Seriously, English language, people are supposed to be able to read what other people write. That’s the whole freaking point.

Well "the" was much more easier to learn gramatically than having to memorize a dozens of independend Articles^^

Still, loving all the Languages, gute Arbeit <3

Many languages borrow grammar and pronunciation from other languages.

English doesn't borrow anything.

English drags other languages into dark alleys, beats the crap out of them, and riffles through their pockets for loose grammar.

English - the back alley thug of language.

Huh... I always thought "fräulein" was "fraow-line". Also, "guerrilla" is "geh-rri-ja?" Next, you're going to tell me "Javi" isn't pronounced "ja-vee." ;)

Have-Year? Like the alternate spelling Xavier?

DrJavi

Hah-bee-err, but with a strong R at the end. Most English speakers just can't do that R.

It's hard to spell a sound or intonation, unless you're a dictionary, but that's what I was going for..
Fortunately I have a Spanish background, with a minor in french, so I have no problem with the Rrrr!
That's why I found this little strip so cool, "I can say those!"

Side effect of so many people using a language is that they all put their own spin on it.

Even us native English speakers can have trouble with it, and living in the USA, with all the different dialects in different parts of the country things can get even more confusing. One fun example is water, where I grew up, we mostly pronounced it wooter. XD
FurryLinette
6 years, 10 months ago
Jajajaja, water = "wooter" or "worer", beetlejuice = "birelgius" mmm

there's a fake word that makes fun of english rules, the word is "ghoti"
it's pronounced "fish" (gh = /f/ as in enough. o = /i/ as in women. ti= /sh/ as in nation.)

Thank you for using the proper flag for English. <3

My favorite English letter combination is ough.  I believe it can be pronounced a minimum of 8, EIGHT, different ways.  Plus, how about pronunciations.  For example, read can rhyme with reed and red AND rhyming with reed it's the present tense and rhyming with red it's the past tense.  Go figure.

"The" is the problem word, novel.

Even better is that there are two correct ways to pronounce it and several others people generally just accept as "close enough".

I don't think "Ä" sounds like "E" (this would sound like "I" in German). It's more like doing something like... When you think and make that "Well, errrrrr...." (without the R's, if you know what I mean).

Of course you are right if you read it in most of the words though. Like "Bäcker", "Männer", etc.

Main thing is: Nice work! :D
