Shichigatsu - Umi no hi.
July and Marine day/Ocean day.
Inspired quite greatly by Hoksai's (artist) own traditional and infamous painting of the Kanagawa Wave; Hokusai's wave has become almost synonymous with Marine day.
A day where the nation of Japan comes together to celebrate and show gratitude to the plenty that the ocean provides the island-nation. Of which it provides the majority of food, as well as having a significant historical point. Marine Day is about both oceanic conservation and thanksgiving, both by reverence and happiness.
This is part five to the initiative project, "Twelve Month Holidays" [Japan]
