Suffice to say, after the incident with the tentacles, the two were back to practicing again, though this time on their own on account of what had happened last time around. But, Ray decide to read some of the book himself and decide on the next summon to try rather than letting Toto choose it again. This being a prelude to their summoning of carbuncle.
Naturally, Ray is giving his son a piggyback ride as they talk and discuss the spell they'll try out before doing so, hoping to raise the young cubone's confidence in the process.
