Hachigatsu - Yama no hi:
August, Mountain Day.
Oh my! This one took a while to release, huh.
Bah, I've in truth been putting it off. The initial desire was to make it into an entire mountain, with villages and all. But then quickly realised it was exceeding the fundamentals of having to be simplistic. So, I suppose I sort of cut off the rest and prettied it up to look appropriately ethereal.
Mountain Day, in Japan, is actually a fairly new; relatively speaking; national holiday. Much like Ocean Day, it is celebrated in appreciation of Japan's many, many mountains, peaks and forests that surround them.
Much like appreciating the Ocean and what it has to give for the Island-Nation; Mountains around the island also have a lot to give. Not only in harbouring the largest ecosystems in the several islands that make up Japan, but also for being some of the last hosts of untouched, free-roaming life.
The mountain above was inspired by Mount Fuji, but no apparent likeness was kept. Simply a lovely mountain.
This is part six to the initiative project, "Twelve Month Holidays" [Japan]
