One of my favorite NES games. Also one of the hardest. Of course, we're talking Sunsoft, so you know it's gonna be hard in addition to having awesome music. =3
Perhaps what made the game so freaking hard was the fact that you only had TWO HIT POINTS! It was so easy to get hit because Fester didn't move very fast. And you might as well forget trying to continue if you had a headache and no vice grips to cure it.
Well, you could find two extra hit points, but they where so well hidden and still didn't make the game very much easier. =/
It wasn't until years later that I'd finally beat the game. And after all that hard work what do you get? ...A short cut scene of the aliens leaving town, then a lousy screen of the town's people celebrating Fester's victory... that's it... no credits, no special message, no nothing.
Not to mention the Continue feature was a total lie as James alluded to. (Instead of being sent to where you fought the last boss, you where sent CLEAR TO THE BEGINNING with all the harder enemies replacing the ones you originally fought! The only difference is that you DO keep the items you earned at that point as well as have them refilled, plus the you don't have to fight the bosses you've fought again, but it still a poor excuse of a continue since you could just as easily die before you've worked back to where you where!)
Still, we are talking a Sunsoft game, and even if the game was unfair, you just wanted to hear that kick-ass music!
