This machine is featured in the story this link is to;
This is posted to give a perspective as to the actual size the time machine is that Clarence Coyote went to 1960 in.
From other pics that have been posted of this machine, it tends to look bigger than it really is.
From earlier pics, it's probably likely for most folks to presume the machine is about the size of an average camper or a short school bus. The machine isn't really all that big, being 14 feet in diameter not counting the landing pods...It's more like the size of jeeps and mini vans.
I've also included a top view...In the pics that have only existed so far, it would be easy to presume the machine was football shaped. The machine is disk shaped much like an M&M without the peanuts, but not as flat of a profile.
When the characters in the story entered the machine, there isn't enough ceiling height to stand straight upright...You'd have to walk hunched over like you would walking around in a mini van or a full size SUV.
The earliest the destination time can be set for is just 1/10,000th of a second shy of 100 million years BC (99,999,999 BC, 1st month, 1st day, Midnight and 00.0000 seconds). That's midway through the Cretaceous era, which was the last major age of dinosaurs before mammals really began to become advanced...which took place in 66 million BC. ...Being that BC gave way to AD more than 2,000 years ago, that makes the machine's travel capability slighter greater going to the past than it is going to the future.
On the other paw, that far into the future is so unknown, it would be a crapshoot at best for someone making such a journey.
I've added a 3rd page showing what the destination time readings would look like with the machine set to it's maximum limit...Because the BC years run in reverse while the months, days and time of day run forward, it does get confusing, and took me several tries to get the numbers right...I had to even make a correction on it the day after.
