It's the Year of the Dragon and The Hub is going to have a Spike episode marathon so I just had to do a picture of him.  He's way too cute not to draw.  He's also a wellspring of hope, which makes him even cuter.  A always want to hug the little guy.

It's my interpretation of the library tree.  It's always bugged me that the books look like blocks of color most of the time.  So I made them look three-dimensional and scribbled random stuff on the spines.

I think his gaze is slightly off but not too bad.  He's still way cute.

I considered putting Angel in the background looking angry but I think it's better this way.

Thanks! The feet weren't easy. The pose I did in the first sketch was different with his feet in perspective but I thought it broke up the vertical line of the pose and didn't have that chubby look. The body part I was most pleased with is his tailspade. It tends to be a two-dimensional point in the series animation. I had to give it some depth.

Just a software Q, did you use ArtRage for this? The marathon was on my birthday so it was a nice brony present for me :3

Yup. The whole thing was sketched and painted in Artrage Studio Pro 3.5.4. It's probably about 15 layers total in the final version. I paint in some layers and flatten them out later. I didn't record the process on this one but I could do a tutorial on how I work.
