Chapter Fourteen

Iuana and Achak both hold their hands over their ears, though Iuana had managed to move the two of them out of the thick of the commotion before the noise had come into effect, the sound was so harsh that it was crippling them at even this location.

Iuana cries out unable to stand this noise. “What’s going on!?”

Achak shakes his head, he just as confused as her right now. “I don’t know...” he looks out in the direction he knew the battle grounds to be in, they so far they were unable to see anything from it. “But if this sound is troubling our warriors as much as it is troubling us then they are in grave danger.”

*******

Shiya stumbles to his knees while holding his hands over his head, it feeling like his mind was going to explode from this high pitched noise. There one thing he just didn’t understand about all of this. “Why are they here?”

He looks up towards the True Bloods, they moving quickly as they gather up the wilds into the empty trucks they had brought with them, closing the doors to the backs of the truck and locking them once they are full, the camouflage program built into the vehicle being activated and causing the truck to disappear from sight.

Shiya stares at the scene, he unable to help but recall the dream that Yula had told him about.

Yula shakes his head, everything so confusing. “There is a bright flash of light, and then there’s more fighting, not like before though... like a real battle. Then the warriors all start to disappear, Kitchi, Hasson, Teddy, even wilds without the mark of Raven Wolf, one by one they just vanish.”

Shiya seems confused. “Vanish...?”

Yula nods his head yes. “Yeah... just vanished and were gone... not hurt, not killed, not anything... they just disappear... until everyone is gone.”

Shiya is just as perplexed as Yula is over this vision. “How strange...” He places his hand on his chin as he tries to think it over. Clearly something was going to happen at Iuana’s trials, but what the vanishing might signify he didn’t understand. “They just... disappear?”

“Yeah... everyone just disappears.”

Shiya tries to wrap his mind around this, though it was clear now what was happening the reason as to why it was happening was still unknown to him. “Why are the True Blood’s capturing wilds? Why would they need them for?”

Shiya knows that he could not let this continue, in Yula’s dream everyone had been taken by them, that had been the dreams warning. Somehow Shiya had to find a way to stop that from happening. He looks back to the super solider that was stepping over the crippled wilds as he approaches him, knowing that while doing that he also had to try and keep from being caught by the super soldiers of the Domestic Military, he not so easily going to be able to do that if he intended to help his people and the other wilds that had gathered here, if only the sound were gone, then things would be so much easier.

He turns away from the large tiger that approaches him continuing to make his way toward the vehicles that were taking his companions, Shiya moving slowly as he stumbles about, the sound capable of bringing him to his knees.

“That’s far enough.”

Zack and Dolly’s running comes to a stop when a team of soldiers block their path, Zack frowning at them as he takes his weapon from his side preparing to attack, Dolly doing the same, though she did not know who or even what these people were she wasn’t going to let herself get caught by them.

The True Bloods begin to speak to him, hoping that the two Domestics would not make things difficult. “We don’t want to have to hurt you, come quietly and you’ll be just fine.”

Zack leaps forward to attack, the soldiers firing at him to slow him down, unable to hit him once as his body movies to keep him from the bullet’s paths, one of the soldiers commenting on this. “He really is one of our super soldiers.”

Dolly catches onto this comment, that clearly meaning that these strangers were the military group responsible for making Zack and the others, she now remembering where she had seen that symbol on their uniform before, it having been all over the computer files that she had been given by that hacker that had come seeking her help.

Dolly screams as she is hit in the arm with a bullet, the pain reminding her that she needed to keep her mind off of such things and on what was happening right now, she taking the handgun and returning the favour, shooting the soldier in the arm and causing him to drop his weapon.

The true blood soldiers begin to question one another while fighting both Dolly and Zack “How are these two able to move? The sound should be paralyzing them like it is everyone else.”

One of the men motions toward the headset they could see Zack wearing. “His radio must be playing a frequency to cancels it out.” He looks back to Dolly. “The female must have one hidden on her as well.” He looks back to the soldiers. “Get rid of the radios and we’ll have them!”

*******

One of the True Blood soldiers calls out to a group of others near him. “We’ve got two more over here!”

Kitchi stares up at the soldiers that had appeared before him, one of them reaching toward him and grabbing onto his arm, forcefully pulling him to his feet and along with him, he speaking to Kitchi when the wolf struggles to pull away from him. “It’s alright as long as you don’t put up a fight we’re not going to hurt you.”

Another reaches toward Maigan to take him as well, Maigan reacting before they are able to and attacking despite the sound, driving the soldier back from him. The soldiers all beginning to back away from him raising their weapons toward him to keep him back as the leader of their group gives them orders. “Keep your distance men, looks like this one has some fight in him.”

The man that had spoken up looks back to several soldiers near their group. “We have a wild with some fight over here, get me a sleeper.”

One of the soldiers wearing a slightly different uniform from the others responds to the call, he approaching them and looking Maigan over. “He’s a big one isn’t he?” He begins to go through his tools, he not equipped with weapons like the other soldiers were, he instead carrying tranquilizers to aid against the more difficult wilds that his comrades might run into on this mission, the solders often referring to him as a sleeper. “His dose is going to be pretty heavy, I hope you all can carry him.”

“Don’t worry about it, just make it so he won’t attack us.”

Though this soldier look just as strange as the other figures that had descended upon the wilds, he was at the same time different from them, he having the same pointed and furred ears as well as a bushy wolfs like tail as the Wild’s and Domestics did.

He finishes preparing a dart, loading it into a small gun and aiming it at Maigan, pulling the trigger and firing, the dart hitting him in the side and injecting the tranquilizer into the large Wild’s body, Maigan letting out an angered growl as he moves to attack him, the solders all pushing the soldier that had shot him with the tranquilizer back as they move to defend him, Maigan able to remain standing for only a few moments before his body grows weak and tired on him and he falls to the ground.

Another group of soldiers lets out a call to the soldier with the tranquilizers. “We need a sleeper over here!”

The strange looking man that didn’t look to fit in with any of the groups of people here turns away from Maigan as the soldiers, his attention now on the next soldier that had called for his rank and begin to try to move him this now his next order of business. “I’m on my way.”

Kitchi yells over to him before he leaves. “What do you want with us!?”

Kitchi gets no response from the sleeper or the soldiers as they continue to move him along.

Dolly swings her combat knife at a soldier that is attacking her, she managing to slice into his side and bring him down, but not without him grabbing onto the hairpiece that the radio was hidden it, pulling it off of her ear.

Dolly lets out a scream as she immediately drops her weapon to hold her hands over her ears, Zack stopping his attack as he looks back to her upon hearing her scream to see what had happened, one of the soldiers he had been fighting realizing that he had become distracted, taking this moment to leap forward, grabbing into the radio he had on his right ear and pulling it off of him, Zack too letting out a painful scream as he stops his fighting, holding his hands over his ears to try and stop the sound.

The soldiers react quickly as they move in to subdue the both of them, one of the soldiers taking Zack’s hand off of his right ear and holding it back, looking for and finding the tattoo marking that had been put on the inside of his ear. “1342-026’ yeah, this one is defiantly one of them. Dedicate one of the trucks to transporting him, keep him spate from the others.”

He moves from Zack making his way to Dolly, lifting her right hand from her ear and doing the same, he finding no marking on her. “The female isn’t a super soldier, just throw her in with the rest of the wilds then.”

*******

Tahki and Eleven continue to make their way forward despite the noise that was right now ringing in their ears. They trying to keep out of sight as the True Blood soldiers move around them collecting the wilds and fathering them up inside of the trucks they had brought with, it hard for them and the wilds to avoid when there was almost nothing for them to hide behind.

Tahki frowns as she looks toward the device causing the sound, it guarded by several soldiers, she looks next to Eleven giving her orders. “I’ll handle the guards, you take care of that machine.”

Eleven is still holding her hands over her ears. “You’re wounded, that should be my job.”

Tahki shakes her head, there no way that would work when Eleven could hardly move from that sound, though Tahki wasn’t in a much better situation she was still more capable than Eleven at the moment. “Those are your orders.”

She rushes forward attacking the men guarding the device, not wasting any time nor allowing Eleven to argue about it, the soldiers rather surprised to have someone capable of attacking them right now, they beginning to call out on their radios while dealing with her. “Get a sleeper over here right now!!”

Eleven looks back to the soldiers she recognizing that title. “A sleeper...?” She knew that neither Tahki nor she would stand a chance once one of those soldiers got here. She had to act quickly or else things would turn out very bad for them.

She does her best to ignore the sound that felt like it was stabbing into her brain and paralyzing her body, she getting up from where she is hiding when the soldiers as focused on Tahki and rushing forward, letting out a cry as she runs past them toward the machine, readying her weapon to strike.

One of the soldier’s noticing her advance, he quickly stepping in her path and attacking her, effectively stopping her from reaching the device, Eleven having a hard time standing against him with the noise that was playing.

One of the soldiers comments on the advance the two are making. “These two know that this machine is causing the noise, how is that possible?”

*******

By now most all the wilds have been gathered by the surrounding forces, they all being sorted into trucks that intended to take them away, the True Bloods executing this operation as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Kane reaches Shiya, he now at a close enough distance to use the smaller tranquilizer gun that he had, he aiming it and intending to fire to keep him from running.

Alistair runs up next to Kane, a worried tone in his voice as he begins to explain the situation to his partner. “The True Bloods are everywhere! We’re not going to be able to get past them to get out of here! Even if Chase tries to clear a path for us there’s just too many of them.”

Kane stops what he is doing as he looks back to Alistair, Shiya not going anywhere right now in the condition that he was in. “You’re saying that we’re going to need a weapon much stronger than what we have on us to get out of this?”

Alistair nods his head. “Of course we do! There’s too many of them and they’re all coordinated in their attacks, we’re out numbered and too far spread to even have a hope of defeating them. They already got Magellan and he’s one of the best! It’s only a matter of time before the rest of us go down too!”

Kane walks back to Alistair reaching toward his ear and grabbing the radio that was on him, pulling it off of his head, Alistair screaming as he covers his ears in pain as he tries to keep the sound out. “What are you doing!?”

Kane looks down at him for a moment. “Relax will you, I’m just getting us out of this mess. You’ll thank me later.”

“I’m not going to thank you for this!! I’m going to kill you for this!!”

Kane turns away from Alistair, he walking up to Shiya who was still hopelessly struggling to get to the trucks. Kane kneeling down next to him and grabbing onto the skull headdress he wore to hide his face, taking it off of him and throwing it to the side, he yelling back to Alistair as he did this. “The only way we’re going to get out of this is if we have a stronger weapon.”

He lifts Shiya up forcing him to look toward the True Bloods that were right now gathering the wilds and taking them all away. “You want what to know what they’re doing and why this is happening right?”

Shiya glances back to Kane as the tiger begins to explain, the super soldier knowing more about the true blood presence here than he did. “They’re collecting test subjects. From what I can tell they’re taking everyone here because one of their experiments calls for strong wilds, probably ones with a warriors blood line. That’s why they attack a gathering that consists of nothing but warriors.”

Shiya looks back toward the True Bloods, when explained like that he could defiantly see what Kane was talking about. “How do you know this?”

Kane forces Shiya’s hand off of his right ear. “You can see it for yourself can’t you? And even if I’m not right the fact of the matter is they are still collecting and taking your people away.” He takes the radio that he had taken from Alistair, fitting it on Shiya’s ear. “You want to go save them don’t you? So go play your part as a weapon and destroy the enemy before everyone you know disappears.”

The painful expression leaves Shiya’s face as the sound that had been hurting him suddenly disappears, his body relaxing now that the sound was finally gone. Shiya standing in bewilderment for only a moment before remembering the situation, he quickly turning back to Kane and lifting his hand toward him, the air between them rippling as a cold blast of air forms between them, hitting and throwing Kane back from him, Shiya then looking back to the trucks that the wilds were being gathered into running towards them.

The True Bloods all gasp in surprise when they see one of the wilds move through them so quickly. They not having time to react or call for back up as a cold wind hits them causing them to go flying back through the air.

Shiya soon reaching the trucks, standing firm as he moves his hand over the ground, ice forming and covering the grass below him, he then moving his arm forward as the ice raises into large shards that hit the vehicles and throw them on their sides, the ice covering them and locking them in place so that they cannot be moved from where they have fallen. Shiya running up to the trucks one by one, swinging his hand and causing the ice to hit the locks that kept the doors of the vehicles shut, freeing the wilds that had been caught inside.

Kane grins as he watches the havoc that Shiya is causing the True Bloods. “Will you look at him go. The military reports were not exaggerating when depicting the amount of trouble they had while catching him.”

Alistair is hardly in the mood to talk, the sound still piercing his mind. “You’re going to regret doing this to me I swear!!”

*******

The soldiers that are right now dealing with Tahki and Eleven stop what they are doing when they see what is happening to the vehicles, they panic stricken by the strange attacks that were being used against them. “What’s going on?

“That’s not normal!”

“How is a wild able to do something like that!?”

Eleven takes this opportunity to react, attacking the soldier that stood in her way and bringing him down, running past him and now targeting the machine thrusting the spear she held into it, forcing the weapon right through it, Eleven pushing against the weapon and forcing the large object it was lodged into to fall over hitting the ground, the sound that bothered them so much stopping with the machine’s distraction.

Tahki gives a sigh of relief. “Finally.” She attacks her opponents no longer handicapped by that awful noise, her enemy not able to even keep up with her movements, she looking back to Eleven once she is finished with them. “Come on, we have to get everyone out of the trucks.”

Eleven nods her head, the two of them quickly moving toward the trucks to start their rescue operation.

Zephyr watches as the wilds that had managed to keep from getting captured or get free from the trucks begin to get to their feet, this clearly telling him that that the sound that had before been bothering them had come to a stop even though he could not hear it himself to confirm. “Well this wasn’t supposed to happen.”

He looks over to the trucks that were being destroyed by the ice allowing their captives to escape as well. “This wasn’t supposed to happen either... who would have thought that a Source would be in this area?”

One of his men speaks up, questioning him on the situation. “Should I give the order to have the Source captured?”

Zephyr shakes his head no. “We don’t have the resources to do that right now, it’ll just be a losing battle, for now we’ll make a note that he is here, we’ll have to come back for him when we’re more prepared to deal with him.”

Zephyr looks over to his men the situation not going at all in their favour. “The mission has been compromised, have everyone fall back and try to save as many of the trucks as they can.”

“Yes Sir!”

*******

Kitchi is shaking Maigan trying to wake him up, the two of them stuck in the back of a reinforced steel truck, they having to somehow find a way out now that the awful sound had come to a stop.  He stops for a moment when he hears some commotion from outside of the truck he is in. It sounding like there was a fight happening outside.

There is a slam as something hits the back door of the truck, the lock breaking and the doors opening, Eleven forcing the doors opening and motioning for everyone inside the back of the truck to get out. “Warriors that are able to fight make take arms immediately! Those that are not should make their way to the safe point rendezvous.”

Kitchi looks over to her happy to see her. “Eleven!! You’re alright!”

Eleven looks to Kitchi recognizing his voice. “Kitchi!” She looks from him and back to his now very drowsy brother. “What happened to your brother?”

Kitchi pulls Maigan along with him as he makes his way out of the truck. “He tried to attack despite the sound, they did something to him to make him fall asleep like this. He can’t fight like this I need to take him to the rendezvous point.”

Maigan lets out a growl as he pushes Kitchi away from him and clumsily stumbles to his feet. “Don’t worry about me I can handle myself, you help Eleven rescue the others.”

Kitchi seems reluctant to leave him like this right now.  “But-”

Eleven looks from Kitchi and Maigan as one of the trucks near them starts to move and drive away, its camouflage activating and hiding it from their sight. “Save your banter for later! We have to rescue everyone else before any more of the trucks get away!”

Kitchi and Eleven take off as quickly as they can, heading toward the next vehicle near them to try and help the wilds that were trapped inside.

*******

Dolly raises her head looking up at her surroundings, the sound that had been torturing her having come to a stop.

She was right now inside the back of a truck, everything so dark it was almost pitch black, several wilds were also crammed in the vehicle with her, each one looking just as perplexed as she did. Dolly gets to her feet pushing through them as she begins franticly searching for a way out, though she had no clue as to what was possibly going on she could at least tell that her situation was bad and was not one she wanted to be in.

Dolly searches every corner of the truck she is in, unable to find anything that might promise a way of escape, the soldier at a loss of what to do, not only was this a scenario they had not prepared for but it was one none of them could have even imagined happening. She lowers her head in defeat, not knowing what was going to happening to her or the other wilds she was with next.

She lets out a surprised scream when the truck she is in violently lurches, rolling onto its side and throwing everyone within it over, Dolly hitting her head hard against the side of the truck and becoming dazed, the wilds just as confuse and panicked as she was right now over this sudden event, the back of the truck growing cold and making them even more concerned.

The twisting of metal could be heard, this soon followed by a sliver of light that quickly grew, the back doors to the truck being forced apart.

The wilds that had been thrown into the back of the truck quickly begin to leave as soon as the opening had presented itself. Dolly though laying still, too dizzy to get up right now from the blow she had taken to the head.

A hand grabs onto her wrist, forcefully pulling her to her feet and out of the truck, a voice questioning her as he tried to help her to escape. “Are you alright?”

Dolly looks up at the white wolf that had helped her, a look of recognition filling her face as she stares at him, she having seen his face before. Dolly knowing that she had met him in the small town they had passed through when perusing her brother and the wilds that had taken him, she even remembering the name that he had given her. “Snow...”

Shiya stares back at her for a moment, he having not recognized her from her looks, she having to speak before he had realized that it was her. “Dolly Conner...?”

Dolly looks him over, recognizing the tribal clothing he had on to be what the chieftain of Raven Wolf had been wearing. “You... you’re Raven Wolf’s leader...?”

A sharp pain suddenly hits the back of Shiya’s neck before he could respond to her, Shiya yelping as he takes his free hand reaching back and pulling out what had hit him, bringing it in his eye sight and looking it over, it a tranquilizer dart, Shiya looking back to find Kane standing behind him with the small gun that had fired it in hand.

Shiya slouches forward his body becoming weak, he no longer able to stay awake.

Kane looks away from Shiya toward the true bloods, they practically gone already have run with what they could manage after Shiya had started attacking them, he and his companions no longer going to run into such severe problems when it came to escaping. “Looks like my plan worked.”

Alistair storms past Kane, an annoyed tone in his voice as he approaches Shiya taking the radio that had been placed on him off of his sleeping figure and fitting it back on his ear. “Next time you decide to do a plan like that use your own radio!!”

Kane picks Shiya up to take with him. “Don’t complain, it got rid of the True Bloods didn’t it?”

Alistair grumbles to himself, still not pleased over it. He not getting the chance to say anything in response as he quickly turns around, pulling the combat knife from his side and raising it to stop Tahki’s attack, she having tried to attack him by surprise when he was distracted.

Alistair grins at her when he realizes that it was one of the super soldiers that had attacked him while occupied with Kane, he more than happy to finish his own task in the assignment. “In a hurry to finish what we started then? I have to admit that I’m looking forward to it too!”

Tahki yells at the three soldiers before her, she having come here upon noticing that they had managed to subdue Shiya. “Let him go!”

Alistair glances back to Shiya, Tahki clearly referring to him, he shakes his head as he turns his attention back to Tahki. “Shorty is our reason for being here, so no, we’re not letting him go.”

Tahki lets out a cry as she begins to relentlessly attack Alistair, there no way she was going to just allow them to do such a thing, Alistair reacting quickly to avoid being hit by the many finishing blows she was throwing at him, he fighting back against her for only a few moments before Tahki abruptly stops her attack, jumping back from Alistair as a bullet flies past where she had been standing and hitting the ground.

Tahki glances back at the ground where the bullet had hit, the angle the large bullet had been in indicating that the shot had been fired from an altitude higher then where she was, this meaning one thing. “A sniper...”

Chase’s disappointed voice plays over the radio. “I missed?”

Vaan’s voice plays over the radio soon after Chase’s. “Don’t sound so shocked, she’s a super soldier if you’ve forgotten.”

Kane walks past Alistair dropping Shiya in his arms and approaching Tahki, Tahki not getting a chance to react to his advance as he grabs onto her neck holding her in place, he taking the tranquilizer gun he had on him and holding it right against her body as he fires it, she unable to dodge it when the gun was already touching her skin.

Alistair is annoyed to have been interrupted in his fight. “What are you doing!? I was the one that was supposed to deal with her!”

Kane picks up Tahki once she falls unconscious. “General Mort requested that we try to bring one back alive, I saw the opportunity and took it. It’s nothing against you.”

“Stop taking all the glory!”

Vaan’s voice speaks up through the radio. “Now’s not the time for this, you guys are still outnumbered, the wilds are shaken up by everything that just happened but it’s not going to be long before they compose themselves and become a threat. You have to get out of there now before that happens.”

Dolly doesn’t seem ready to leave just yet. “What about Magellan?”

Chase’s voice responds to Dolly’s question. “Sorry Conner... I’ve been looking for him but can’t find him or even anything belonging to the True Bloods anywhere. He’s gone.”

Dolly looks around her, what Chase had said correct, there absolutely no sign of the third party that had attacked them. “Zack...”

Kane tries to rush both Dolly and Alistair along. “Let’s go.”

*******

A little more than an hour has passed since the attack on Iuana’s trials, the last of the wilds having cleared up from the area, everyone going into hiding and traveling back to their villages should the strange attackers choose to come back.

Eleven arrives at the rendezvous point the members of Raven Wolf were supposed to meet at should anything happen at the trials, she being the last of her tribe to arrive having stayed behind to make sure that everyone had made it.

Hasson looks over to her, Eleven not supposed to return until she was sure that everyone else from Raven Wolf had already made it out of the area the trials had taken place it. “There’s no one else left?”

Eleven shakes her head no. “No...”

Achak, who is right now treating a wound that Hasson had received during the battles stops his work, he looking back to Eleven once he hears this. There still several members of their tribe that were unaccounted for.

Maigan looks their group over, he also noticing what it was that Achak and possibly everyone else had. “That can’t be right, some of us are still missing!”

Kitchi speaks up as she looks over to his brother, the two of them having luckily been rescued by Eleven after being placed in those trucks, the ones that were missing probably not as lucky as them. “They must have been in those trucks that just vanished.”

The other warriors also begin to ask questions. “What about the chieftain where is he? Was he taken by them as well?”

“And Tahki?”

Eleven looks the group over, she explaining that their concerns were well founded, she having made sure to not over look anything for their missing members. “There were no bodies on the battle grounds, and I was the last of everyone to leave the location. If they’re not here then they must be with the people that attacked us.”

Achak lowers his head at the thought that both Shiya, his closest friend, and Tahki his wife had both gone missing during this ordeal. He shakes his head, no one, not even Shiya had seen something like this coming. “Shiya was prepared for the worst that the Domestics had to offer... no one ever considered that another danger would have chosen to be become involved.”

Iuana approaches Eleven, she now questioning her in a worried tone of voice. Though she too was concerned for her father and the other missing members, the absence of one warrior in particular was also concerning her. “Teddy... where is he?”

Eleven looks from her and out toward her fellow tribe members, Teddy not among them, Eleven having not fathomed that he would have been one of the people to go missing during this. “If he’s not here then he’s been taken... and there’s nothing that we can do to get him back.”

Iuana is not happy to hear this at all. “What do you mean there’s nothing that we can do!?”

Eleven argues back with her. “Our enemy disappeared into thin air! Just completely vanished leaving no trail for us to follow! We have no idea where they have been taken so what can we do about it?”

Iuana argues back with her. “There has to be something!”

“As much as I would like for there to be there isn’t!”

Kitchi quickly steps in-between the two of them trying to calm to two girls down. “That’s enough, I know this is frustrating but you two have to pull yourselves together.” He looks to Eleven beginning to explain. “With Tahki gone that means that you have to take her place as Raven Wolf’s lead warrior.” He looks to Iuana. “And with the Chieftain gone that means you’re the one that now leads us Iuana.”

Iuana and Eleven both fall silent at the reminder, though both fully understood their rolls and knew that this moment would come it was still not something that either of them felt they were ready for at the moment.

Achak finishes tending to Hasson before speaking up and making his way over to Eleven and Iuana. “Kitchi is of course right, and with you two in those rolls that means that you must cooperate with one another, and if you do not agree on something you must resolve it without arguing. It is true Iuana that Eleven need only answer to and must answer to you, but you cannot ignore her opinions and concerns when it comes to battle and the enemy.”

Iuana looks back to Eleven, Achak was right, it wasn’t as if Eleven was saying there was nothing that could be done because she was lazy, it was because at this point there really was nothing that could be done. “I’m sorry... I just... I just...” She sniffs back the tears that were starting to form, she already a poor example of what a leader should be.

Kitchi places a hand on Iuana’s shoulder. “Come on Iuana you’re stronger than this, we’ll figure this all out.”

*******

Dolly sits in the back of helicopter with the rest of the super soldiers and the two captives they had managed to get during their mission. Though she had been silent for most of the trip back to their base in the city she could no longer contain her questions, she looking over the group and asking them about what had happened. “That group that attacked us was clearly an armed military, you guys called them True Bloods didn’t you? So who are the True Bloods and why were they attacking us?”

Kane looks over to Dolly his arms crossed as he sits in wait for the helicopter ride to finish. “They weren’t after us, they were after the wilds. We just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Dolly looks over to Vaan, he the one that held the most information of the group. “Who are they!?”

Vaan looks over to her. “An enemy military organization that we’ve encountered before.”

Alistair laughs at the explanation. “I guess that’s one way of putting it.”

Dolly continues to present the super soldiers with questions. “Well what do we have to do to get Magellan back from them?”

The super soldiers all look to one another, Alistair letting out a smirk at the idea. “Get him back?” He looks back to Dolly there no way that any of them would be doing something like that. “We’re not getting him back.”

Dolly frowns not seeing the reason as to why not, Zack was an important comrade of all of theirs. “Why!? They took him in alive! That means that he’s still alright for now, if we want to get him back we have to act fast.”

Alistair frowns. “You don’t get it do you? The True Bloods have him, there’s no getting him back.”

Tahki slowly opens her eyes as she weakly begins to look at her surroundings, she looking out to the soldiers that were right now in an argument with one another over something. She doesn’t move or make a sound as to try and not catch their attention, she now beginning to quietly free herself from the bounds she had been placed in.

Chase lets out a yawn, whatever it was the military gave him to keep him awake for missions already wearing off. “I’m going to miss Magellan... he was the nicest out of all you guys... I wish we could get him back.” He lets out a sigh. “General Mort isn’t going to be happy either... Magellan was his favourite out of all of us.”

Alistair looks Dolly and Chase over. “Yeah well General Mort should suck it up and just be happy we managed to complete this stupid mission for him this time.”

Kane looks over to him this not over yet. “Our mission ends once we arrive at military headquarters and our targets are in custody.”

Chase looks back to him. “Yeah... but we’re already over the city, we’re practically done the mission.”

Dolly looks away from them, it pretty clear that all of them were against trying to get Zack back from the people that had attacked them, the reason for why that was not particularly clear to her, though she had a hunch that it was because they were all too afraid to.

Vaan makes his way over to the driver of the helicopter they were in. “How much longer until we’re at headquarters?”

“About ten minutes.”

Kane lets out a cry of surprise as his body if thrown and he hits the side of the helicopter causing it to dangerously sway, everyone looking back to him to see that Tahki had managed to free herself and use the opportunity to attack him.

Vaan nervously tries to distance himself from the fighting while the others try to get her back under control.

Chase tries to hold her arm down, Tahki swinging back at him and hitting him hard in the face to drive him back, Chase holding onto his sore jaw while questioning the situation. “Why is she awake!?”

Kane throws Tahki off of him, Tahki grabbing onto the gun on his belt and taking it before hitting the ground, Kane watching as she quickly gets back to her feet aiming the weapon at him.

Kane stares at her as he thinks the question Chase has asked him over, there one very apparent feature of hers that stood out. “The dosage in the tranquilizer was made to handle the leader of Raven Wolf’s small size, it must not have been enough because she is bigger than him.”

Dolly stares at the woman that right now desperately fought against them, she recognizing her features from the file on the super soldiers that she had gotten from the hacker, there no doubt that she was one of them.

Alistair looks over to Kane annoyed. “I told you we wouldn’t be able to capture one.” He raises his own weapon aiming it at her. “Best to get rid of her before she takes one of us with her.”

Tahki turns back to Alistair attacking him before he could fire his weapon, throwing him to the floor of the helicopter and disarming him of both his gun and combat knife, she then making her way to Shiya, breaking him free of the binds that kept him in place and wrapping her left arm around him pulling him with her, she raising the gun with her right hand and firing at the soldiers when they got too close to her.

Dolly quickly speaks up, they could not keep doing this in their current environment. “Stop this! If you keep this up the helicopter is going to crash and kill us all!”

Tahki backs away from the soldiers, her back hitting the door of the helicopter, there really no where for her to go, Tahki though still refusing to give up. “If any of you come near me I’ll open fire!”

Alistair laughs at the threat. “You’re a super solider aren’t you? So you should know that you’re not able to shoot us.”

Tahki nods her head well aware of that, she also aware of another fact. “The driver of the helicopter is not a super solider, he’s not going to be as easy to miss as the rest of you.”

Vaan quickly begins to try to talk some sense into Tahki. “You can’t do that! If you take him out we’re all going to die!”

Tahki doesn’t look back to Vaan as she keeps her eyes glued to the soldiers that would be a threat to her. “Better to be dead then have Shiya fall into military hands! Do you know what would happen to everyone if that were to happen!?”

Dolly stares at Tahki, what she had said making something very clear. This woman knew the reason why the military was after Shiya.

Tahki turns from the soldiers, grabbing onto the door of the helicopter unlocking and opening it, the soldiers panicking as they quickly move to try and stop her from doing something this crazy, Tahki wrapping her arm tightly around Shiya’s still figure and leaping out of the side of the airborne helicopter.

Dolly quickly looks over the side, their figures quickly disappearing from sight as they approach the ground. “They’ll never live through that!”

Kane looks from their fading figures and back to the driver. “Land this immediately! We need to get them back!”

Raven Wolf - 03 - The Warriors - Chapter 13
Raven Wolf - 03 - The Warriors - Chapter 15
Book 3 in the Raven Wolf series.

Due to human negligence the world as we know it has ended and been reborn. The animal spirits that guide man giving them the forms of animals so that they would be able to survive in this new wilderness. Though now carrying the form of beasts man has not forgotten the place they once had, as an existence greater then just what nature wanted of them, an existence above all.

Those that worked to gain their humanity are known as domestics, while those who wished to follow the rolls the spirits had given them were known as wilds. Both groups grew arrogant and hateful of one another, the wilds saw the domestics as selfish monsters, for they were returning to the ways that had once destroyed the world, while the domestics saw the wilds as primitive beings afraid of progress, they no better than wild animals.

The raven and the wolf spirits grew tired of the destruction and fighting, and sided with the wilds in their ideals, the domestics only capable of further destroying nature. In their anger they marked a tribe of wilds with a curse, they being removed from the sacred circle of life, unable to hunt or grow their own food, their souls never able to move on while their bodies are unable to return to the earth when they died. The curse upon them only broken once the domestics are gone once and for all. The cursed tribe now known to all by the name of the spirits whom cursed them. ‘Raven Wolf'
