imagine you find a NIC or a modem that allows you to access the internet 15 years in the future if you set the clock of the said computer in september 2011.

guessing it looked like this through classic theme, start orb changer, icons changed, and fixating the taskbar to look and behave like a 95... and finding programs in the Windows file and placing shortcuts of it on desktop. can tell. the pidgin icon was meant for MSN and winamp was made for Win2000 and over

Winamp did exist in the W9x era too.  I remember listening to music on it in my Win98.

If I had this access in 1996, I'd probably have to brush up on things...

That would be awesome. And terrifying. I'm not sure if I'd want that. <<

Accessing all the animations and other goodies on today's net would require another 15 years with the PCs of that time.

Totally pointless...

The funny thing is, Windows 10 looks a lot more like this than its predecessors!
Flat window titlebars are in again after 20 years.

That and I'm still using Winamp. Admittedly, on a 2011 Thinkpad netbook.
It hides out, minimized in the sytem tray notification area.

indeed, visually minimal, but the RAM count says it's not that minimalist. gigabytes of processes and services not even Gates knows what it does.

there has to be more in design out there than bare, minimalistic shapes.
