This was seen from a satellite 130 miles up in orbit as it passed over the part of Angola where the village is.
In two of the pics, Sy and Zella Ardwolf can be seen standing near their flatbed truck. They are giving instructions to their son, Hiraldo, for delivery of some tractor parts to the cotton farm / fabric mill further to the north. The family who owns the cotton farm had Sy order the tractor parts for them from a place in Pocolo.

Funny - I have GoogleImages and it shows EVERY house in the world. BUT people never seem to show up in the satellite pictures.

That does seem to be the norm. People may not be big enough for most satellites to see.
Then I've heard there are military satellites that can read the starting instruction plaque on a piece of equipment.

As I was writing my meerkat story a few years ago, I had a vague mental picture of what I thought the layout of the area where they live would be like. And over the time that I added more parts into the story, the locations as and where I picture everything would always come to mind.
So when I did the map, I drew it all out like how I've always imagined the setting for my characters.
