Is is possible he forgot to compensate for Ian not being with him and didn't
adjust for the lack of weight? That would be my guess. In any case unless
something goes horribly bad *WHICH IT BETTER NOT!!* this is just a case
of first time jitters which I think Chucky can easily deal with. :)

Also HOLY CRAP I'M FIRST POST!  O.O!

That's exactly what it is. He's never flown the airplane with it being this light, so he'll need to get used to how it performs and adjust his flying accordingly.

Perfectly imperfect. That's what makes it perfect.

What's worse than flying your first solo flight?
Flying  you first solo flight knowing EVERYONE is watching you.

Being an instructor sending someone on their first solo is almost as stressful as flying your first solo.

Heh I tried rebuilding it in a flight simulator a while back and I couldn't quite get it to not do backflips all the time xD
Chucky must be having a right ole bitch of a time getting it to behave.

I can't vouch for a perfect design. Part of the airplane's look is for a futuristic and foreign feel.

The Beechcraft Starship and Rutan Long-EZ have a similar design though the EZ is smaller and the Starship is larger

meow you can do it Chucky just remember that your aircraft is a lot lighter now that it only has your fluffy butt in it

A little late now, but that's why Sandbags belted into the passenger seat.  You've never flown it empty and unbalanced before, now is *not* the time to add new variables.

Corvair owners always have a few hundred pounds of toolbox, tire chains, trolley jack and just plain junk (big rocks...) in the trunk for that exact reason - Ballast. All the weight is in the back.  Same thing with a canard pusher plane.

i beg to differ on that, adjusting to changing conditions is the whole point of this test i suspect

Very much so. My instructor just turned me loose for my first solo in an airplane 200 pounds lighter with only half tanks of fuel. I'll be watching from the tower, don't fuck up."

When in Doubt don't push it, go around is always the best choice! =3
And I believe that Going around don't take any points from a Soloing Student, since Security is a higher value in aviation. ^^

Absolutely right! Chucky is being graded on making the correct choice.

At least he didn't bounce it on the runway.  Loving the whole story so far.

So if Chucky successfully solos, what new drama are you going to throw at him?
Chucky
6 years, 7 months ago
That solo is just a first gateway and a rite of passage. There will be plenty more college and social drama to come. Can't put a bunch of young furries together without shit happening.

And front canard wing means it really doesn't want to be on ground from all I've read

I've never flown one, but I'm sure they're quite slippery. In reality, they're quite advanced and would never be used as a trainer.

More than like as the more traditional tail in rear design is favored though with fuel concerns and the like who knows.
