Okay folks, here's the special art project I have been ground pounding on for the past several days. This is a modern retake of Jerry Lee and the original cast of characters as how they were decades ago long before I created the Chipmunk Kingdom and years before I was even aware of the furry fandom's existence. Heck, at the time the original drawings were made 25-30 years ago, the furry fandom was just some gatherings and panels that the Sci-Fi fandom begrudgingly allowed to be held their cons.
So in the back ground are the oldest drawings of each of the characters I have done and could find comparing them to their modern retakes in the foreground.
Starting things off, we have Jerry Lee my previous chipmunk fursona as the starring hero. He's the one in the black t-shirt. Brash and impulsive and never back down from a challenge he is the main character of the stories and adventures I had him in.
The adorable pink chippy is Lewisa, Jerry's sweetheart. She is kind, gentle yet spirited and very intelligent able to get Jerry to look before leaping. She counter balances his brashness.
Then in the trench coat is Chris Bomber. When I created this character, I modeled him after a high school friend of mine. He is the tech wiz and brains of the operation using his intelligence and his hacking skills to help his three friends in their many adventures.
Last but not certainly least is Norman Lee who would eventually become Tamias the Chipmunk in later years. But here in the distant past, he is cast as Jerry 's younger brother. He is gentle and sweet natured but as indicated by his biker gear their is a cheekiness about him.
Interesting thing about Norman Lee as seen in this drawing, this is actually a brand new iteration of Tamias/Norman Lee I created specifically for this drawing. The reason why is back when I created Norman, I drew him in the looney toons style rather than the Chip n Dale-esque form factor of the other characters. I don't know why I did Norm differently since he is Jerry's brother and thus should look similar to him rather than completely different. So the new iteration of this character as you see here fixes that issue and matches him up perfectly with the others.
Oh Wow!! It felt so good drawing my characters in this ancient style of years gone by. To see them as how they were but done under my current level of art skills has pretty much nailed them exactly as how I envisioned them so long ago. I am really happy right now.
30 years, folks. 30 years.
