Chapter Thirteen

A loud bang fills the air, startling everyone in the area, Teddy and Shiya both turning toward the noise to find a wolf with black fur standing with her right arm in the air, a small flare gun gripped tightly in her hands, the two quickly looking from the small military issued gun and toward the air where the bright light of a flare was quickly rising into the sky.

Teddy stares at the figure she hard to see from this distance, though the colour of her coat threw him off he knew that there had been only one other wild in the domestic military aside from him, Teddy knowing that it had to be Dolly even though he couldn’t confidently verify it right now. “Dolly?”

Shiya quickly looks back to his warriors calling out to them. “Eleven take Iuana and Achak to safety, Hasson take command of the warriors, Tahki to my side immediately!”

Hasson reacts immediately following the orders that Shiya had called out to him, he yelling down to his two sons that were right now among the warriors. “Maigan, Kitchi deal with the woman that sent out the signal.”

Maigan and Kitchi both nod their heads as they draw their weapons and begin heading toward Dolly to attack her, Hasson then looking back to and giving his orders to the rest of the warriors after he sees that they had started on their task. “Everyone to your posts! Don’t let them gain the upper hand!”

The warriors all begins to scatter as they head to their position, all of them having been ready and even anticipating for the domestic military to intervene with this.

Achak worriedly looks around him, he frozen on spot as everyone around him acts quickly for the battle they saw to be coming, this clearly not a good sign. “So then the military really is making its move...”

He gulps as he lowers his body to the ground, unable to budge from his spot, this almost exactly how he had been told his father had been killed, the military having ambushed their tribe, and Achak’s father having not known how to fight at all, had been swiftly killed in the attack.

“Achak!” Achak looks back to the one that had called his voice, spotting Eleven reaching over the ledge that Shiya and the other top warriors had been watching the trials from, she offering her hand for him to take so that she could pull him up to where she was. “Hurry before they attack!”

Achak doesn’t move from his spot his body frozen in fear, Eleven calling out to him again, it going to end badly if Achak didn’t move. “Get a hold of yourself! You have to leave now!”

Tahki runs past Eleven as she leaps off the ledge she is on, landing on the ground and running to Achak, kneeling down next to his frightened figure and trying to pull him to his feet before making her way to Shiya. “Come on Achak move!”

Iuana stares down at Tahki as she tries to pull Achak to his feet, she looking from them and up toward the sky where the light of the flare had gone, three figures now rapidly falling through the air as they descended towards them.

*******

Teddy tightens his grip around his weapon as he watches the three figures approach, their parachutes opening and abruptly slowly their decent, he looks from them and back to Shiya, the largest of the three figures headed toward him.

Kane speaks in his radio as he got closer, giving one last order before entering combat. “Remember, no mistakes.” He cuts the line to his parachute when he feels he is close enough to the ground, speeding up his decent, Shiya jumping back from where he stood when the large soldier lands near him.

Kane waste no time as he lunges forward grabbing onto Shiya’s arm and stopping him from distancing himself further, a rather amused look on his face as he looks the small chieftain over. “I was told your statute was small but I didn’t think it was this small.”

Shiya swings his free arm forward, the air between them rippling as a cold blast of air builds up hitting Kane, forcing him back from Shiya, Kane planting his feet on the ground to keep from being forced to fly through the air, he managing to keep his ground rather well compared to others who had faced this skill.

*******

Tahki looks up from Achak who is still trembling on the ground and out toward Shiya, a concerned look on her face when she realizes that he is getting attacked. “Shiya!” She is about to run forward to help him but is stopped when another military soldier lands in front of her, standing in the way of her path.

Alistair lets out a wide grin as he stares down at her. “Long time no see Forty Nine of batch number twelve seventeen.”

Tahki stares at the coyote that had landed before her, she recognizing his face and tone of voice, she not even having to double check the tattoo she knew to be in his ear, he from super soldier batch number twelve eighty six, she even knowing his specific number having encountered him before when still at the institute. “Two...”

Eleven runs up to Tahki, a tone of concern in her voice, she also having recognized the super soldier that once went by the name of Two. “Tahki!” She draws her weapon ready to face this opponent alongside her.

Tahki doesn’t take her eyes off of Alistair. “You were given an order Eleven, take Iuana and Achak to safety! Leave him to me.”

Alistair smiles when he sees Eleven, even though the masks and clothing that hid their figures he could now clearly recognizing her as the second soldier, especially after hearing her name. “Now this is interesting. From the little I can make our I have to say that you’re from the same batch as Twenty Six, I’ve never heard of two from the same batch surviving before, though I guess it wouldn’t be impossible.”

Eleven frowns as she keeps her eyes on him, Tahki again trying to get her to leave as she motions toward her frightened husband. “Eleven! Get Iuana and Achak out of here now!”

Alistair grins at the command. “Don’t leave Eleven, you’ll take away half the fun.” He takes a gun from his side pointing it at Achak, knowing that if the two individuals that Eleven was supposed to leave with weren’t there to take care of that she would have no reason to go away.

Achak lets out a frightened gasp when he sees the weapon being pointed at him, he tightly closing his eyes as the trigger is pulled and the loud sound of a gunshot fills the air. Tahki’s scream ringing through his ears as she reacts to this grabbing onto Achak and shielding him having herself get hit with the bullet instead of him.

Eleven quickly rushes forward attacking Alistair before he had the chance to pull the trigger again, Alistair moving to stop her attack, a rather perplexed looked on his face, he not sure why number Forty Nine had acted in the way that she had. Super soldiers never trained to act in such a way, this certainly ruining his fun. “What the heck was that about?”

*******

Dolly is running through the wilds that surrounded her as fast as she could, she forcefully diving forward and hitting the ground to avoid being hit with an attack when one of the warriors that had been sent after her swings their blade at her.

Maigan frowns not happy that he had missed, he readying himself to attack her a second him.

Dolly gets back to her feet turning to face them, no longer running as she didn’t want to turn her back to these two.

Kitchi moves forward to attack, his advance stopping when a figure lands in front of him, startling him and causing him to jump back, Zack looking back to him and taking a gun from his side pointing it toward the two of them. “Attacking this defenceless young lady hardly seems like something boys like you should be doing.”

All the other wilds that Dolly had been running through quickly begin to disperse, getting as far away as they could, none of them naive to the weapon that Zack right now held.

Zack grabs onto a second gun at his side with his free hand, he throwing it back to Dolly for her to arm herself with, she catching it as well as a knife that he threw to her to use soon after the gun.

Kitchi stares at Zack he recognizing him as one of the two soldiers that had been pursuing Shiya and Iuana when then had been trying to return to the village. “You’re that soldier from before...”

Zack smiles at him. “Nice to see that you remember me.” He begins speaking with them. “Now since I’m such a nice guy I’m going to give boys a choice to choose from, back down and let us leave and I’ll let you live, try to stop us though and I’m afraid that I’m going to have to kill you. What do you two want to do?”

Maigan bares his teeth at the options, he glancing over at his brother able to tell by the way that his battle stance had not wavered that Kitchi thinking the same as him. These soldiers were attacking them and their people, they could not just back down.

Maigan and Kitchi both rush forward to attack, Zack firing his gun and hitting Maigan in the leg, causing him to stumble to the ground, Zack now aiming the gun at his head to fire a second time, his attack stopped when Kitchi’s runs up next to him, taking a blade from his side and swinging the weapon at him, slicing through Zack’s gun and destroying it.

Kitchi about to swing his blade at him once more but is forced back when he is shot in the shoulder by the weapon that Dolly right now held, Dolly not getting the chance to fire it a second time when Maigan throws a spear that he had been carrying upon his back at her, hitting the gun and knocking it from her hands.

Kitchi and Maigan are about to rush forward to attack but are stopped when another shot is fired at the ground in front of them, warning them not to go any further.

Kitchi looks around him not understanding. “We disarmed them! How are they still able to fire at us!”

Maigan frowns, unlike Kitchi he was more experienced when it came to fighting the domestics and knew what this situation meant. Maigan grabbing onto Kitchi and forcing him to run back with him as he quickly dives behind cover “They have a sniper with them.”

*******

Chase frowns as he looks through the scope of his sniper rifle, the two wilds he had been targeting having ducked down behind cover while he was loading his firearm with another bullet. He moves his line of sight away from them and back to Dolly and Zack, keeping an eye on them should they need more help from him.

Vaan looks over to Chase as he watches the situation on his computer. “Everything seems to be going fine so far, Magellan has Conner and is well on his way to getting her out of there while Quincy is occupying the warriors from reaching Raven Wolf’s leader as Kane deals with him.”

He smiles, though the mission had not yet finished it was clear that it would soon come to an end with them as the victors, the constant training they had been through in anticipation for this day making it so that it was practically impossible for them to lose.

Chase frowns as he takes his eyes from the scope of the rifle, he staring off away from the battle grounds, Vaan quickly snapping at him when he notices this. “What are you doing!? Keep to the mission or you’re going to end up messing it up for us!”

Chase quickly returns to what he had been doing. “Sorry... I just thought... that I saw something...”

*******

A wall of ice rises between Shiya and Kane, the bullets that bad been fired by Kane being stopped by it.

Teddy runs up next to Shiya looking him over to make sure that he is alright, both he and Shiya taking several surprised steps back Kane uses his brute strength to smash through the ice wall that had risen, running toward them and swinging a combat knife at the both of them.

Teddy positions himself next to Shiya as he readies himself to attack and protect him from harm, Shiya was after all now his chieftain, so keeping him safe was his duty as a warrior of Raven Wolf.

Kane raises his gun pointing it at Teddy. “You must be the other Conner I’ve heard so much about.”

Teddy doesn’t respond he simply ready himself to attack as soon as an opening presented itself while still being cautious of the gun.

Kane begins to speak to Teddy, their fighting very possible to avoid in concerns to the current mission objective. “You know you could save yourself a lot of trouble, and possibly save a lot of lives. We haven’t come with the intent of hurting you or the rest of your tribe.” He looks past Teddy toward Shiya. “The only thing I need is him.”

Shiya frowns as he takes a spear from his back readying himself for battle, as much as he wanted to protect his people from harm he could not let that happen.

*******

Eleven and Alistair continue to fight one another, their attacks meeting one another in almost perfect unison, their skills matched equally with no sign that one might be able to overpower the other, the look on Alistair’s face becoming more delighted as they continue. “Fighting other super soldiers is always so much fun, but to fight another one that made it to the top six like me! No words could possible describe how entertaining this is!”

Eleven doesn’t say a word back as she focuses on attacking her opponent, she unable to complete her orders to protect and bring Achak and Iuana to safety as long as he was attacking him.

“Achak...”

Achak slowly opens his eyes as he looks to the figure that was clutching him protectively in her arms, blood running down her arm from the wound she had received from being hit in the shoulder when trying to keep Achak from being shot.

Achak gasps as his mind comes back to reality and he realizes the situation that both he and his beloved were right now in. “Tahki!” He places his hand on her shoulder, the blood from the wound quickly dying his fur the same dark red that it dyed hers. “I’m sorry... this is my fault.”

Tahki begins to push herself back to her feet, pulling Achak to his feet as well. “Don’t worry about it, it’s nothing that will kill me.”

She looks back to Eleven who is right now fighting Alistair, there no way the he would allow her to break away from their battle to pursue her orders, Tahki going to have to appoint someone else to protect Achak, Tahki looking from her and over to Iuana, who right now stood in wait for Eleven and Achak.

Tahki grabs the spear from her back. “Iuana!” Iuana looks over to Tahki, the mouse throwing the spear over for the white wolf to catch, Iuana catching it in her hands and staring back at her confused, Tahki now starting to give her orders. “I need you to take over Eleven’s task for her, take Achak with you and keep the two of you safe.”

Iuana’s grip on the weapon tightens, she not sure if she could. “But-”

Tahki yells back at her refusing to take no as an answer. “You have the skills needed, and though your lineage will not permit you to be so I know that you have the heart of a warrior! There’s no doubt in my mind that you can do this!”

Iuana stares back at her having never thought to hear Tahki say such things. “I...” She nods her head in understanding, a determined look now on her face. “Of course.”

Tahki looks from Iuana as she places her hands on both of Achak’s shoulders and now speaks to him. “You have to get out of here before you get hurt! I will not lose you to the enemy.”

Achak slowly nods his head as he begins backing away from her, he turning around and running on all fours back to Iuana, Iuana doing her best to move him along as she begins to run as fast as she could toward refuge from the fighting.

Tahki looks from them and back to the soldier that Eleven right now fought, from her expereance with Alistair back at the True Blood labs she knew Two to be a very dangerous opponent that one could never take lightly, Eleven not going to be able to beat him on her own.

She grabs hold of a blade in each hand preparing to join her comrade this battle, Tahki letting out a cry as she rushes forward to attack, the fight between Alistair and Eleven breaking apart for a moment as Alistair moves out of the way to avoid being hit by her blades.

Alistair lets out a wide grin when he sees that Tahki has come to join in the attack, fighting two super soldiers always more fun than fighting one. “So you’re good to join in then? I was worried that I might have killed you when you so stupidly got in the way of that bullet.”

Tahki responds bitterly to that comment. “You should know better than to assume a super soldier to be that weak!”

*******

Dolly looks back to Zack, the two of them running into very little problems so far, Dolly bringing her running to a stop when she spots Teddy right now fighting Kane. “Teddy...” She seems conflicted on what to do, though she knew that Teddy ending up at that location was a possibility and had even prepared for it she still didn’t want to see him get hurt, she knowing that’s what the end result would be if he continued fighting against Kane like that.

Zack comes to a stop when he notices that Dolly is not keeping up with him, he looking back to her and calling out. “What are you doing!?” He looks off in the direction that Dolly is staring in quickly realizing the problem, he calling out to her now not the time for this. “Come on Conner we need to stick to the mission!”

Zack takes his eyes from Dolly for a moment when something in the distance catches his eye, he looking for and then find what it was he had seen, a horrified look filling his face as he begins to loudly yell in his radio. “Chase, change targets now! Concentrate on the western field!”

Dolly seems confused by the order that Zack had given, she even more confused by the panicked voice that Zack had used when giving the other super soldier the order. “Zack... what’s wrong...?”

*******

Van complains his he holds the ear piece of the radio away from his head, Zack’s yelling have been very loud through it. “It’s a radio Magellan!! You don’t have to yell!!”

Chase takes his eye from the scope of the sniper rifle, he taking a pair of binoculars that were by his side and using them to look in the direction that was concerning Zack to figure out what the heck could have possibly gotten him so panicked, a horrified look now filling his face as well, he dropping the binoculars and grabbing onto the sniper rifle, taking it from where he had so carefully set it up and readying it so that he would be able to attack the area that Zack had told him to.

Van begins yelling at Chase in annoyance, this action of his not part of the plan at all, he compromising everything they had so far been so carefully executing. “What are you doing!? You are going to jeopardize everything!”

Chase finishes setting up the rifle aiming and getting ready to fire, a loud ear piercing whistle suddenly filling the air and causing his actions to abruptly stop, Chase screaming as he covers his ears in an attempt to block out the sound.

Vaan too begins screaming as he covers his ears to try and block out the noise. “What is going on!?” He looks back at his monitor, the video feed from what Chase’s sniper was pointed at right now on the screen, a shocked look on his face when he sees what it was Chase had been franticly trying to shoot down, a feed displaying a strange looking man who’s skin was bare of fur dressed in a military uniform that carried the crest of a blue star, Vaan, Chase and Zack having all recognized this man when they had seen him. “General Zephyr-”

*******

Kane falls to the ground holding his hand over his ears, the sound from the high pitched whistle making his head feel like it was going to split in half. “Where is that sound coming from!?”

Teddy hits the ground, he too trying to stop the sound from entering his head, the pain it was causing too much to handle. “What’s happening!?”

Shiya is also laying on the ground with his hands over his ears as he tries to block out the noise, his body curled up and trembling from the pain it was causing him, he like the super soldiers, one of the few that knew where this sound was coming from. “What are they- when did they get here...?”

*******

Alistair lets out a scream that is a mixture of anger and pain, he as well as the warriors he had been fighting and all the wilds in sight were all being affected by this noise, no one able to move from the pain this sound was causing them. “Who’s doing this! As soon as I find out who’s responsible they’re dead!!”

Vaan’s voice can barley be heard over the radio as he tried to contact the other soldiers. “You have to get out of there now do you hear me! Zephyr is the one causing this.”

A genuinely terrified look fills Alistair’s face after hearing this, his voice shaking as he spoke. “Zephyr’s here...” He places more presser against his ears as if it would somehow block the sound out better, this scenario not one that they had prepared for or even would have considered. “What would Zephyr be doing here!?”

Tahki also recognizes the name that Alistair is talking about. “Zephyr...” Alistair looks over to Tahki, she having over heard Alistair’s end of the conversation and now beginning to speak with him. “If General Zephyr is here... then that means that the True Blood army is here with him.”

Alistair seems even more panicked by this realization.

*******

Zack forces his eyes open as he looks around him, a computer controlled camouflage that had been hiding an army of vehicles now starting to disappear, the strange particles having been taking the colour and image of the sky and environment around them, making the army the hid completely invisible to wilds they currently surrounded on all sides. “They’re everywhere! And they have us surrounded.”

“Get out of there!”

Zack tries to force himself back to his feet, just because this wasn’t in the simulation didn’t mean that they had to be defeated by it, he grabbing onto Dolly’s arm an pulling her to her feet with him, the pain form the sound crippling her like it was everyone else. “Try to get a hold of yourself Conner! We have to move!”

Dolly tries to stand up but is unable to do so, Zack speaking through the radio. “We’re not going to be able to get out of here fast enough like this! We need to do something about the sound.”

*******

Vaan struggles to type on his computer, his head throbbing in so much pain that it was almost impossible for him to do so, he enduring it and doing his best to work regardless of the noise and pain, knowing that if he couldn’t do this that his companions would not be able to escape. “I’m working on it as fast as I can.”

He finishes what he had been trying to do, a relieved look filling his face as the sound stops, his head no longer feeling like it was going to split into two.

Chase stops his screaming, the pain the sound having been causing him having stopped as well, he slowly taking his hands from his ears as he stares up at the sky above him. “What happened...? I haven’t gone def have I...?”

Vaan shakes his head no as he begins to explain. “I programmed a sound to play through our radio headsets that should counter and block out the frequency of the sound they’re playing to cripple everyone.”

*******

Alistair takes his hands from his ears the horrible sound indeed gone, he looking next to him to find that the wilds were still being affected by it, only their team who had the headsets to communicate to one another not bothered by it now.

“Now all of you get out of there while you still have the chance!”

Alistair bares his teeth as he gets to his feet, turning tail and running away despite how much he wanted to fight the two super soldiers, he not wanting to deal with the True Bloods at all. “What are they even doing here?!”

*******

Kane gets back to his feet, the sound having finally subsided from his head. He lets out a low growl of aggravation, though this was defiantly not something they ever expected to happen they still had a job they needed to do.

He walks past Teddy who is still laying crippled on the ground, approaching Shiya and coming to a stop in front of him as he reaches down toward him, Shiya realizing his advance and struggling to his feet, getting up and distancing himself from his enemy while still holding his hands over his ears to try and block out the sound.

Alistair frowns as he takes a firearm from his side, this one being different from the gun that he normally used, this one holding tranquilizers meant to subdue his opponent should he prove to cause any trouble. “It’s pretty impressive to see that you managed to move through that paralyzing sound.”

Shiya looks around him, everyone around him on the ground unable to move unless they were one of the members of the domestic military, there no way that he stood a chance with the way things stood unless something happened that would change the tides.

*******

Zack helps Dolly back her feet, Dolly timidly taking her hands from her ears, afraid that she might hear the sound again should she uncover them. She looking over to Zack and questioning him about this. “What’s going on? What are you guys talking about? What’s a True Blood and why are they doing this to us?”

Zack frowns as he looks from Dolly to the many vehicles that surrounded them as he starts trying to figure this out, though there were lots of soldiers starting to rush toward the wilds if you looked over the vehicle to foot soldier ratio you could clearly see that there were too many vehicles and too little soldiers. Also trucks that had come to not tanks or any other kind of weapon, just transportation vehicles with none of them carrying anything inside. “It looks like there here to capture and collect.”

Dolly seems confused. “Capture and collect? The wilds? Who would... and why would anyone do that?”

*******

A man with short blonde hair overlooks the scene as it plays out, the man known by the super soldiers by the title of General Zephyr.

The noise that was currently being made did not bothering him or any of the others that followed under him, they in fact not able to hear the crippling sound. He calls out to his men as they prepare to move forward, everyone that was with him looking just as he did, carrying no fur on their bodies and flat faces. “Alright men gather them all up, and do your best not to hurt them as we need them alive and preferably unharmed, if they put of a fight then stand your ground until you can get a sleeper to your location. If a sleeper cannot reach your location or if they still prove difficult that use force to subdue them, just try not to kill them.”

The groups of soldiers begin to move forward after their commands are given, they beginning to capture and forcefully take the wilds who were right now not capable of fighting back with them, taking them to the empty trucks that waited and starting to fit as many as they possibly could inside of them.

A soldier that is looking over the scene through binoculars looks back to Zephyr speaking up and getting his attention. “Sir, it looks like there are some domestics among the wilds, and they don’t seem to be effected by the sound we’re emitting.”

Zephyr takes the binoculars from him. “That’s impossible, both domestics and wilds should be effected by it.” He looks through the binoculars spotting the domestics in question, a confused look on his face when he finds that what he had just been told was indeed the truth. “They’re in uniform so they must be military members, they probably have a way of cancelling it out... but how could they have figured out the frequency to do that?” He pauses when he realizes something, he trying to get a closer look at the large tiger in the center a feeling of recognition filling him, he then moving his line of site to another of the domestic figures feeling the same recognition as well. “Wait... I think I know them.”

He looks back to the man near him, this indeed an interesting turn of events. “Tell the squad leaders to inform their men to be careful when approaching the military domestics. I can’t tell for sure right now but I believe that they are from an old project of ours.” He grins throwing in some incentive. “Tell them that there’ll be a generous bonus for the teams that managed to catch one alive.”

*******

Tahki opens her eyes as she looks around her, the True Blood’s having starting descending upon the wilds and gathering them up, the wilds helpless and unable to fight back in their current state. At the rate things were going the wilds would all be captured in only a matter of minutes.

Tahki struggles to get to her feet, everyone around her in danger she having to do something to keep their side from remaining this helpless. “Get up Eleven... we need to find the source of the sound and get rid of it.”

Eleven tries to get up, the sound causing her so much pain that it was impossible to move. “I can’t.”

Tahki yells down at her, they having to do something or else they would all be killed. “Now is not the time to show weakness.” She stumbles forward looking over the vehicles that had appeared and surrounded them, she trying to find the one that was making the head splitting noise. She finding and slowly stumbling toward it. “This way.”

Eleven manages to push herself to her feet, she following after Tahki while trying to question her. “The True Bloods... what are they doing here?”

Tahki holds her head hardly able to think with all this noise. “I can’t think right now! Ask me again when the noise is gone.”

*******

Kane is about to fire the small gun he held at Shiya when he is hit in the legs with the spear that Teddy held tightly in his hands, tripping the large tiger and causing him to go crashing to the ground.

Shiya takes this opportunity to turn and try and run away in hopes of not being caught, he unfortunately not able to get far nor do much when this noise was crippling him and his companions as it was.

Kane pushes himself back up as he looks over to Teddy baring his teeth, grabbing onto the spear and forcefully pulling it from his hands. “Best for you to stay out of this Conner.”

He walks past him beginning to pursue his target, Teddy struggling to get up and stop him but barely able to move from the noise that was right now being played in the air.

Teddy takes a moment to look around him, noticing for the first time the strange looking soldiers that were among them. “What... are those things...?”

A concerned look now fills his face when he realizes how close several of them are to him, he quickly becoming surrounded by them.

*******

Dolly and Zack quickly make their way through the wilds that were right now crippled on the ground from the sound the members of the Domestic Military could no longer hear, Dolly looking them over as they pass them. “Will you please tell me what’s going on?”

Zack continues to make Dolly move forward. “Don’t stop or slow down, we have to get out of here.”

“Why?”

Dolly looks up from Zack as she looks behind her, several of the strange looking soldiers having spotted them, picking up speed as they begin chasing after them. “Zack!”

Zack glances back spotting what Dolly was so concerned about. “Just great!” His grip on Dolly’s wrist tightens as he picks up speed while giving out commands through his headset. “Lockheart! I need some back up!”

*******

Chase sighs when he gets the order, he picking up the rifle and repositioning it so that he would be able to help Zack out. “This is a mess!”

Vaan looks up from his computer when he notices some movement near them, he quickly getting to his feet as he calls out to Chase getting his attention. “Lockheart!”

Chase looks away from the scope of his gun and back to Vaan, several of the True Blood soldiers that had appeared now where they were, their guns pointed toward them, one of them yelling out to them. “Don’t move!”

Chase frowns at the order unwilling to comply to it, he instead getting to his feet and quickly moving forward while grabbing a handgun on his side with his right hand while taking hold of his combat knife with his left.

Several of the soldiers fire at him, Chase’s body moving instinctively to avoid each of the bullets, surprised looks filling the soldiers face for only a moment before Chase attacks them, firing the gun he held and taking the first one out in one shot, the others reacting as they rush forward to attack him, Chase handling them one by one effortlessly, switching from the weapon in his right and left without even having to think about it, simply using each weapon as the situation called for it until his opponents were defeated.

Vaan stares up at Chase as he finishes off the last of his opponents, though he wasn’t about to announce it he had to admit that he was actually happy to have him as his partner for once.

Chase puts his weapons away when he finds that he is done using them for now, he looking back to Vaan while speaking on the radio. “My position has been compromised, me and Vaan are moving to a new location. I’m not going to be able to cover you guys until I can find another sniping point, will you be alright?”

Both Chase and Vaan begin to gather their supplies as quickly as they could as the voices of their teammates begin to play over the radio.

Alistair’s angry voice responds over the radio. “What!? You’re supposed to make sure we all get out of here! You can’t just disappear on us now!”

Zack’s voice argues with Alistair. “He can’t really watch our backs if he gets caught now can he?”

Kane speaks up, sure that they would be able to hold their own until Chase found a new vantage point to back them up from. “Go on, just be quick about out.”

“Of course.” Chase looks back to Vaan. “Come on we have to hurry.”

Dolly’s voice now sounds on the radio. “Be careful you two.”

Vaan seems a little caught off guard. “I- I mean I’m just-” He frowns to himself not sure why Dolly concern over his wellbeing should be effecting him right now. “Why are you worrying about us anyway!? You’re the one stick in the center of this mess!”

Chase grins as he responds to Dolly’s concern. “We’ll be fine, just take care of yourself until I’m able to watch your back again you hear?”

Chase looks back to Vaan, the two of them now packed up and ready to go. “Let’s hurry.”

Raven Wolf - 03 - The Warriors - Chapter 12
Raven Wolf - 03 - The Warriors - Chapter 14
Book 3 in the Raven Wolf series.

Due to human negligence the world as we know it has ended and been reborn. The animal spirits that guide man giving them the forms of animals so that they would be able to survive in this new wilderness. Though now carrying the form of beasts man has not forgotten the place they once had, as an existence greater then just what nature wanted of them, an existence above all.

Those that worked to gain their humanity are known as domestics, while those who wished to follow the rolls the spirits had given them were known as wilds. Both groups grew arrogant and hateful of one another, the wilds saw the domestics as selfish monsters, for they were returning to the ways that had once destroyed the world, while the domestics saw the wilds as primitive beings afraid of progress, they no better than wild animals.

The raven and the wolf spirits grew tired of the destruction and fighting, and sided with the wilds in their ideals, the domestics only capable of further destroying nature. In their anger they marked a tribe of wilds with a curse, they being removed from the sacred circle of life, unable to hunt or grow their own food, their souls never able to move on while their bodies are unable to return to the earth when they died. The curse upon them only broken once the domestics are gone once and for all. The cursed tribe now known to all by the name of the spirits whom cursed them. ‘Raven Wolf'
