I've been less nervous about uploading bare human-shape-cub bottoms than I am about uploading this, mostly because we live in such a cancel-culture society ...but, then, I remind myself I am nothing and no one, so I'm effectively cancelled already! XD

Anyway, looks like Pinky Beaver is fault-finding again...

PINKY: "Dude! Put some shorts on!"

DOGGOBOY: "Why!?"

*he thinks for a second*

DOGGOBOY: "Oh, I get it. Look, it's just fur, ok?"

PINKY: "Seriously? Then get a haircut, since that looks really inappropriate!"

DOGGOBOY: "Or maybe you have a dirty mind?"

*a wild reshiram appears*

RESHIRAM: "Is everything ok here?"

Of course, Pinky herself isn't wearing a bottom ...but, then, she's a female character in an IceAgeChippies cartoon, so (pass?) ^^

And reshiram... I recall when I first saw this pokemon ...and, yes, my mind went there. :P

I highly doubt I was alone in that interpretation, albeit my perspective seems to be in the minority.
I ...just really can't unsee it, esp. on furry/funny-animal OC characters.

THAT will likely get me shot (again, I draw nude human-shape-cub characters---I'm in NO position to criticize). ^^

Anyway, I will be taking this cartoon down, esp. if anyone complains (...and I'm not maturing it since it's just fur ...right?) :3

This doesn't need a mature rating and given the kind of kinky stuff that is considered acceptable around here I wouldn't worry about posting kinky stuff. And I wouldn't worry so much about offending someone although you should pay attention to reasonable feedback.

FurAffinity has a lot to say about this (I uploaded it there, too).

I'm paying attention, to be sure. I know how heated ideas.opinions can become.

Fa is an entirely different site, their policies don't count over here. Why not ask the mods if you have doubts?
IceAgeChippies

I think you're kinda not getting the point of this cartoon. ^^
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
Well, could you explain the point? EDIT: yes there are unreasonable users who might see things that aren't there. And?
IceAgeChippies

It's a challenge to the use of and acceptability of, crotchfur. That's why, at the end, I said I wasn't maturing it (and I know that's challenging to FA).

I'm not a prude---I take it you've seen my mature art ...but I know what I'm doing, and I have rules, etc., I abide by when I make such art. Those who use crotchfur seem to be challenging tolerance ...which doesn't end well, usually. I'm challenging it myself, but in a constructive way (akin to saying 'Um, maybe you should mature that?' when someone forgets to).
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
Yes, I have seen it and for someone who isn't a prude it is rather tame. :-) I have seen far more extreme stuff on this site and elsewhere.
IceAgeChippies

Ah! I like your perspective (as it's different from mine).

I have a hypothetical scenario for you, if you care to indulge me.
FoxyIbLover

Well, I would love to hear your hypothetical scenario. Go ahead.

Ok, say some clever person used a computer program to add crotchfur to the male character here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DAMSGTC1Sg

...It's a long cartoon, but you don't need to see the whole thing---you'll probably get where I'm going right away.

To me, from my mortal and finite perspective, crotchfur looks like a peen or (on female characters) pubic hair. :P
But, being fair, let's say I agree that it's fur, and only fur. ...but say someone else comes along and draws a character with a peen ...and presuming we're talking about simplified cartoon/funny-animal characters here (as appear in this comic), what would be the defining difference? as you have seen, when I draw peens, they're very simple---may as well be crotchfur.

Crotchfur brings attention to the crotch. If there's no genitals there, then the fur is bringing attention to an area filled with nothing, so it's a nothing focusing on (well) nothing ....so why draw it to begin with?

What are your thoughts on crotchfur, Nelson? :3

My pleasure!
If we are going to criticize why many cartoon characters do not wear pants, we must make a big protest to Disney since they are the creators of most of their characters being pantless ... right Donald Duck?Lol!^^
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
I concur, but the issue isn't about not wearing pants, but about having peen-shaped fur.

What something looks like depends on the views of the observer. An artist can draw a crotch in whatever way for whatever reason. Whether or not a crotch attracts attention depends on the person. Why draw crotchfur? Why draw a blank crotch. Why is society in general so uptight about genitelia?
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
I see (thank you for your perspective).

I guess I come from a world where so much buzz is made about sex/sexuality in general.

I'm an asexual, which means I don't experience attraction or think of other persons as sexual objects. Consequently, I notice the sexual side of things more---sometimes these irritate me when I know I should be either turned on or finding them funny.
Even the most innocuous terms like 'cream pie' or 'beaver' are used to refer to sex in some way, so I find myself surrounded by sexual innuendo and talk, to the point where I myself begin interjecting it into my worldview and art.
In light of that, I find it baffling how a mainstream franchise (Pokemon) can draw (what is effectively/visually) a peen on one of its characters ...and no one criticizes it ...at all---not even the crowd that can't review an 80's kids cartoon without inserting a sex joke/term every two minutes. The crotchfur seems to be something 'I' have sexualized, rather than a thing that's been sexualized for me. It's just strange.

Pokemon? Do you have examples? Also could you tell me more about your background, that is of you don't mind... Here are somethings I would like to know, (you don't have to answer if you don't want to):
1. What country are you from?
2. What religion do you or your family members adhere to?
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
Reshiram is the primary one (the comic refers to it): https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Reshiram_(Pok%C...

USA; non-fundamentalist Christian
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
Christian? USA? Figures. Sex and nudity are essentially "EEEEK" to those as far as I know... And I am sorry but that pokemon does not really look like it has a peen. Although I admit is a weird design.
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
How about when a furry does it (not naming names, but here's an example): https://sta.sh/01zeeqfg3p43

...So you're generalizing me? :3
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
No, I didn't mean to generalize anyone. And that character does indeed look like it has a peen.
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
Kinda falls apart anyway given I'm drawing what could be construed as a naked child in cuddly scenarios. ^^

...Religion does have an influence on my art, yes. But so do my personal boundaries (again, I'm asexual, so even if I don't have a problem with sex as a concept, I'm still not going to draw any). There's also the respective AUPs of the sites I upload to, as well as the govenment/State law/s. It's a potporri of things that determine what I do and do not draw (my faith, again, is only part of that).

When it comes to sin, I think of it in terms of house cleaning. Like, say I decide to remove everything from my home that is or could be 'of the devil' ...I wouldn't have a house before long---nothing to offer anyone or even to shelter myself. I create limits---I allow myself to have XYZ thing that a fundamentalist (which I said I was not, in my reply) may have an issue with, on the grounds that 'I' decide what is and is not right in my life, using God (among other things) as a reference/guideline, but not as an absolute (as there is too much gray in the world to think only in black ad white).

I don't know about the other artists and their laws, but this site allows quite extreme stuff. On other sites you may have to post fairly tame stuff, but over here you don't.

Usually I make an educated guess as to what is acceptable. The worst I have had so far is a suspension on this site because I had dealt with a user whom I felt was annoying in a rather stupid manner. I prefer not to go into details but suffice it to say that while that user was a bit of an idion imho I was a huge ass. That and a few warnings and deleted posts here and there.

Drama rarely comes my way, but when it does, I count the giver as 'text on a screen'---no sense reasoning with them, as they don't want to be reasoned with.

Insofar as what's acceptable, I isolate myself as an individual, for I believe God knows each of us personally and meets us where we are. In light of that, God knows what this and that means to me, as well as how/why I include certain elements in my drawings (and so forth). So, though God is involved, I use and rely upon reason to determine what does and does not fit the Chippy 'brand'.
I have drawn things I shouldn't've---those things have always revealed themselves to me as 'wrong', so I know there is/was a difference.
God doesn't take away any (real) fun, and as you say, there's a place on the internet for effectively everything. It's up to us to determine what we're to do with the talents we've been given, as well as how we treat/respond to those who watch us/our work. :3

"Drama rarely comes my way, but when it does, I count the giver as 'text on a screen'---no sense reasoning with them, as they don't want to be reasoned with."  - I would recommend never assuming someone can't be reasoned with unless you have tried doing so.  Sometimes there might be a legitimate reason for drama or you might be misinterpreting something as drama. I have seen a lot of users banning me, delete my posts, and lock threads because they would not listen to my views and assumed I was just another asshole. I will admit to being a bit tactless at times but very rarely if ever stir up drama for no good reason - that is to be just an asshole. I made the mistake of being too quick to assume someone else was just being an ass and dismissing them just because I didn't care for their tone. In short: try to listen and be reasonable even if you feel someone is being an ass. If you really disagree you can always say that and then dismiss them.
IceAgeChippies

The quote implies drama had been determined, as the quote details how I address it (rather than how to identify it).
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
That's good. :-) But have you ever felt someone was being unpleasant but nevertheless had a point?
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
Sure---we see instances of that on the news every day. :3
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
Alright, can you be more specific? I myself for example have had to swallow my annoyance and listen to what my boss or parents had to say to me despite the fact that I felt they were being unpleasant. Usually I had to admit they were right about what they had to say. I have told them on occasion they could be a bit nicer about how they told me something but of course I had to do that at the right moment - in a tactful way. Usually it is best to first deal with what you were told in a proper manner. One of the problems I see on the internet is that is sometimes too easy to shut people out if you don't want to listen. Offline you couldn't get away with just terminating a relationship unless you were willing go pretty great lengths. I am not saying it is wrong to occasionally not have contact with someone or even to cease any contact at all. Just don't be too hasty to do something rash - offline or online.
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
Well, I dont want to give the right answer to the wrong question... so I will ask why you want me to cite a specific example (this may help me in my choosing of one, if in fact I need to).
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
You say you would first determine whether or not something was drama before dismissing it. Do you have an example of that? Such as the one I provided? (parents/boss) EDIT: and you mention seeing instances every day...
IceAgeChippies
5 years, 2 months ago
None I'd be willing to share, as the subject would either be divisive or, itself, lead to more questions (that have nothing to do with crotchfur/art). ^^

In general, persons tend to make their intentions obvious (whether they know it or not), by use of hyperbolic words, abundant use of obscenities, insults, semantics, short replies, etc; reacting rather than responding. It's a case-by-case thing.

For a bit of specificity in the other direction (as well a return to the original subject), I think you perceive it as obvious that this cartoon isn't seeking drama---it doesn't insult anyone and ends with some reasonable doubt (in either direction). Someone who wanted to stir the fish would take a position and object to any contratry perspectives (with an attempt to belittle/guilt those who hold them). :3
FoxyIbLover
5 years, 2 months ago
Okay, I can respect that.

Be careful to make assumptions. But hey, it's your life. :-)

I personally don't think it is insulting...
IceAgeChippies

I don't make many assumptions, though we all see things through the lenses we've created/that have been given us ..so there's always a degree of cynicism/bias lurking somewhere. :3
