So, I wanted to draw the little girl from the photo shoot in A Goofy Movie. She is, after all, a favorite of the babyfur community, thanks to her effervescent personality and a constantly visible diaper. I just wanted to take a different approach from what everyone else had done with her... and I wanted to spend some time practicing poses. This was the end result.
This is one of Powerline's dance moves, found in a Google image search. I thought it would be a fun challenge to try drawing her striking that pose, and while it certainly was challenging (Powerline is very lanky, and this kid is very not), I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by the results.
I never watched this film, aside from that one photo shoot scene. I wasn't a fan of Goof Troop, the series that inspired it, and the hip-hop superstar that served as the film's MacGuffin smacked of pandering to this Gen Xer. Having looked at some of the screenshots from the movie, I'm starting to wonder if I dismissed it too quickly. Maybe the critics who shrugged the artwork off as Saturday morning quality weren't impressed, but I rather like how lively and expressive these characters look. And maybe the coming of age theme that left me rolling my eyes in the 1990s (dads are like, so embarrassing, am I right?) would have more resonance now.
And yeah, there are the diapers too. It seems this girl (whatever her name is) isn't the only toddler in the film... unfortunately, the other one is, like, Rugrats ugly. Yikes.
(Character belongs to Disney, of course, despite her apparent lack of name.)
