In DevArt, Eggplantman had done a strip named Zodiac. The 12 superheroes, all named after constellations in the Zodiac, and all anthros, face supervillains in a restuarant and, thanks to the foolishness of one of the supers, engage them in an all-out war. Some customers were killed even. The strip suddenly stopped at a cliffhanger, and for about 2 years now, no new pages were added. My patience finally gave out. I just walked away from the comic.

I recently rechecked -still NO new pages added. It's clear the Zodiac story had been abandoned.

I remember that one, although I stopped when they were busting (robot) furniture.  The pace was rather slow especially considering my dial-up then.  Juggling twelve characters plus supporting cast is rather ambitious.  The artist probably ended up burning out much like you did with your stories.

A dial-up ? When I first got my 'net installed, I tried installing dial-up but I kept getting crap error messages, and finally had to go another route - wireless or cable ...

Yes, the robot furniture which made the joe who originally programmed them embarassed - they were reprogrammed by their bosses as a test to see how the new team did in an unexpected emergency. Their bosses ,by the way, were actually gods ! They had been on earth for millenia, posing as mortals, and now were planning to move on. One villain, Ghoul, was once one of them.

It was a very promising story, well-drawn, but ... We never got an apology from the writer/artist.

You're better off with wireless or cable.  They're many times faster than dial-up.

That's one reason why I prefer my own stories in a more episodic and self-contained manner.  That way, I can wander off for whatever reason, and no one's frustrated by a cliffhanger.that's never resolved.

Plant monsters figure in Chptr 10 of the 7th Oz book (Baum resumed writing Oz stories after a hiatus where he intended to have wrapped up Oz forever, and gone on to other fantasies. ).

As I recall, Baum tried to move on several times, but nope, Oz was where the money was, so he had to keep coming back to it.  A guy's got to eat, after all.
