Nah, as the previous comic pages showed, they were with a crew of people digging, only shen was one of the few to keep digging while everyone else was losing hope, it's likely the rest of those are off to the side at that point having been ready to go home.

Yes. The water source may be under considerable pressure... Up to but not more than the integrity of the weakest part of its container. Shen's blow broke the rock in one part, reducing its strength below the pressure and causing the water to break loose. But the process of breaking it loose causes the rock in that part to break apart more, widening the hole and letting more of the pressurized water to escape. This may also involve loose weight on the water elsewhere that had been held up because of the incompressibility of water to push the water down elsewhere and up here now that nothing is holding it back. And once it gets going the water going up pulls more water into the vacuum behind it, creating a syphon effect.
Eventually gravity will counter the immediate burst and it will stabilize at some water level, effectively creating a well. Maybe. I don't know enough geyser dynamics to know why you get the periodic ones in some places.

Think of it as a underground straw of water that is being heated at the bottom the water on top holds heated water down until it basically boils flash boiling the entire column sending a rush of water and steam out of the geyser vent after this release the ground water seeps back into the geyser to repeat the process

All the BS comments aside, I am so glad that you let Shen find the prophetic reason for his existence. There is far more to this story than what most think, say or joke about. For those of us who have been waiting for their chance to to be Shen, I applaud you.
