- Monty saved one starfish! (Now that I understand the meaning, the impact is so much more powerful... well done R!) - Habi is so sweet :-) - First panel of Puck on P4 is very nice, captures a snapshot of motion very nicely! - Gotta keep toasters away from water! :-) - Hope Monty's eye heals...

easy answer : it (page 1) is a visual reference to another work yes.. the essay/ story " the star thrower" by Loren Eiseley.. you can stop reading at this point.. that and I find it funny that nothing is signed or spoken by any one but Monty...on the whole page.. yet he says she is fussing at him.. long answer.. it was required reading once a million years ago.. the page has layers of meaning to me, 1) the part most people get out of that story was the seemingly pointless task as there are to many starfish to save was important to that one star fish.. it didn't die.. the star thrower could save some if not all.. I also like that the thrower collects the living.. which is what monty is doing helping those he can..he could not help other kits who died but he can help hawk.. at one point in that essay the narrator says Death is the only successful collector." the other side of montigo's family are death gods/and reapers who are collect souls.( its why hawk said your dad is a god to boo). so page one plays out as a book end to the death of the child in my other work a " little more humiliation." both sides do what they can its why they are there, http://www.theduckwebcomics.com/A_little_more_humiliat... and if your still reading this I'm surprised its a lot of words.. to answer a question..

:in a little more humiliation : we meet the child's ghost hiding under the bed... as a not so grim furry reaper shows up to take her to see her grandma.. when she says she is afraid he tells her that's why his is there to help.. so not that sad..

it makes it a bit of a challenge to think out how to draw the sign, sometimes the shape of pooka hands makes drawing a sign hard. but it challenges me to get better at drawing movements and hands.. and I like how it works into there relationship. I'm glad that you enjoy seeing it. . thank you :)
