When Isaac stepped down as the leader of the kingdom of Norland he went into seclusion in the northern woods, taking on Hunting Contracts whenever he could to get his mind off the sorrow of loosing the one he loved. 14 years went by until a fateful day when 2 young lads came wandering into his forest, being trailed by some lower class bandits seemingly unaware. He trailed them, expecting to prevent any damage to the young boy but was surprised when they quite handily were able to defeat the bandits themselves, though somewhat sloppy in their techniques. Following them some more, he took an interest in their abilities and decided to playfully confront them. As they fought, Isaac could see the boy's weaknesses and exploited them, trying to teach them a lesson in the process. One of the boys frustrated, got down on one knee and calmly asked if he could spare them and let them pass by. Isaac getting a closer look, was surprised that the boy looked like his grandson that was just born before he left the capital of Norland all those years ago. Isaac placed his sword on the boys shoulder and asked what his name was and when the boy answered "Ion-Yggdrasil", confirmed his suspicions that it was indeed his grandson. Seeing the other boy getting on his knee as well, Isaac told them that while he would not let them pass by, he offered to train the both of them so they could survive in the world on their own. The boys seeing no other option agreed and asked the name of their new "master". Isaac not wanting to tell Ion who he was just told them to call him Arturo, which was one of the names given to Isaac when he first became a knight all those years ago. A few years went by and while Isaac was hard on them, Ion and Zephyr were exceeding his expectations and bringing him joy that he had not felt since the love of his life had passed away. Isaac learned more about what his son (Ion's father) did for his kingdom when he took over from Ion's stories, as well as the unfortunate story of their other friend Flint who passed away from illness, which brought a start to their journey. Every evening before bed, Isaac made Ion and Zephyr spar friendly to keep their skills up and to practice the lessons they have learned thus far. One evening he took out his knight medallion, a green coloured medallion with an image of a yggdrasil tree on it, that once gave him the title of "knight Yggdrasil" the family's namesake. Looking at it made him fell happy, knowing that his family was growing strong, with his son finally doing well after all those years he spent fighting against him, Ion taking an interest in learning the ways of a night, as well as his granddaughter (Meeka) from his other son who was still doing well for her own and the new knowledge that he had another grandson (Matias) that would keep his family growing and his dreams for Norland alive. Finally feeling great for the the first time in years, he put the medallion away and turned back towards Ion and Zephyr still sparing, Ion being overly aggressive but Zephyr taking advantage of an opening, knocking Ion to the ground, plunging his scythe down towards Ion's chest, stopping just short but drawing a tiny amount of blood. Isaac chastised Ion for his recklessness but then told them to go wash up and get ready for bed. They both ran off enthusiastically but exhausted from their hard work as Isaac took one last look at the sun setting sky, being thankful for his new purpose in life
