Because, you shouldn't judge people based off things they have no control over.

People cannot change the happenstance of their birth, people cannot choose what their relatives/ancestors did.

People should be judged on THEIR OWN actions on THEIR OWN lives. Not the lives of those long dead.

Everyone deserves the right to be treated well and given opportunities, regardless of the happenstance of birth or whatever their ancestors did or didn't do.

Just be good to everyone.

What does "treated well" and "given opportunities" mean? If you're born in an area where there's very few jobs because it's poor and dangerous, is that supposed to be illegal? Should everyone just be given a job if they say they want it, according to this standard? Or should every area with x amount of people have x amount of jobs? It's so vague as to not mean anything.

Being "good to everyone" is not something I personally agree with either, but I have little to say in either direction, especially considering the vagueness of it.

I think the point Zelox is trying to make is that we should try to improve the lives of people who don't have those opportunities, but really the issue is more nuanced and the world is far more complex than how he's making out. Saying that someone deserves something doesn't really mean anything unless you can actually give it to them.

Being good to everyone is generally a good principle to start off with people you don't know, but then if they turn out to be awful people, it's a lot more difficult to say how nice you can or should be to them, and it's ambiguous what being "good to everyone" really means. Is putting a murderer in prison "good" for them? It depends on your perspective, and on the specific situation.

Not judging people based on their ancestors' actions is a good idea, but prejudice is a part of human nature that's impossible to get rid of. I think the best we can realistically hope for is that people will discard their prejudices regarding specific individuals once they get to know them, as well as trying to acknowledge our own prejudices so we can avoid applying them where it's not fair or appropriate to do so.

The not holding the son to the sins of his ancestors part I didn't take any issue with, so that's why I didn't mention it.

Treated well and given opportunities come from my egalitarian bent, that I believe everyone should have equality of opportunity.

Moving is a part of opportunities, if an area doesn't have opportunities, you have the freedom of movement to be able to leave that place.

Alright, just, as usual, it's such a vague way to say it that it masks what you really think and may give the wrong impression. That's why I stay away from saying I believe in any vague ideas of "egalitarianism", "tolerance", "liberty", "human rights" or "free speech".

I might agree on some ways that one can take such ideas, but they're so vague and non-descriptive so that they can be interpreted in so many different ways that run completely against my ideas, even putting them in jeopardy. This is why I ask most people to rise above such terms and actually make themselves clear.
