I was browsing YouTube some weeks ago for preschool animation, because that's what single white men in their late 30's do online. ^^

Anyway, by virtue of this, I discovered 'Trotro': a series of French animations based on the books by Benedicte Guettier.

Basically, if you like 'Maisy' or 'Paz', you'll find 'Trotro' appealing. :3

The characters are cute, if not a bit simple (aesthetically), and the stories can be followed (for the most part) even if one isn't learned in French (that I'm aware of, there are no English dubs).

Go here to see Trotro in action (link tested 8/30/2020): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_2hbMkeks0

I drew Trotro via my Zephyr, which has taken the place of my 9H Dixon as my preferred drafting pencil. ^^
Ah, but Dixon isn't out yet, for I delineated my Trotro via this Dixon 'Typhonite' pencil.

This Typonite is a 4B, which makes it among the softest pencils in my inventory. That said, I wouldn't say it's the darkest or the smoothest, albeit it functions well enough as an 'inking' pencil.

The drag is acceptable, though the line produced is spotty ..as well very stubborn to erase (I made a mistake on Trotro's arm---that errant line is here to stay).
The barrel of the Typhonite has a slightly greater radius than most standard pencils (which is usually the case with these inking pencils), though it falls short of 'jumbo' width.

There was some tedium in honing a point on it fine enough for this ACO, though the Typhonite was certainly more manageable here than the Faber 'Black Magic' pencil (so far, the best of these dark-lead pencils for making and keeping a point, has been the Eagle 'Alpha').

I was offered the full set DVDs box two years ago for chrismas.
Nice drawing of Trotro. :)
His two friends Lili and Nana are interesting to draw too. These characters are very simple but cute.
If you enjoy Trotro, I suggest you to check out "Bali", "Milo" and "T'choupi". I don't think they ever were translated to english though. I know "Petit Ours Brun" and "64 rue du zoo" were however. These are the kind of simple and cute series made for very young kids but which are enjoyable for adults too, because they are not silly, they are just cute.
( Actually my dream job was to work as an animator on these series, too bad I could not. )

I'm ever so glad you like!

I'll check those out once I've time enough to devote to them. I'm always adding things to my draw list, so maybe one of these will find their ways on (Milo, incidentally, looks adorable in his little red bather! XD). :3
