Although the war never came to an official end, it's participants largely ran out of resources, morale, and people willing to fight.
The people of civilizations caught in this turmoil can -for the most part- enjoy years of peace, even though across the galaxy, wrecks and ruins are scattered everywhere as a reminder of times which were much more...metal.
