This is a train I posted in one of my other accounts several years ago

.

I've never posted it before here on this account.

It is a C.F.B. Railroad train in Angola, Africa back in the year 1915.
This was when the country was still a colony of Portugal.
Like nearly all steam locomotives in Angola back in the day, this locomotive is a wood burner, which means it has a larger fire box because wood doesn't burn as hot as coal. And the fire box is not design to withstand the higher temperatures produced by burning coal, being it is meant to burn wood.

This train is not a narrow gauge, by the way. It is a standard gauge train, which larger than trains built for narrow gauge lines.
The doors have been removed from the box cars, because those are economy travel cars for those paying 3rd class...That is the way it actually was with the C.F.B. Railroad back in those days.

When would the engine be taken out of use?

Is locomotive 702 American or British built?
And if locomotive 702 was withdrawn, what locomotive replaced it?

It's British built.

If it were pulled, a similar locomotive would replace it.

My bet would be the Vulcan Foundry 4-6-2 tender locomotive

The tender section being part of the locomotive would be too small to be suitable for long hauls...Especially considering also that Angola's steam locomotives were wood burners.

The locomotive would be comparable. However, it would still need to have a separate tender car being that wood doesn't burn as long or as hot as coal does.

Wanna hear an interesting piece of history of my fictional country Northern Nathan and it’s railway. This one was written in Cristina and Yelon Railway circa 1901.

I can read it on my android when I get to the house in 40 minutes.  Right now, Starbucks is getting ready to close for the night.
