied.
"We will", Frank assured Beth as Wanda nodded in agreement.
At the Plymouth wagon, Jane mentioned, "Well, we're sure glad to see you all back again".
"You're kinda cute", Rex called out from in the station wagon to Jane.
"Okay Rex. Watch your manners", Marge called him down.
"Aw, that's okay. Rex is a little cutie himself", Jane Fox remarked as everyone chuckled and Rex felt a little blushed.
About that time, a teenage cougar couple pulled up in a black, hot rod, 1950 Mercury chop top with flames painted on the front end.
Shortly after the male teen cougar blew the horn, The Hop's owner, Roger Irish Setter, called from the kitchen curd service window, "Beth. Jane. You got customers here. Don't be standing around and conversing when you got customers".
"Okay", Jane acknowledged.
"I got it", Beth said to Jane as she roller skated over to wait on the cougar teen couple.
Shortly after that, two teenage Australian Shepard couples on a double date pulled up in a customized, 1957 Plymouth, two door fastback.
"Gotta run", Jane Fox said to the coyotes. "I've got customers, and they usually tip well".
"Catch you later", Frank bid to Jane.
"See ya", Marge added.
The coyotes then got out of their cars and went on inside. As usual, there were couples dancing out on the dance floor, and pratons playing the pinball machines.
Upon walking in, Roger waved to Al and Marge from the kitchen doorway as he always does as the coyotes waved back. Roger also gave a wave to Frank and Wanda being they are also regular customers.
There were also others enjoying jumbo shrimp and onion ring baskets, and some enjoying home made ice cream. The Hop was locally renouned for their superb jumbo shrimp and onion ring baskets and famous home made ice cream.
"Al. Marge. How's it going?", waiter Calvin Kinkajou greeted.
"Very well, thank you", Al replied.
"And you, Frank? Wanda?", Calvin asked.
"Couldn't be better", Frank replied.
"Sit any where you like", Calvin mentioned, already knowing they like the booths at the front windows.
The coyotes took booths near the front windows overlooking where the cars park under the curb service canopy. Al, Marge, Frank and Wanda sat at one booth.
For seating at the next booth over, Patty Coatamundi suggested, "Let's move a table against the end of the booth table, with two chairs, and that will make seating for six for the cubs and Dotty".
"That will work", Marge said as Calvin Kinkajou agreed.
With the table moved up to the booth, Clarence and Sheryl sat together on one bench, Rex and Donna sat on the other bench, and Dotty and Jed sat at the table that was moved up to the booth.
Calvin Kinkajou was working the booths near the windows, and asked the coyotes, "Will it be the usual?"
Everyone agreed, "Yes"...Jumbo shrimp and onion ring baskets with hush puppies, and with sides of cole slaw... Who could resist?
Thus, it was ten orders of the Jumbo shrimp and onion ring baskets. The adults ordered ice tea for beverage, while Dotty and the cubs ordered their favorite brands of soda.
After Calvin placed the order at the kitchen dine in window, a stoat with his wife put a nickle in the jukebox to play the next song.

"Oh Clarence. That's a cute song", Sheryl exclaimed. "Wanna dance to it?".
"Sure thing", Clarence replied, then asked Marge, "Can we, Mom?"
Sheryl then asked Wanda, "Yea, can we, Mom?"
"Yes you can. Go ahead", Wanda replied as Marge agreed.
With that said, Clarence and Sheryl got out from the booth as Dotty made room for them to scoot by. Once out on the dance floor, cub dancing to the song Tall Paul, the teens and young adults who were dancing found Clarence and Sheryl to be quite a cute little dancing couple.
Not only did Clarence and Sheryl catch the attention of the others dancing, anchor reporter Luis Mink from KSWS News, and camera-animal Rosco Raccoon got footage of them dancing.

When the song was over, the order for the jumbo shrimp baskets weren't ready yet, so Clarence and Sheryl decided to stay out on the dance floor for the next song.

Al and Marge also got out on the dance floor for that song. And not long there after, Frank and Wanda got out on the dance floor as well... After all, Tell Me Your Dreams is a pretty romantic sounding number.
Not long into the next song, the jumbo shrimp basket orders were ready, and it was dinner time. As Calvin Kinkajou brought the meals to the tables, Al, Marge, Frank, Wanda, Clarence and Sheryl headed back to the booths.

"They got the best shrimp of any place within a hundred miles of here", Frank Coyote said as they sat down to eat.
"I'd be willing to say within two hundred miles of here", Wanda boasted as everyone agreed.
"They know how to do shrimp right", Al acknowledged as Marge agreed.
"And these onion rings are the most too", Dotty said.
After a well enjoyed meal, Marge asked the cubs, "You cubs want ice cream?"
The cheer the cubs let out was a definite "Yes".
"I'm up for some ice cream too", Al said as Frank and Wanda said the same.
Marge and Dotty ordered root beer floats. Al ordered home made cherry pie with ice cream a la Mode.
"That sounds good", Wanda said of the cherry pie a la Mode that Al ordered.
Thus, Wanda also ordered home made cherry pie with ice cream a la Mode.
Frank has always been a big fan of apple pie, and The Hop also had home made apple pie that night. Thus Frank ordered some home made apple pie with ice cream a la Mode.
Rex ordered a butterscotch sundae. Jed ordered a vanilla shake. Donna ordered a strawberry shake. Clarence and Sheryl ordered a large banana split with raspberry topping and whip cream to share between the two of them.
Of course, being canines, the coyotes made it a point to avoid chocolate or fudge... Though a little hot cocoa occasionally when it is winter time does no harm, the coyotes know that chocolate products are generally not good for canines.
After finishing their ice cream, the adults and Dotty socialized a while as the cubs played with some of their train board size toy cars and trucks they brought along with them.
"Just be careful not to knock anything over on the table with those little cars", Marge said to the cubs.
"We'll be careful, Mom", Jed replied in behalf of the rest of the cubs.
A while later, Al asked, "Anyone feel up to some bowling?"
"Sure. Why not?", Frank replied as Marge and Wanda agreed.
"You cubs want to play the bowling arcade?", Dotty asked the cubs.
"Sure", said Jed.
"You betcha", Rex replied.
"Me too", Donna replied.
"And me", Sheryl added.
"Same here", said Clarence.
In addition to the pinball machines The Hop has, there is also a bowling alley arcade machine.

Everyone decided to pair off into two teams; One team was Al, Marge, Jed, Clarence and Sheryl. And the other team was Frank, Wanda, Dotty, Rex and Donna. Each member of the teams would take turns bowling the ball down the arcade machine for their team.
Al volunteered to put in the dime for the first game of two players. It cost a nickle to play 10 frames for a single player. And it cost a dime for two players, 10 frames each (The machine wasn't designed for any more than two players, or any more than two teams).
Once Al put the dime in, and selected for two players, the bowling arcade machine seemed to come to life as it released the softball size bowling ball down the long return chute to where the players stand.
"Want to start off?", Al asked Marge as she volunteered to go 1st up.
Marge rolled the ball down the alley and it was a seven as 7 of those representations of bowling pins flipped upward on their hinges.
After the machine returned the ball back down the chute, Marge then took her 2nd roll in which she got all three of the remaining pins.
"Cool! Alright, Mom", Jed exclaimed.
"Well, it's a spare anyway", Marge boasted.
There was no need to maintain a score sheet, being that the machine has an automatic scoreboard.
After the pins flipped back down, Dotty went 1st up for the other team, and  rolled a split leaving two pins hanging down on opposite ends.
"Aw, I bet you won't make a spare out of that", Rex said to Dotty as the ball returned.
"You never know. I might get lucky and make a killer shot", Dotty assured Rex as she picked up the ball.
"I don't think this machine's able to do killer shots", Frank said to Dotty.
"Yea, it's not a real bowling alley", Al surmised. "That far apart, it can only be one or the other".
Thus, Dotty took her 2nd roll, getting the right remaining pin.
After the pins flipped back down, Al was 2nd up on his and Marge's team. Al made that 1st roll right dead center on the money and it was a strike... all ten pins on the first go.
"Awright, Hon!", Marge proclaimed to Al. "That's the way to do it!"
"You got it Dad!", Rex proclaimed.
"Oh yeah!", Sheryl proclaimed.
"Yea, got 'em all!", Clarence proclaimed.
After the pins flipped back down again, Donna was allowed to be 2nd up on Frank and Wanda's team.
Donna picked up the ball... It looked like it was going to be a good roll... She rolled it.
"Aw shucks", Rex retorted. "Gutter ball".
"Stupid ball", Donna retorted as all pins remained hanging down.
"Looks like we're beating you all", Jed said as the ball returned.
"Well, it's about fun and the sport of it", Frank assured Rex, Jed and Donna.
"That's right", Al added. "It's how you play that's important".
Donna then went for her 2nd roll and made a six.
"Well, you got six of them", Wanda complimented Donna.
The pins flipped back down, and Jed was 3rd up on Al and Marge's team. Jed's first roll was a seven.
"Three still up", Clarence said.
"Bet I get 'em though", Jed said as the ball returned.
Jed then made his second roll, getting only one more pin, making an eight.
"Aw, I missed those two", Jed said.
"You're still part of the team", Marge said to Jed. "And an eight isn't too bad".
"I just wished I could have got 'em all though", Jed replied.
After the pins flipped back down, Frank was 3rd up on his and Wanda's team. And when Frank made that first roll it was a strike.
"I think we're gaining", Wanda said as Dotty, Rex and Donna cheered.
"That was a cool roll, Daddy", Dotty said to Frank.
The pins flipped back down, and Sheryl was 4th up on Al and Marge's team.
Sheryl made her first roll, getting  only two pins.
"Oh darn it", Sheryl retorted.
"You have another roll", Marge said to Sheryl as the ball returned. "Give it your best"
Sheryl then picked up the ball and made her second roll and got seven more pins, making a nine.
"I got all but one!", Sheryl cheered. "Awright!"
With the pins hanging back down, and the ball returned, Wanda was 4th up on her and Frank's team. And she scored a strike like her husband did.
"Wow cool! We're catching up, Mom", Dotty said to Wanda.
"Looks like we're passing them", Wanda replied.
"Neato", Rex proclaimed.
Suddenly, the coyotes heard Roger Irish Setter call out, "Hey! Get that drink off my machine! You know better!".
"Well it's sure not us", Dotty mentioned to her folks and the others.
"It's those teenage raccoons at that pinball machine over there", Frank said. "One of them has a soda on it".
"Yeah, Roger doesn't like that", Al commented as the raccoon youth who owns the soda moved it off the pinball machine and onto a table of the nearest empty booth.
With the pins flipped back down, Clarence was 5th up on Al and Marge's team.
Clarence made his first roll getting nine pins.
"Wow. Just one left and I can get a spare", Clarence proclaimed.
"Take your time with your next roll", Marge coached Clarence as the ball returned.
"I will", Clarence replied as he picked up the ball.
As Clarence carefully made his second roll, he got that last pin, making a spare.
"I got it! A spare!", Clarence proclaimed.
"Good going", Al complemented Clarence.
With the pins back down, Rex was 5th up on Frank and Wanda's team.
Rex's first roll got nine pins.
"Awright, Rex", said Dotty. "Now go for that spare".
After the ball returned, Rex picked it up and made his second roll. But you know that saying that goes "close but no cigar"... Rex's second roll came really close, but didn't get that last pin.
"Aww, I don't believe it", Rex retorted missing that one pin.
"There's always a chance to do better next time", Frank assured Rex.
On the remaining five frames per each bowler, the coyotes went up in the same order as they did with the first five. Frank and Wanda's team won the game, although the game was still very enjoyable for everyone.
After having a great time playing the bowling arcade machine, there wasn't anyone else waiting to use the machine. Everyone else was either playing the pinball machines, dancing, dining or socializing.
"How 'bout another game?", Frank offered. "I'll spring for it this time".
"I think we're up for it", Al replied as everyone else agreed.
Thus Frank put in a dime, and the coyotes went for another game. It was another great game everyone enjoyed, and this time it was Al and Marge's team that won. And during this last game, Sheryl made a strike, which was the first strike in any form of bowling she had ever made. It was certainly considered a mile stone for her by the others.
Luis Mink and Rosco Raccoon from KSWS Channel 8 TV were still there getting movie footage for the documentary segment in the morning. They had captured film footage of the animals playing the pinball machines, as well as moments of the bowling arcade game the coyotes were playing.
After the 2nd game was over, everyone headed back to their tables as as a really nice song began to play on the jukebox.

"This song sounds so romantic", Clarence said to Sheryl. "Whada ya say?"
"Oh yes, I like to", Sheryl replied, then asked Wanda, "Mom, can we?"
"Yes, you may", Wanda answered.
Thus, Clarence and Sheryl danced to The Diamonds song, Little Darlin.
After the song was done, Clarence and Sheryl went back to the booth to play with the toy cars with Jed, Rex and Donna, as Dotty entertained them by pretending to be a traffic controller.
Later on, the cubs wanted to play pinball, so the adults let them have a go at it for a couple of games...Roger Irish Setter always kept some bar stools around the pinball machines for cubs, as well as adult animals of short stature, to sit up high enough to play the machines.
The parents also played a pinball machine as two husband and wife teams.
Everyone had a good time that night, and it was now going on 11:30 pm... A half hour before midnight.
Luis Mink and Rosco Raccoon fron KSWS Channel 8 were also getting ready to call it a night. But first, they needed to get signed releases from those who didn't mind being seen on TV. They didn't have any difficulty finding animals who were willing to sign a release... In fact, everyone there thought it would be so cool to be on TV, thus everyone signed a release.
"What time will this all be on the news tomorrow?", Frank asked Luis Mink as the coyotes signed the releases.
"We're running the documentary segment starting at 7:15 in the morning", Luis Mink answered.
"I'm definitely getting out of bed in time to see it", Rex said as everyone laughed.
"You all have some wonderful cubs there", Luis complimented the parents as Rosco Raccoon agreed.
"Oh, thank you", Marge replied in behalf of the other parents.
Al, Marge, Frank and Wanda then introduced the cubs to Luis and Rosco.
"I remember you did the report on the laundromat this morning", Jed said to Luis Mink.
"The one those nut jobs tore up last night", Rosco Racoon replied.
"Yea, it was a mess", said Louis. "Who ever done that really needs to get a life".
The coyotes conversed with Luis and Rosco a bit longer, then they bid each other good night as Luis and Rosco left.
Al, Marge, Frank and Wanda then pitched in on the tip for Calvin Kinkajou, and Al paid the bill for everyone in the party being it was he and Marge who invited them along.
Everyone had a great time, and as late as it was, it was time to head on home. Riding arrangements going home were the same as they were on the way to The Hop. Thus, after arriving home to Duran, Al and Marge stopped by to drop Sheryl off with her parents, Frank and Wanda.
Of course, Clarence and Sheryl gave each other a big hug before Sheryl got out of the Plymouth wagon to go to her Mom and Dad.
"If you all want to come over tomorrow morning, we have a colour TV to see that documentary report", Frank offered Al, Marge and their cubs as Wanda agreed.
"Well, Frank, we appreciate it", Al replied.
"Thank you", Marge said to Frank and Wanda. "We'll be over in the morning".
"Yea, our TV is just a black and white TV", Donna said.
Everyone then bid each other good night, then Al, Marge and their cubs headed to their house. Once at home, everyone got to bed for a good night's sleep... After all, it was already past midnight.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 9th, 1960

After getting up the following morning, and getting dressed, Al, Marge and the cubs came over to Frank and Wanda's house as invited last night.
Wanda prepared some coffee for Al, Marge and Frank, as Frank turned on the TV to Channel 8.
Wanda also poured some Kool-Aid for the cubs. However,Dotty took a Coke-Cola.
Frank phoned Gerald and his wife Cindy about the documentary segment on Channel 8.
Then there it was...The documentary segment about The Hop was now airing on TV.
