I haven't watched the leaked episode so I'll be catching it in a bit when it actually runs on Tha Hub.
I hadn't drawn Rarity's mane and tail before and had the worst trouble with it at first. I hated that mane. Now after starting to see how it works and drawing it I really like her mane. The design is beautiful and I like how it came out both in lineart and in color. I think I'm beginning to really 'get' G4 pony proportions too. I tried to do some shadows while keeping the mostly flat cell shading style of the show so hopefully it looks okay.
I've drawn Spike a little taller and more mature looking than he usually is in the show. In sketches their heights just didn't mesh very well for a romantic kiss without Spike standing on a box. I like to think he'll grow up somewhat like he appeared in Cutie Mark Chronicles instead of his brief maturity in The Secret of my Excess. I just love drawing his tailspike in three dimensions.
This is a larger pixel size than I usually do for fanart. The file with all layers ended up about 117 MB. It's not that complex, just big.
