wrote a backstory to his character (who just appeared in page 37) set in my "Children of Maeria" setting. You can find it at https://inkbunny.net/s/2214836

If you like my comic and HAVEN'T read Caiden's story yet, then what are you waiting for?! At the time of this posting, I can see that it is criminally underfaved.

Anyhoo, I decided to try a claw at making a book cover for it. The kind you'd find on a little paperback kids' book. I loved this story so much, and especially the connection between the Maerian versions of Caiden and his friend Grayson. I liked seeing Caiden's take on day to day barracks life in the Light Infantry as well. For the most part, unless I produce something myself that contradicts any of the events or lore in this story, I'd say Caiden's Tale is canon within my comic's universe.

As for the cover, I wanted to draw a prequel scene of sorts. What's going on here doesn't actually take place in the book. basically, Caiden starts off on the bad side of Sergeant Bart (the pig boy to the right). Unfortunately, the sergeant has a bit of a sadistic streak and had assigned Caiden's best friend, Grayson, to be his "babysitter." Unfortunately, the two were late for morning formation, so the good Sergeant Bart decided to subject them to the classic punishment of "diaper drilling." Basically they get to drill until the sergeant is satisfied, all while missing the bottom half of their uniform. Bart suggests, that if Caiden and Grayson had less of a uniform to put on, maybe they could actually make it to morning formation on time.

Naturally, if the two privates give the sergeant any lip about the next two hours of drilling, they'll have committed a "spanking offense." That's a punishment that Sergeant Bart is only too happy to administer. Luckily, Caiden and Grayson managed to avoid that punishment today.

Great book cover!Another bunch of cute face expressions!
I'm sure that paddle will leave a good red and sore(bottoms) memory on them ... but at least they got rid of the punishment!^^

Luckily today, the paddle was just there for show. Public paddlings are reserved for the most heinous of crimes and not necessarily for sloppy soldiering.

I’m sort of curious what type of wars cubs would be training up to fight in. Like would the enemy army be cubs or adults? What would the fights look like? Violent or something less harmful.

This is based on my comic universe. I'm not sure if you're being broad with your question or asking specifically about the story. If you read Caiden's Tale, it depicts a small skirmish.

Basically, the cubs are defending against incursions from extra-dimensional entities they call "demons" (for lack of a better word). The demons are basically just monsters looking for the "soul energy" in living creatures. It lets them remain for longer in the cub's dimension and continue hunting. Since Cub society is trained to be nonviolent, they dispatch the enemy with stunning weapons that leave them paralyzed until they dissipate back to their home dimension.

The cubs use antiquated tactics by our standards because they don't want weaponry to be too powerful or easy enough for one person to use to harm others. Basically, if you want to direct violence on someone, you have to gather up a bunch of other like minded individuals to be effective. Of course, from their perspective, paciguns and pacicannons are cutting edge tech and have helped to maximize cub victories and minimize casualties since they were introduced.
