There are so many artists in the furry community that I would love to meet in person. Problem is, I can lose my composure around people whom I see as, "rock stars."

I haven't actually done this to anyone in person... YET... But it's one of those nagging fears in the back of my mind. That I'm going to geek out and come off as just another rando obsessed fan rather than my usual, chill self.

I was kinda the same when I went to my first con here in Portland.
Met some artists that I knew their art from.
Having an anxiety disorder made it even worse at times. >_<

I've met so many of my favorite artist in person and that first interaction is always the weirdest for me. But after I get passed it I normally end up befriending them at some point and find out they're just as fucking weird as me.

I was nervous my first time too. I ended up asked what kind of reference they used in order to draw dog cocks.  And then giving out my friends name and referenced him as "an expert at dog cocks" and that they could ask him for advice.

So you summon your persona to beat the artist up?

As an artist, you have a unique connection with fellow artists that most fans don't have and would do bad things for, even if the artist's is on a higher level. Make the most of it!

Been there done that
and even I´m not an artist it even happened once that someone did come up realised who I amand then jumped up and down and spoke so fast it was really embrassing not to mention I was standing next to ebonyleopard discussing a commission

That was adorably cute Pickles. You should make a post with mentions of your favourite top-tier artists one day, so we can see who makes you Squee like that. :3

... Sooo, I HAD a fanboy at MFF a couple years back. A guy who REALLY liked the commissions I got. I wanted the floor to devour me because oh fucking GOD was that the single most mortifying experience of my life.

Dude, I know this feeling. I hit on one of my favorite artists when first meeting her only to find out she was in a lesbian relationship. It somehow worked out fine and we work together a lot now with me writing blurbs for her.

As usual, you capture the very essence of my worries in a most relatable and humorous manner. And this goes double for anyone who is famous beyond a select, niche group or community.

I can think of a few celebrities whom I have met at local conventions who probably believe me to be an escaped mental patient. x.x

Michael Rooker thought I was pretty cool, though. I think he wanted to keep my wife when we met him, and I would have been okay with that. :3

LOL this is kinda cute.  Admittedly, I feel very similar and is definitely a contributing reason to why I have yet to go to a con xD

Question is: why the bonner, you want to bone the artist or be bonned by the artist?

I honestly feel ya I almost pulled this on a few people I saw at a convention I went to a few years back. Or a couple years anyways I ended up being on the receiving end of this once and it truly is awkward but very relatable

Not gonna lie. I felt nervous meeting you the first time at that con. You may not be a paco panda, but I still look up to you in a way as a superior artist (i don't artist god worship tough. we all have our problems). I tend to make a fool of my self around people and my twitching problem was realy bad around that time. I swear the twitching is something that comes and goes. XD But you were a realy nice guy and great to hang out with. I still wanna pay you back for that soup tough. I'd like to hang out again sometime when we both arn't having a bad night

This is me as a damn whole, save for the boner part, I get paranoid when meeting artists cause I don't want to come off as some creepoid stalker...

Well... good if its only the artists... for me, my entire life, especially school life, was dirigated by the fear of coming out dumb in front of the whole class... which results in me having bad grades in every subject, that needed you to participate often in front of the whole class... and finally in me leaving school early just because of that.

Late to the party, but I received great training in not going fan boy working in a high-end hotel restaurant and a centrally located Seattle Starbucks back in the day. Once you've seen Anthony Kiedis and Jane Goodall hugging it out in the lobby and Dave Grohl was your only customer at 7 am, it just stops fazing you.

That said, if I ever met Rick Griffin or Tracey Butler, I might be in some danger of losing my chill.

Many people who have done this, meeting fans and autographs, for a while have gotten used to all types of people so don't worry about being too nervous. The good ones understand.

Funny stuff! From personal experience, you will be more nervous than you think and the blood will go anywhere but your dick... unless you’re drunk, then I seriously don’t recommend.
