I remember when I finally figured cross-winds out. It was oh so very empowering.

The first time I got my 152 down without a bounce in a crosswind I felt like crying. There's no sweeter music than the gentle rumble of those tires on tarmac when Mother Nature is trying to push you into the baggage claim.

I didn't really master crosswinds until I was working on my CFI. I went up with an instructor in 20 knot crosswinds and did like 9 laps in the pattern. Once I got it, I had it forever.

A rumble of tires on the tarmac or a screech of a barely done landing, either way when you get it you've got it and before then well it feels like a million miles away. Then when you get it, it's as easy as tying shoe laces. Either way, this page yeah it works and is so good for that moment.

Sometimes you just need the right teacher to show you what the others couldn't in a way that you can understand.

I have never flown... is it like an epiphany the first time?
Chucky

Yes, especially when you figure something out that has been giving you trouble for a long time.

It's amazing when you're learning something new for the first time and all of the confusion and frustration and I'm-not-smart-enough-to-get-this coalesces into BING! Comprehension, and you feel like a genius.

How much are you getting paid to mention BING in your comment? :D

It's a wonderful feeling and so empowering.

They say that the moment you realize you can do something you've been trying and failing for a long time is the greatest feeling there is! Better than sex, better than ANYthing! It's called Satori and it has many meanings but it's base is "Enlightenment, understanding", literally, like in the illustration, "The moment the lights come on!" :D

Bravo Chucky! Knew you could do it, just needed the right voice in your ear! :D

Also that spit cup!!! ;D *thumbs up!* ;D

Satori sounds like something tasty from an Indian restaurant. I'll have some with basmati rice!

The spit cup is part of Huff's wardrobe at this point in his life.

"I remember when I finally figured cross-winds out. It was oh so very empowering."  Did you have a trainer teach you by showing you the kind of confidence in you ability that Chucky's trainer is showing in him?  I also noticed that the trainer never lost his grip on his spit cup.  LOL.

It was 18 years ago, but I'm thinking my instructor did have me do something like this.

That spit cup ain't goin' anywhere!
