If you had the Game Gear version of this game, you likely played one of the hardest games in the Sonic series. I should know because I still can't get past the boss act without cheating. >.< The SMS version is a different story.
That said, the 8-Bit version of Sonic 2 was still a great game. The only thing that could've made it better would've been to have Tails actually be playable! <3
I think it was hard in both versions, but next to impossible in the Game Gear version. :P
