Had an idea for the outfits your characters wear.
Would you consider having them be barepawed most of the time, unless they are firefighters, soldiers in combat, or need paw protection for some reason like that? Seems a logical situation for furred beings.
Also, should they maybe be commando (no undies)?
Both are completely up to you... :)

Going commando is still common for younger animals. And bare pawed is common for cubs, and also older animals when in casual settings.
